Alice's Travels
Chapter 65
Snape's face flushed a little immediately, he squinted his eyes and stared at Alice coldly, and then strode away.
Alice slightly hooked the corner of her mouth, looked at the rippling water with calm eyes, and stood quietly by the black lake for a long time.
Bursts of heavy muffled sounds faintly resounded in the depths of the gloomy sky, as if shouting from distant time and space through layers of clouds.
The time has entered the cold winter, and the continuous rain is falling down.
Alice's mood seemed to be affected by the weather, and she couldn't sleep even more at night. She prefers to stay alone in a secret room underground in the middle of the night, a small bed and a small table are enough.
After the Potions class was over, Snape hugged the textbook and waited until the beautiful red-haired girl Lily Evans also packed her things, then they hurried out of the classroom together.Potter kept his eyes on Evans, saw her follow Snape all the way away, and immediately bit his pen angrily.
Black casually glanced at Potter's expression, and smiled, "What are you looking at, James, so focused—"
"Oh, Sirius, why do you think Evans is friends with someone like Slug?" Potter said sullenly.
"I think there's something good about Snape, James," said Lupine, smiling mildly. "You've got to see some good in him."
"No wonder!" Potter muttered, mouth curled.
"Why speak for that snot-nosed man, Remus," Black said with a disdainful expression, "he's not worth it."
Peter didn't have time to cooperate with their conversation, he immediately raised his heels after seeing Alice get up from the seat and leave.
"What is he doing—" Potter raised his eyebrows and looked at Peter's back in confusion, "Hey! Where is he going in such a hurry—"
"Whatever." Black said casually, "Anyway, Pettigrew won't go far."
As soon as Alice reached the corridor, she heard a series of footsteps behind her. She turned to look at Peter and said calmly, "What's the matter?"
"Oh, I, I just—" Peter's blushing face flushed, his watery eyes blinked and stammered, "I have something I want to give you—thank you for saving me that day , Alice..."
"Well," said Alice softly, lowering her eyes, "it's all right."
Peter reached out from the pocket of his robe and took out an exquisitely packaged gift box, handed it to Alice carefully and said, "Hey, I hope you will like it—"
"Okay," Alice took the gift box and said in a strange voice that didn't seem to come from her own throat, "I see."
Peter stared nervously and expectantly at the petite and pale black-haired girl in front of him. His black eyes were like a pool of deep clear springs covered by long eyelashes, and his light-colored lips were lightly pursed on his delicate face.
"You, are you not very happy recently—" Peter swallowed and said hesitantly, "I, I think—"
"I'm fine." Alice raised her eyes and paused. "Is there anything else?"
"No more." Peter shook his head suddenly and said in disappointment, the light in his eyes dimmed instantly, "Then, goodbye——Alice."
Alice nodded and watched Peter turn and walk back slowly.
She reached out and touched her neck unconsciously, it was empty and there was nothing there.
Big drops of rain fell from the sky outside, hitting the ground one by one, splashing fine sprays.
Alice looked up at the sky, pursed her lips, retracted her eyes, and raised her feet to walk deeper into the corridor.
Hogwarts was a little quiet at night.Alice was leaning against the edge of the corridor with her arms folded and listening to the sound of rain outside, when she suddenly heard a muffled sound from the classroom not far away.
She frowned, and noticed that Filch on the other end seemed to have noticed the movement here, and immediately rushed over in front of him.
A puff of smoke was coming out of the cauldron on the table in the classroom, and there was only one figure on the opposite side—Severus Snape standing in front of the cauldron with a dazed expression.
"Fade away," Alice said, waving her wand immediately. "Go, Filch is coming."
"I don't need your help at all," Snape said dryly, glancing at her. "You've ruined my work."
"It's a failed work—" Alice said quietly. "Are you trying to stay here and lose points for Slytherin?"
"Come with me, I know a place where you can brew potions safely," Alice said after a pause, "in exchange, you have to provide me with a potion I need."
"Okay," Snape said, looking at her darkly, "deal."
They quickly opened another door in the classroom and left before Filch arrived.Alice led Snape all the way to the underground secret room where she always stayed, then raised her wand and magically set the password to open the door.
"Peppa's tree house." Alice thought for a while and said.In an instant, a light emitted from the wand changed into letters and merged into the solid door wall.
"Peppa—who's that?" Snape said with his mouth curled as he looked around the room.
Alice paused for a moment, suddenly not knowing what to say.In her memory, Page is her favorite character, but Page—who is Page?
"If you don't want to say—" Snape said nonchalantly, putting the cauldron on the table.
"It's her." Alice interrupted, using her wand to draw out the appearance of Page in her impression crookedly with one stroke, and then carved the portrait on the wall behind the small bed with a wave of her hand.
"It's such a strange shape," Snape said in a mocking tone, looking at the painting on the wall, "It seems that you always have some strange ideas in your mind, don't you?"
"Nothing compares to you, Potions Master," Alice said with a smirk, "is it possible to take a minute to clean yourself up before you go to work - watch out for a bad image, Severus ?”
She then gave him a 'clean up' under Snape's exasperated gaze, and then motioned with her eyes to his neatened robes and clean hands, roving his hair and saying, " Maybe next time you can remember to wash your hair, huh?"
"You're so nosy, Alice—" said Snape angrily, "that's wonderful! Why didn't you make the potion too—"
"Oh, that's what you have to do later," Alice said calmly, "I want the invisibility potion, you have to give it to me as soon as possible."
"Then, leave me alone!" said Snape bluntly, "put away your eccentric problems!"
"It sounds like you really want to control you." Alice curled her lips at him and snorted, "Who cares, but the point is - you poisoned my eyes."
Snape gritted his teeth and glared at her, then suddenly returned to his usual expression with a sneer and said, "Then let me guess, what do you want the invisibility potion for? You want to sneak out and do some bad things, huh?"
"Obviously," said Alice, leaning against the wall with her arms folded, "it's none of your business."
Snape twitched his lips mockingly and let out a snort.
Within a few days, every corner of Page's tree house was occupied by Snape's shelves, filled with bottles and jars of stuffed animals and some potion materials.
"Clean it up." Alice waved her wand before Snape could do it. "It's a good habit to wash your hands before doing things, Severus."
"That's just your habit, Alice," Snape rolled up his sleeves and said, "As for the invisibility potion, I can give you tomorrow at the latest—"
"Very good. Then I won't bother you." Alice turned and left the room after she finished speaking.
Almost without hesitation, Alice immediately walked to the Astronomy Tower.
The cold wind outside the window sill blows in from time to time, sweeping away the warmth inside, leaving a bone-chilling coldness.
It's still raining. It seemed like someone was crying.
Is the sky crying?
Alice's figure stood alone in front of the window sill until night fell.
"Alice—"
Peter called to Alice as she passed the hall, and hurried over to hand him a pair of brand-new knitted gloves, blushing and stammering, "I think, think you might need them—"
"Thank you, but no—" Alice refused politely, "I'm not cold, and I don't need gloves."
"You've been looking a little pale," Peter said softly, lowering his eyes. "I think, I think it would be better if you kept warm?"
"Perhaps you're right, but sorry, I'm not used to wearing gloves," Alice said.
Peter's hand trembled slightly, but he still didn't take it back. The blush on his face quickly faded into an unnatural paleness, "If you don't like it—you can, you can leave it for now, but please accept it—maybe, maybe it will be useful one day..." Peter looked up at Alice and said sincerely.
Alice didn't look away this time, but looked into his eyes for a second and looked at his expression, as if after a long time, she finally nodded in a dead silence.
Peter seriously handed the glove to her hand, pursed his lips and exhaled lightly.
"That day—helping you was just a matter of effort, anyone would do the same." Alice took the gloves and looked outside the dark corridor, looking at the falling rain curtain and said, "You don't need to do this."
Peter's eyes were lowered, his lips were drawn down into a stubborn arc, and he didn't speak.
Alice glanced at him from the corner of her eye, turned and left without saying anything.
Light and shadow are intertwined, creating blurred halos one after another.Accompanied by the sound of pattering rain, the slender figure gradually disappeared at the end of the corridor.
Peter raised his eyes and stared intently and earnestly. The eyes with watery eyes were deep and quiet.
The next day Snape gave Alice the invisibility potion as expected.Alice shook the small bottle in her hand, raised her eyebrows and said, "I'm sure it's all right, Severus—you know, if something goes wrong, the trouble might be big..."
"You're really cautious, Alice—" Snape gathered his robes and folded his arms, curled his lips and said with a mocking expression, "I think you're only as courageous as a mouse, aren't you?" Right, huh?"
"Okay, it's all right from your tone," Alice said, putting away the potion, "then I'll—"
But her voice stopped suddenly.
Because not far from where Snape was standing, a tall and thin young boy came towards the corner of a staircase facing Alice with his back to the light.
His face was pale, and his platinum-blond hair seemed to shimmer.
Snape glanced back, looked back at Alice's unblinking eyes as if frozen, and slightly pursed the corners of his mouth.
However, not long after, a very beautiful and tall girl came over and took the blond boy's arm, and a reserved and satisfied smile appeared on the boy's face immediately. The two chatted and laughed intimately and strode away quickly past Snape and Alice.
Alice's eyes turned with the figures of the two, and the eyelashes fluttered and fell down suddenly, covering a shadow. Her lips were tightly pressed together, she felt her throat was tight, her mouth was bitter, and her heart was heavy.
Alice slightly hooked the corner of her mouth, looked at the rippling water with calm eyes, and stood quietly by the black lake for a long time.
