dessert and music
Chapter 2 Blueberry Tart
Hilda cut a pistachio-almond sponge cake into a circle and divided it into two layers, taking one of the layers and setting it aside. She made vanilla mousse into a semicircle and put it on top of a thin sponge cake, with some raspberry jam hidden in the mousse.
Fresh peaches were boiled into syrup by Hilda. She coated the mousse with a layer of peach syrup and garnished a candied cherry on top.
After she finished all this, she went upstairs to Mrs. Irene's office to make an announcement, and walked to the Paris Opera House with the crisp sound of the bell.
What a fine day it is, Hilda thought. The sun shone on her long brown hair, as if adding a layer of golden light to her.Bathed in the bright sunlight, her fair skin looked even fairer, and her blue eyes were full of smiles.
When people in the nearby shops saw Hilda, they greeted her with a smile. The children would also surround Hilda to say hello, and they knew that the big sister would always bring them something sweet to eat.Hilda, as usual, took some sweets out of her pocket, chocolates for the children.
Mrs. Irene's bakery is not too far from the theater, but it is still a little distance. She bounced and hummed and came to the iron fence that the guest had mentioned.
"Is anyone there?" Hilda asked softly, "I'm from the bakery, sir, I've brought your dessert." As soon as she finished speaking, a voice came from inside, "Thank you, I miss Paris A ticket to the opera is enough for your reward." It was the gentleman's voice, and Hilda breathed a sigh of relief, and frowned again when she heard "ticket" again.
The gentleman seemed to read her look, and said: "Tickets for Faust, miss," he added.
Hilda was surprised immediately, "Faust"!She heard right, the tickets for the opera were sold out months ago.The leading role in this performance is Carlota, the principal soprano of the Paris Opera House, from Spain.Hilda had already heard that she sang perfectly, and her high notes were amazing.
I just made a dessert for this gentleman and several months of bread to get such a reward.
Hilda was originally going to see "The Dumb Servant" a month later. Although the remaining tickets are not very good, she can still go to the opera house to watch.
"For me, sir?" Hilda couldn't believe it. She exclaimed, "I don't deserve it." "Of course you do, child," he said softly.Hilda seemed to want to say something more, but a letter floated gently in front of her.
Only then did Hilda realize that the dessert she had put on the ground was missing. It must have been taken away by that kind gentleman, she thought so.
When her eyes cast on the envelope, she didn't even know how hot her eyes were. She had longed to step into the temple of music for so long, and she would not hesitate any longer.
Hilda quickly picked up the envelope on the ground, ignored the dust on the envelope, lowered her head and kissed the envelope and said, "Thank you! Thank you!" She got up excitedly, clutching the envelope tightly in her hand, and ran back to the bread house.
"Hilda?" Mrs. Irene heard the movement and hurried downstairs to see the excited girl, "Why..." "Madam, thank you!" Hilda knew that if Mrs. Irene had not let her stay here She would not have stayed in Paris without working in a bakery, and would not have met that kind gentleman, let alone the opera of her dreams.
Hilda knew that she was acting disrespectfully, but this was her own dream—a dream since she was a child.
She ran up the stairs and ran to her room. She was in a happy mood and didn't want to waste every minute and every second now.
"Mom! I finally—" She grabbed the framed photo on the table, which contained a photo of a very happy smiling woman, holding a little girl in her arms, and the squinting little girl was holding a blueberry tart in her hand.
This is Hilda and her mother.
Hilda's mother is a gentle woman and a loving wife. Her mother loves music and loves to sing ditties to young Hilda since she was a child, and Hilda also likes her mother to sing for her.Her father is a branch of the Paris nobility, although he can't say that he is rich, but he is very kind to Hilda and her daughter - only materially.Because the man who "loves his wife and daughter" didn't know when he liked a little singer again.
So the father eloped with the little singer, leaving only a bag of money to Hilda and her daughter.
They rented a small house, and the mother began to leave early and return late. She stopped humming ditties for her daughter, and even began to dislike music. And Hilda knew about her mother's change. At the beginning, she would ask her mother to sing, but after her mother rejected her several times, Hilda never mentioned music again.
This kind of life persisted for ten years. The mother's body that Hilda watched gradually weakened. She cried and went to various hospitals in Paris to seek help, but in the end she found nothing.
Finally, a year ago, my mother passed away.Hilda spent all her savings and erected a gravestone for her mother in the nearby Perrault Town Cemetery. She was driven away by the landlord, homeless, she was found by Mrs. Irene who suddenly appeared in front of her, and let her stay in the bakery.
Once recalling her mother, Hilda's mind is full of her mother's thin figure, but the clearest thing is always her mother's gentle singing.
"If possible, how I want to go to the opera house again!" Before dying, the mother took Hilda's hand and said softly.
Finally on this day, she grabbed the photo frame excitedly and murmured: "Yes, mother, yes."
