[The Chronicles of Narnia] Sin
Chapter 50
The bone-chilling sea water gradually becomes mild and cool.In the boundless darkness and silence, a faint light finally penetrated. The girl stepped on the water and floated up, and finally surfaced before the last trace of oxygen ran out.
The light golden warm sun shone on her cheeks, making it itchy for some reason.
Where am I?Panting for breath, she drifted in the direction of the ripples, while observing the vast ocean around her.
It's not winter here, it's not late spring or early autumn. It was not morning in the world of Narnia, but more like evening when the sun was setting in the west. She subconsciously touched her pocket—Edmund's golden chess piece was intact and had been tossed several times, but miraculously followed her through time and space.
Not far away, the familiar flag of the pirate ship rose from the horizon and slowly moved towards her direction.
Father? She couldn't believe that she would see him again one day.
"You look healthy, the explosion didn't hurt you?" The middle-aged man stepped forward to embrace the girl who had just been pulled up by the rope in disbelief.
It wasn't until Edith stood upright on the deck that she realized that she had become shorter.Although her father was as tall as he remembered, she had grown several inches in Narnia. But now it seems that I have returned to the height level when I first arrived in Archenland at the age of 13.
"What's wrong with you, Itdie?" The former General Grosse wrapped a towel around her dripping hair.
There were thousands of shocks in her heart, but finally she raised a simple smile: "It's nothing," she said, "I just went to finish an unfinished story."
Edith went on to pirate in the Gulf of Mexico for a year later. For some reason, she found that she no longer liked the days of drifting all day long.Every time she raised her sword, she couldn't stop thinking: Is there any story about this person?Does he really deserve to die?Is there any other way to realize the justice and freedom that I think?
Still later, she bid farewell to her parents and set foot on the North American continent.
"You are only 14 years old, which is not enough for people who are alone in the world." When we parted, my mother said to her worriedly.
Father was different, he just silently prepared a small bag for her.Edith had told him the miraculous and ups and downs of the story, telling him that there is no need to continue those regrets and guilt.
"Do you want to go to England to find your Pevensie?" Before getting off the boat, the man secretly asked behind his daughter.
Edith looked back and smiled: "He may not be there. And before that, I need to arm myself properly—without armor and shields, but with knowledge and civilization."
The author has something to say: Here is a timeline for everyone. Some readers may not have read the seven original works:
Edith's ancestors are essentially Telmarians, who entered the world of Narnia in 0460 of the Narnia Era and occupied Telmar. The real-world year to which 0460 corresponds is unknown.
Thousands of years have passed since the Telmarines multiplied to the generation of her father, General Grosse.Grosse was defeated in Narnia in 2303 and was sent back to Earth, but the exact time of his return to Earth is unknown. He and the four Pevensies walked through the same tree hole, but they did not necessarily lead to the same era; the setting of this article is that he came to the Gulf of Mexico in 1933.He settled down there, married a wife and had children, and Edith was born in 1934.
In the spring of 1947, the pirate ship where 13-year-old Edith was on exploded, and she was sent to Narnia 1003, where she lived with her adoptive parents in Archenland for two years. In the novel Chapter 3 Edith’s Memories, there is a mention of what happened in the East in 1947 in the real world, which actually alludes to the Chinese Liberation War (very weird foreshadowing, right)
In 1005 of the Narnia Era, Edith joined the Archenland Naval Reserve, Lucy's potion was lost, and Edmund and Edith met for the first time; then two years later, Edith entered the Archenland Navy And supported Narnia. After that is a series of stories in this article.
Referring to the setting of the Wardrobe timeline, like the four Pevensies, when Edith returned to the real world in December 1008 of the Narnia Era, it should still be the spring of 12 on Earth. After that, she planned to travel in North America and tried to go to England to study. In the autumn of 1947, when she was just 1949 years old, she met 16-year-old Edmund (although they were both in their twenties and thirties). The story of the encounter will be in the next episode, so stay tuned~
