Stupid Odin
#173 - Lady of the Lake
This was also Lancelot's misfortune!
The Celtic world is basically an isolated world, consisting of the Emerald Isle as its core and several large islands.
In the worldview of the Crusades, there is a version of Lancelot who ran off to France after seducing the queen.
In this life, the Celtic world is just a few big islands, with the rest being the sea and the 'end of the world'. Lancelot knew that he had violated his knightly oath and could not live on the island of Britain, so he could only flee to other islands.
In fact, Lancelot was acting rashly. If he had run to Queen Maeve's camp before she was dealt with, he might have been able to kick Guinevere aside with his looks and embrace the queen's thigh.
Unfortunately, this was an era of extremely inconvenient information communication. Lancelot was too hasty when he fled, and he didn't even know about the rebellion of the Fianna Knights. He only knew that they valued chivalry very much, and he would definitely be found and executed if he went there.
Now, that's great. He brought his lover headfirst into the Emerald Isle, and Odin happened to be an old schemer who took all the benefits and shirked all the blame.
Odin was in urgent need of manpower. He didn't mind sheltering Lancelot, but he didn't trust a rebellious knight who had betrayed his lord and was morally corrupt, unless the other party became completely one of his own.
Guinevere was stunned, watching the chaotic aura engulf her lover like a tide. She didn't even dare to scream, because she was afraid that she would be next.
Guinevere would rather die than become as ugly as the other chaotic giants in the hall!
Unfortunately, many things are beyond their control...
On the other side, the Kingdom of Camelot.
King Arthur was mobilizing troops to deal with Mordred's rebels.
If this were the story of *Le Morte d'Arthur*, as King Arthur's territory expanded, he even advanced into the European mainland and defeated the powerful Roman Emperor Lucius.
However, there was no France or Roman Empire in this Celtic world. King Arthur went to the east side of the British Isles to meet the Saxons. As a result, Lancelot and Mordred respectively stole his home, one stealing his wife and the other stealing his lair.
King Arthur married the beautiful Guinevere as his queen. But like his father Uther Pendragon, King Arthur also had illegitimate children. His lover was his half-sister Morgan le Fay. However, unlike his father Uther Pendragon, King Arthur did not intend to have an affair. Morgan used a kind of magic potion to make Arthur see her as Guinevere. When Arthur woke up, he felt guilty towards Guinevere.
Although Arthur only spent one night with Morgan, Morgan still got a child with Arthur's blood as she wished. Coincidentally, Guinevere happened to witness all of this, which led to her later affair with Lancelot.
The mother of this illegitimate child was Morgan. Arthur and this child were both uncle and nephew and father and son. This illegitimate child was Mordred, who later rebelled and led the kingdom to its final demise.
This is a complete mess.
In any case, incest, patricide, and the guardian knight cuckolding Arthur are much more exciting than the Aesir's Thanes and Odin's sibling rivalry.
The current King Arthur seems to be slightly better off than in *The History of the Kings of Britain* and *Le Morte d'Arthur*.
At least there is no Holy Grail in this world, nor did King Arthur send out a large number of knights to search for the Holy Grail, and most of these elite knights were in a state of no return.
Moreover, according to records, the famous Knight of the Round Table, Arthur's nephew Gawaine, had his two brothers, Gareth and Gaheris, accidentally killed by Lancelot when they tried to stop Lancelot from taking Guinevere away.
This further caused hatred and division among Arthur's knights.
In the end, according to the epic story, Arthur and Mordred fought to the death, and only one knight, Bedivere, remained by his side before his death.
In this life, an invisible hand stopped all of this.
When Lancelot took the queen away, a thick fog suddenly rose in the sky, so that Gareth and Gaheris could not find Lancelot.
Immediately afterwards, before Arthur mobilized a large army and prepared to negotiate with Mordred, an unusual phenomenon appeared over a seemingly ordinary lake.
A huge magical array of divine power suddenly appeared in the sky. The world barrier, representing the boundary between the order and chaos worlds, suddenly opened wide, as if welcoming the arrival of its new master in a humble posture.
A beam of golden light rippled through the clouds and descended from the sky, falling on the deep lake surface.
In the crystal palace at the bottom of the lake, the beautiful lake fairies were drawn by this inexplicable sense of grandeur.
They raised their heads, their vision transcending the lake water and projecting into the air.
The world seemed to be frozen in time.
The wind no longer blew, and every leaf reverently lowered its blade, as if waiting for the arrival of a supreme being.
There were no birds singing, nor insects chirping.
All things in the world consciously silenced themselves, obediently and quietly bowing to the will descending from the sky.
The beautiful Lady of the Lake widened her azure blue eyes, and within her pupils, a huge and majestic translucent phantom was imprinted on them.
At this moment, the Lady of the Lake felt that the [Lake Water] law she was familiar with was being rapidly rewritten, and all the water bodies were expressing their submission to this newly arrived being with fear.
Under the endorsement of the world's will, the other party took over all the laws about [Water] in an incomparably tyrannical manner.
Whether it was the rain clouds in the sky, the rivers and seas on the ground, or the small lake where she was.
The only consolation was that the other party was obviously not here to destroy her or these lake fairies.
Feeling the sacredness permeating the air, and realizing that this great being standing in the void was watching her with profound eyes, the Lady of the Lake no longer hesitated, floated to the surface of the water, and immediately bowed down.
"Little demon of the mountains and fields, paying respects to Your Majesty." She didn't know where the other party came from, but calling him [Your Majesty] would definitely be right.
[Are you the Lady of the Lake who bestowed Arthur with (the Sword of Oath and Victory)?]
The Lady of the Lake felt a burst of emptiness. She only knew that the other party's divine power was far above her, and had reached a terrifying level where she could not see the gap between them at all.
Not knowing the other party's intentions, she was as humble as she could be: "I dare not presumptuously claim the Holy Sword, I only provide a helping hand for the prosperity of Britain."
[I do not blame you. Entrusted by the will of the Celtic world, I am about to concurrently serve as the God-King of this world. I am the Aesir God-King—Thanes Paulson!]
Feeling the throbbing in the depths of her soul, and the recognition from the source of the world, the Lady of the Lake bowed again with a group of lake fairies, and shouted in unison: "Greetings, Our King!"
This established the master-servant relationship.
"Very good, then I will promote you to the Goddess of the Lake!"
