Stupid Odin

#14 - Target Surter

Chapter 14: Target — Surtur

This battle was too tragic. From the valley came the continuous, earth-shattering 'war cries' of the female giants. Countless trees were crushed, the sounds of snapping echoing incessantly.

Paul felt a bit helpless. This was the reality of the Aesir at this stage.

Don't let the term 'Aesir' fool you; at this point, they should be read as divine barbarians.

However, in Paul's and Bestla's minds, the only right thing for their son to do was to have a grandson as soon as possible.

It wouldn't hurt to educate them a little in advance.

Finally, after a long while, Thjazi came out.

Looking at his two foolish and curious younger brothers, Thjazi continued to explain to his gossiping parents, speechless, "We'll see if they can get pregnant in a while. Anyway, as long as they inherit the blood of the Aesir and the giants, you won't have any objections, right?"

Paul nodded blankly, but Bestla protested, "Son, what if they can't get pregnant...?"

"Then I'll just have to court them a few more times," Thjazi said helplessly, making a concession.

He traversed this world, born as Paul's child, and had to inherit the karma of the Aesir. If he caused infighting within the Aesir, then this world would likely head towards destruction even faster.

As for fathering a divine child, Thjazi was very confident.

The other gods and giants didn't have his powerful perception and weren't aware that the essence of the world had already begun to change.

As Ymir, the anchor that locked the old world order, died, the world quietly expanded, which meant that the world could accommodate more gods.

First, Thjazi sensed something, then Odin, and then Vili.

One after another, they turned their heads, looking at Ymir's enormous and swelling strange corpse. This wasn't to say that Ymir's body was bloated from being soaked in the flood; it was something more fundamental, as if there was a magical pulse, expanding and contracting, like a gentle ripple, lightly lapping against the reefs, touching the hearts of the three Aesir.

"Brother, I feel that the world seems to be calling to me through Ymir's blood, hoping that I can do something with Ymir's corpse."

Vili nodded blankly, indicating that he had a similar feeling.

Thjazi slowly raised his head and looked at the cold night sky filled with snowflakes. "Indeed! The world yearns for change."

Having thoroughly read the epic poem "Edda," he naturally knew what the world wanted them to do. In the epic, the three brothers Odin responded to the desire of Ginnungagap, completely returning Ymir's body to its origin and using it to completely transform the entire world.

In this life, Thjazi stopped them.

"However, just Ymir alone isn't enough!"

"Not enough? But I heard the voice of the world..." Odin rarely argued.

"My foolish brother! Taking things one step at a time won't make you a good king. You need to elevate your perspective to a higher dimension."

"A higher... dimension?" Odin murmured.

Everyone's gaze followed Thjazi's raised finger, turning towards the distance.

On the ground, the flood had just receded, leaving potholes everywhere, and the cold wind was gradually freezing the stagnant water. And Thjazi was pointing towards the Ginnungagap.

That was the boundary of the world!

This empty black abyss allowed the elemental energies of the worlds of ice and fire to constantly collide within it.

The Ymir that Thjazi and the others had defeated was the master of the ice world. Even though they had never crossed this illusory abyss, which was over three thousand meters wide, they could still vaguely see a fire giant holding a sword on the other side of the abyss, stirring up a sea of fire with his fire sword from time to time, splashing it towards the ice world.

Looking at that huge and obscure fiery red figure, everyone understood.

Paul was both excited and shocked: "Thjazi, do you mean...?"

Thjazi's expression turned stern and resolute, and he said loudly, "Kill the fire giant ancestor Surtur too! Completely control all the elements of Ginnungagap, and then begin the reshaping of the world! Establish new laws, fill the world, and allow new elements and life to emerge in this vast space snatched from chaos!"

Sure enough, there was no limit to shock!

Paul's decision to go to war with the frost giant ancestor Ymir was a desperate move when the survival of the gods was at stake. His good son's approach was obviously more radical and his vision more ambitious.

If this had happened before killing Ymir, Paul would have opposed it no matter what.

Now he couldn't say it. Thjazi was already the great hero of the gods who killed Ymir and, moreover, was the God-King! He, as a father, had no reason to hold his child back from the grand goal Thjazi had set for the future of the Aesir.

Paul was even a little secretly glad that he had abdicated the throne of God-King to Thjazi in advance; otherwise, with his old-fashioned ideas, he would definitely hinder the development of the gods.

Paul said solemnly, "Give the order! Your Majesty the God-King! We will all obey your orders!"

Paul's statement was to tell Thjazi not to treat him as a father god, but to treat him as an ordinary Aesir warrior to give orders to.

Thjazi looked around, feeling the burning gazes.

In his heart, he secretly adjusted his goals.

If it were other subordinates, Thjazi might think they were a burden, but they were different. One was the former number one expert of the Aesir, and the others were frost giants who were loyal to the Aesir. They had a natural resistance to fire, and it was time for them to do their part!

On the other side, the fire giant ancestor Surtur had become even more manic and restless.

The world had obviously undergone some huge changes that he couldn't know.

The harsh ice storms that had stubbornly responded to him countless times had stopped, and even the ice had weakly turned into a flood, submerging the opposite ice world, and allowing countless tons of floodwater to pour into Ginnungagap.

Surtur's roar echoed over the abyss, but this time, neither the world nor that damned Ymir on the other side gave him a response.

Not only that, but he seemed to feel the world's rejection.

Ymir and he had once been the two dikes of the ice and fire worlds. They both drew strength from the world and blocked the birth of new laws.

Now, the world was faintly targeting him, and the pulse of fate was coming from the other side of Ginnungagap.
