Sword and Magic and Taxi

Chapter 255 White Walker 1

As night fell, it began to rain. The misty rain mixed with snowflakes made the entire earth seem to be swallowed up by a huge white ghost. Custer's so-called fortress only has a low earth wall, and even a person with the size of the little devil Tyrion can climb over it, so it is basically just a decoration. But even so, everyone still prefers to rest on this side of the wall, not the other side.

Tonight is probably the last rain before winter, and from tomorrow it will only be snow, or there may be an ice storm. The weather is getting worse and won't get better for a few years. This will be the longest winter in the history of Westeros, and it will also be the most difficult one. Unlike the locals, Zhao Mai clearly knows the threat of the White Walkers, and they will take advantage of winter to march south to attack the kingdom of the living. The last time they did this, the Seven Kingdoms were still ruled by House Targaryen, and they still had dragons, really huge fire-breathing dragons. Relying on the power of the dragon, the White Walkers were driven back and the Great Wall was saved. But this time, humans have long since lost their dragons.

Zhao Mai couldn't help but think of the one he saw in the Mingyue Mountains, hoping that it could help humans in the battle against the White Walkers. There is something very wrong with this world. It seems that it is not just as simple as Zhong Jianbai said, the intensity is increasing and the stability is decreasing. This feeling kept lingering in his mind, and he couldn't figure it out or forget it, making him unable to sleep.

But most of the night watchmen were asleep. The house was for Custer and his wives, so the night watchers couldn't get a share, but it had a nice walled yard and a fire to cuddle up with. Zhao Mai sat on the roof looking at the fortress, waiting for Custer to appear. His psychic energy penetrated through the cracks in the roof and walls, spying on the rough, strong and ugly guy.

In the middle of the night, he suddenly opened his eyes, as if he had been awakened by some kind of nightmare. Caster reached out and touched the quilt, sniffed his fingers, and then started to put on his clothes.

The newborn child slept soundly in his swaddling clothes. He only drank his mother's milk once and still thought he was safe and happy. Custer grabbed the swaddle and glanced at his child. Zhao Mai observed with the last hope, hoping to see grief or nostalgia in Custer's eyes. But there was only coldness in those eyes, and the only disgust was directed at the poor boy, not himself. So Zhao Mai stood up and used natural force to massage his muscles to prepare his body for battle.

Custer didn't push the door open, but went to the basement. Through a secret door, he entered the real storage room. There were mountains of food here, including enough pickled lamb legs and pork legs to feed his family for three years. Zhao Mai's psychic vision followed him all the time, watching him pick up an egg from the reserve, chew it with the skin on, and wipe his mouth with unfinished content.

Behind the storage room is a secret escape tunnel, which opens two miles away from the fortress, under a huge pine tree. Custer crawled out, breathing white ice mist and walking deeper into the forest. His black feet made a crunching sound on the ground, but the footprints were quickly buried and disappeared. Tomorrow morning, the night watchman will not find this trail, and will not know where these children have gone.

Zhao Mai was holding the reserve grain, with small flowers in the back of the reserve grain, and everyone kept jumping among the branches, always following Custer's head. Psychic powers and the force of nature work together, making him like a combination of a silent owl and an agile ape.

Custer walked quickly through the forest with firm steps, and soon left the fortress and came to a secret altar deep in the forest. A pillar made of ice crystals grew out of the soil. It was about the same thickness as a human leg. When it reached about chest height, it expanded to form a platform shape with open hands. Custer placed his newborn son on the platform, looked around, then turned away.

His footprints disappeared quickly, frozen and covered by ice and snow like his heart. Zhao Mai landed on the ground and came to the baby's side, finding that he was shivering. But he was too young to fight the severe cold around him, or even cry. Zhao Mai put down the grain reserves and small flowers, took out a cherry with the magic berry technique, removed the core, squeezed out the juice, and dripped it into the baby's mouth.

The child licked his lips, seemed to have a little more strength, and showed a sweet smile. His eyeballs moved hard under his eyelids, but even if he opened his eyes, he was not old enough to see Zhao Mai's face. Zhao Mai chanted a spell and gathered the power of nature to produce warm fire to help the child resist the severe cold.

The wind and snow suddenly intensified, and large tracts of snow whizzed past Zhao Mai's ears from behind. Zhao Mai frowned, suddenly feeling something was wrong. Be careful, behind you, Zhao Mai, get out of the way! Xiaohua's voice sounded, as well as the sudden cry of the food reserve.

Zhao Mai then immediately moved sideways. But it was too late, a spear made of ice crystals stabbed his shoulder, but fortunately his heart was able to avoid the blow, and the magic leather armor was tough enough to prevent the spear from touching his skin.

Zhao Mai rolled on the spot, the hunter's blood spear had been drawn out, and the flame spells were gathered in the other hand. This is a battle that needs no introduction, and neither side has any intention of instigating the other.

The White Walker was like a pale shadow, its whole body exuding cold air, and ice shards kept falling from its body, making a tinkling sound when it hit the ground. ‘Strange, why haven’t I heard this sound before? ’ The White Walkers have humanoid forms, but they are not complete entities. Instead, they are more like ghosts hidden in the mist. Although his naked and shriveled body can be seen, it is probably just a projection. Against this type of enemy, stocking up on food won't help much. Take Xiaohua to one side and teleport away if you encounter danger!

A gust of wind blew, and the White Walkers seemed to be blown away, drifting to the side with the wind, making no sound at all. It turns out that this is the secret of their silent movement. It seems that we should be careful about the wind in our ears in the future. Zhao Mai stared at the bright blue eyes of the White Walkers, raised his hand and cast the fire of the natural force!

Three small red fire beads flew over, and the White Walkers tilted their heads and watched curiously. It seemed to be observing the natural force in this spell. It had probably been a long time since anyone had cast a spell in front of them, so it showed a moment of pause. But it immediately showed excellent combat reactions. It moved quickly, drew an arc to avoid three fire beads, and rushed towards Zhao Mai.

Its movements are fast and violent, and have long exceeded the scope of humans. If Jon and others were to deal with it, they would be in a hurry. But it's not as good as Zhao Mai. There was only a dang sound as the ice crystal spear and the hunter's blood spear collided. The psychic power contained in the muscles burst out at this moment. Zhao Mai shook his arm and pushed the ice crystal spear aside.

The hunter's blood spear went down and went straight to the open heart of the White Walkers! There was another clang sound, and the blood spear actually hit a layer of hard shell, and the offensive was stopped abruptly.

The blue halo at the tip of the spear quickly faded, and a layer of ice crystals climbed up. Zhao Mai was horrified, he felt the effect of ice freezing the soul! In fact, the White Walker was also very surprised. If it were normally hit by a weapon, it would not cause any damage, but would immediately turn into ice cubes and then shatter in the collision. The spear that hit the chest did not break immediately, which shows that it is of excellent quality. However, the ice crystal has already climbed up, and the rest is just a matter of time.

The White Walker once again swung the ice crystal spear and chopped it off Zhao Mai's head. Zhao Mai immediately retracted his weapon and rolled back to avoid it. He didn't want his hunter's blood spear to collide with the ice crystal weapon again. Wouldn't it be tragic if it broke? He did not hesitate to put the weapon back into the storage bracelet to avoid further damage.

Standing opposite the White Walkers with empty hands, Zhao Mai still had bellicose flames burning in his eyes. Seeing that the thrust of his spear was difficult to achieve, the White Walker touched the barrel of the spear with his hand and transformed it into a long sword.

Blue eyes stared at Zhao Mai, and a terrible laughter floated from its mouth.
