Stupid Odin

#242 - Look in the mirror

Soon, the victors emerged. One team of pitchers, enduring intense pain, finally managed to hurl the ball into the hoop with a combination of luck and skill.

It was a remarkable shot; if it were basketball, it would easily be a three-pointer from center court, nothing but net.

Time seemed to freeze at that moment.

The victors, disregarding the thorns on their bodies, began to raise their arms and cheer.

The defeated knelt on the ground in anguish, some even bursting into tears on the spot.

Outside the arena, the priests, leading a group of fierce-looking divine attendants, rushed into the arena, dragging the weeping, pleading losers out like dead dogs.

Some struggled desperately, their abraded fingers scraping bloody streaks on the ground.

Others resigned themselves to their fate, allowing the executioners to drag them away.

Still others were so frightened that they lost control of their bowels, leaving an unspeakable mess on the ground.

In the 'VIP seats,' several golden-haired goddesses were already covering their faces and weeping.

Afterward came the utterly disgusting scene of blood sacrifice…

The divine sense perspective transmitted by Loki's avatar ended there.

Tang Si suddenly realized that Loki was a very useful deity. He could handle both the dirty work and the heavy lifting.

The key was that, as a relative, Tang Si was pleasantly surprised to discover that he could, to some extent, connect to Loki's avatar and share a portion of his vision.

This was fantastic.

Seeing this, Loki himself showed an apologetic expression: "I'm sorry, Your Majesty, I can't contact my avatar for the time being."

Tang Si waved his hand: "It doesn't matter. Perhaps it's the influence of the chaotic forces, or some other reason. As long as he's not killed, there will be plenty of opportunities."

An avatar is different from a puppet.

A puppet requires a direct connection; it will collapse without the consciousness support of the controller.

An avatar possesses a fragment of the god's soul, and in a sense, is already a relatively independent individual, capable of thinking and acting on its own.

Even if it's blocked by the world barrier or some other reason, it's not a big problem.

After Tang Si showed this video to these core deities, Frey stepped forward: "Your Majesty, can anything be determined?"

Determined?

Of course, something could be determined.

It was just that the target was a little unexpected to Tang Si.

The leader of the opposing force was actually the Aztec pantheon.

These guys, if placed on Earth, would be a minor pantheon with influence limited to South America.

Their cruelty and blood sacrifices were quite famous.

What Tang Si didn't expect was…

"The Slavic pantheon actually lost to them."

Tang Si's murmur caused the gods to feel slightly surprised.

Thor asked in astonishment: "Is that the world ruin we picked up the other day?"

"Yes."

Enki interjected: "It seems like there's more than just that pantheon, right? It feels like there's another pantheon as well."

"Judging by their clothing, that pantheon seems closer to that main pantheon."

Tang Si roughly guessed that the other unlucky one was either the Inca pantheon or the Mayan pantheon. Instead of revealing the answer, he tapped the gods: "In any case, its size is about the same as the Jötunheimr world, and it's likely a vast world that has absorbed two or more worlds."

Some gods gasped, while others were eager to try.

Their attitudes were quite interesting.

Enki bowed again: "Your Majesty, I think we can show this video to the newly arrived Akkadian gods."

"Oh?" Tang Si's expression was a bit playful, and he nodded: "You may."

The newly arrived Akkadian gods must harbor resentment towards the powerful and tyrannical Aesir gods.

There is no harm without comparison.

What would they feel when they saw that the other two pantheons were forced to engage in a different kind of mutual slaughter after their defeat, just to please the dominator?

This was a cross-world accounting.

Look, the other side also lost. Not to mention dignity, they couldn't even protect their own divine attendants. They were destined to become sacrifices in the eyes of the dominator, reduced to objects of amusement for the other side's mortals.

This kind of mirror-like mental blow was the most likely to break the remaining Akkadian gods.

Sure enough, while Tang Si and the others were still in the meeting, a message came from the Palace of Joy that Sin, the Akkadian moon god, announced that he would follow the old Sumerian law and rename himself Nanna.

This represented both his intention to lean towards the Sumerian lineage and his abandonment of his old identity.

It should be known that a god changing their name is not a simple matter.

It involves faith, it involves one's position in the entire world, and it even represents the god severing their former foundation.

For the old believers, this is definitely a bad thing.

For Tang Si, the new boss, it felt like a promising student.

Tang Si ignored these newly surrendered Akkadian gods. Whether they were willing or not, they were destined to have a hard time in this upcoming war.

Ishtar sent another message from the front: "Report, Your Majesty! That unknown world is accelerating its collision with Jötunheimr. Moreover, the cosmic currents behind it seem to be accelerating due to some unknown reason."

Tang Si frowned.

In the overview he had devised, the three parallel cosmic currents already had the air of 'converging somewhere'.

The sudden acceleration of the currents, while partly due to the narrowing of the spatial passage, also meant that if Jötunheimr refused to move forward, it would have to pay more of its world origin as the price.

"This battle is unavoidable!" Tang Si sighed slightly.

Tyr said powerfully: "Then let's take the initiative to attack!"

"We can, but there's no need."

Tang Si seemed to say these words without any context. Foolish people wouldn't feel anything, but none of the core deities present were fools. They immediately realized that their god-king was probably starting to set up a backup plan again, and it was a backup plan that needed time.

The forest god Víðarr immediately responded: "Father God, then shall I prepare to synchronize with the roots of the World Tree?"

"First, retract the roots. Let's just make Jötunheimr look like an ordinary world." Tang Si winked.

"Okay!"

On the other side, the mortals of the Akkadian world were startled several times a day.

First, they saw the exaggerated flash that had appeared in the world again last time, and then a large number of priests were forcibly cut off from their connection with the gods at the same time.

In thousands of large and small temples throughout the Akkadian world, many bishops in gorgeous robes waited anxiously for the most terrible news to come.

Because one after another, the statues of the gods they believed in burst open—this often meant that the god had fallen.

But not long after, the remaining Akkadian gods sent down an oracle: [We have lost. The Aesir gods will become the masters of the Akkadian world. The merciful God-King Tang Si * Paulson announces that he will treat the remaining Akkadian gods kindly and do his best to arrange the reorganization of the world.]

Then, they found that the sky was covered with a thick film, presenting an unusual dimness.

The entire Akkadian world seemed to be wrapped in something.
