Chapter 55 She and the captain;

Steve walks over.Holly woke up.

"Baby." Steve whispered softly, standing on the edge of the rocking chair, leaning over, stroking Holly's hair, "Don't sleep here. It will cause poor circulation."

Holly frowned slightly, raised her hand, trying to rub her eyes.

Steve quickly grabbed Holly's hand so she wouldn't rub her eyelashes into her eyes again. He looked at his pregnant wife and kissed her forehead.

"How was work today?" Holly asked.

"It's not bad. Everyone is good, world peace." Steve joked.

Holly smiled, stood up, put her arms around Steve, and kissed him on the cheek.

"I've got you guys supper, stew and soup, it should be almost ready. When will the others be back?"

Steve glanced at Holly's bamboo basket next to the rocking chair, which contained a little fur hat and socks that she was about to knit.

"In half an hour to an hour," he said, suddenly wanting to ask, "When our baby is born, will you knit her socks and hats like this?"

"Her?" Holly raised her eyebrows slightly, looking at Steve amusedly.Even doctors can't tell the gender of the baby, and here's a father who can't wait to have a daughter.

"I want a daughter." Steve bowed his head and answered honestly.

"I think this question should be decided by the child." Holly smiled and shook her head, paused for two seconds, and asked seemingly unintentionally, "What name are you going to name her?"

Steve frowned and smiled bitterly. "This stumps me. I've never named a baby."

While chatting, they walked back to the kitchen to do the final steps of cooking and the aftermath.

"Tell you, sweetheart, the baby's name won't be the hardest part. Have you thought about who's going to be godfather?"

"...I hope Tony and Bucky don't fight over this. Wesley and Wade are already the children's uncles, so they don't need to be godfathers anymore, right?"

"Oh, you underestimate the fighting power of my brothers. Maybe you can let them fight each other first, and then the winner will be decided by guessing fists. If Tony and James fight, it will be a heroic civil war."

"Haha, that's not funny."

Holly laughed, even though Steve frowned helplessly. She turned off the water, picked up a towel to wipe her hands, and turned her head to stare at Steve.

"Seriously, Steve. Did you ever think that this would change your life?"

Steve froze. He was trying out the soup, and Holly's rare opening remarks, slightly disturbed, made him realize how important this question was to Holly.

He put down his ladle and turned to look at Holly gravely and bewilderedly.

"Yes, I see, I've thought about it. Is there something I'm not doing well enough, Holly?"

Holly turned her head to look at the soap by the sink. "No... I'm not asking you to do more. That's not what I mean. I'm just, uh... we haven't talked about when we should have kids, and then, you've been giving me the feeling that you don't want it too soon have kids."

Steve was dumbfounded.

He couldn't deny it; indeed, a few months ago, he'd thought they shouldn't have a baby now.Maybe there should be no children for two years, three years, or four years.

Holly glanced at Steve quickly, pursed her lips, and smiled. "Look."

Steve scowled, trying to find something useful to say.But he can't.

Holly looked down at the sink, and after a moment, looked up at Steve, parting her smile.

"It's okay, me too," she said, as if trying to make Steve feel better. "We all have a lot of things we want to do, like protecting the planet, like making more books. It's okay..."

Steve's face darkened following Holly's words. He knew what Holly was going to say next.

"No." He interrupted Holly forcefully, "We want this baby."

Holly stopped, tilted her head, stood by the sink, and looked at Steve with an aggrieved and stubborn expression.

"We want this baby. Did you hear that? We absolutely want this baby." Steve repeated, emphatically, walking over to Holly and hugging Holly.

Holly hugged Steve to her chest and let Steve kiss her hair, her cheek. She is always staring at the tiles, the dining table, and all the still lifes that allow her to relax.

"Honey, Holly," Steve whispered, taking Holly's hand and kissing her palm. "Why do you think that? You're worried that I'm spending too much time on the Avengers and not being able to take care of my family?"

Holly leaned against Steve's chest, shaking her head.

"What's that? You have to tell me."

Holly looked up and put her hand next to Steve's cheek, hesitating, unable to speak.

She is afraid.

Every time Steve went out on a mission, she would worry; she didn't want Steve to give up his ideal of the world, she wanted to support Steve to do the right thing, so, for the sake of the family economy, besides painting, she took on a teaching job.

She spends all her time at work and isn't even sure she has enough energy to sustain her relationship with Steve. She also wants to be with her children, starting from an early age.Her parents used to take her with her, and she wanted her and Steve to do the same, so she used the Bleeding Effect as a training opportunity, because she wanted to go anywhere with Steve.

She is afraid that their relationship will change, that they will not be able to give the child a complete family, and childhood; that she will not have enough ability to take care of the child, and that she will not be the perfect wife of Captain America.

As Natasha said; she has done too much, and now, there is a dilemma.

"I'm really not questioning you." At last, that was all Holly could say.

Steve stared at Holly seriously, unable to do anything about the truth that Holly didn't want to say.It was impossible for him to use the S.H.I.E.L.D. to extract a confession from his wife without guessing what Holly was thinking.Because Holly always does well in front of him, strong and great.

"Let me think about it." Steve hugged Holly, kissing her forehead and the tip of her nose. "Give me a moment, I can figure out what's wrong. Just wait for me, okay?"

"...Mmm." Holly nodded slightly.

Steve let go of Holly, sighing.

"Promise me, don't do anything scary," he said, and he felt he had to ask Holly to make these promises. "We want this baby, I want you alive, I want you by my side. We won't divorce , or separation, or whatever assumptions you've had, don't pretend you haven't thought about it."

"I really haven't thought about it." Holly frowned in defense.

Steve didn't quite believe it.He always felt that as long as he showed any attitude that he didn't want the child that much, Holly might take the baby and leave at any time.

They did not continue to discuss the matter.

In fact, Holly really didn't think about so many terrible futures. She believed that Steve would be responsible, in short, it was right for him to be responsible.Thinking about it carefully, all her thoughts now are also very contradictory.Probably because this matter is really too complicated. And pregnant women have legitimate reasons to be permanently in a bad mood.

That night, Steve shared the incident with other men in the Avengers who had a relationship.A group of them sat in the saloon chatting, no women.

"Little Pepper seems to have had similar emotions." Tony was the first to express his opinion, recalling with some disapproval, "For a while, well, there were several times for a while, Pepper often expressed dissatisfaction with me. The reason is full of dissatisfaction with me. Complaining, like I don't consult with her before I make decisions, I always leave things to her, and some... small problems. She always has a problem with my actions to save the planet."

"Those are quite normal." James complained calmly, "I admire Little Pepper's heart to endure you until now. She is the true love of eight lifetimes for you."

Tony scowled.James disagreed.

"Laura is also worried." Clint shrugged and expressed his opinion. "In the beginning, I didn't confess to you, let Fury fake information, protect my family, and use Natasha as a cover. Then At the time, even James didn't know."

It was James' turn to change his face. "How dare you say it. I almost thought Nata was going to break up with me."

"I'm sorry, brother. I just want to protect my family. Laura and the children can't be exposed. That's what I promised to do for them. Every time I go out on a mission, I have to go back alive, for them. "

Steve pondered what Clint had said.

"That's true." James agreed, "Now Natasha also asks me to go back alive, even though she knows better than me how dangerous our business is."

"Can you follow Clint's example?" Tony suggested, "I'm not going to cover up my marriage. But Pepper seems to like to keep a low profile."

"She likes to keep a low profile." Steve mused.

"And then promise her you're going to put family first," Clint reminded. "Holly knows you well, and she'll know how patriotic you are. So, you have to reassure her."

"Of course I remember I have a wife and kids." Steve frowned.

"Then you have to let her know." James rolled his eyes, "Let me remind you, brother, do you remember how you two got married out of nowhere?"

After all, the problem seems to have returned to the original point; because the order was wrong and the rhythm was too fast, it caused some sequelae. But Steve always felt that there might be more than that.

So Steve made a decision.

When they got back into the room, Holly was going to bed.She hasn't finished the drawing yet, and the textbooks are piled on the table waiting to be processed.

"You're back." Holly looked up from the table full of unfinished drafts, "I'll be ready soon."

"How can I help you?" Steve asked.

"Uh...wake me up? I have work to do...need to get up early."

Steve suddenly understood.

He walked over silently, pulled Holly up from the table, and led her to the bed.

Holly looked at Steve incredulously. "What are you doing?"

"It's going to be three chapters." Steve said, turning his head and raising an eyebrow at Holly, "A family should have some rules. Right?"
