The Admiral of Hogwarts
#201 - Valentine's Day Horror
The decorations in the Great Hall on Valentine's Day could be said to have completely shattered Hugo's bottom line on aesthetics, because the originally solemn white marble walls were covered with large, dazzling pink flowers.
To make matters worse, countless heart-shaped confetti kept falling from the light blue ceiling.
After carefully removing a few pieces of confetti from his milk with a fork, Hugo immediately started eating his sandwich with the milk.
"The charlatan is indeed a charlatan, but being able to achieve this level must mean he has some special skills," Hermione said, giving Lockhart his first positive evaluation since returning from the United States, as she looked at the transformed Great Hall.
Sure enough, compared to the boys who looked disgusted, the girls still preferred this romantic arrangement that seemed to be bubbling with pink bubbles, even Hermione, who knew Lockhart's true colors, was no exception.
However, when Lockhart appeared on the stage wearing a pink outfit that symbolized the same sexual orientation as Dumbledore in England, Hugo simply grabbed his half-eaten sandwich and left the Great Hall.
Because he really didn't want to watch what Lockhart was about to do next, even though he felt embarrassed enough to dig his toes into the ground when he read about it in his previous life.
"What are these things?" Hermione, who also didn't want to listen to Lockhart, came out at this time, and then pointed to a group of leprechauns passing by them and asked.
"Leprechauns, I think the books we read before should have introduced them," Hugo replied, but he also realized what his sister wanted to ask when he spoke.
"As for the golden wings on their bodies and the harps in their hands, they should be decorations Lockhart gave them, probably wanting to imitate Cupid."
"I really don't know if Lockhart's aesthetics are the problem, or if the aesthetics of the entire wizarding world are the problem," Hermione shook her head helplessly after listening to Hugo's guess.
For a whole day, the dwarves kept breaking into their classrooms, delivering Valentine's Day cards, which annoyed the teachers to no end.
At the same time, because these dwarves were really a bit muddle-headed, the romantic love confessions they created were more like a public execution in some sense to the recipients.
Under such circumstances, these leprechauns hired by Lockhart quickly became an existence hated by the vast majority of teachers and students. But there were still a small number of students with different ideas or who wanted to stir up trouble who kept supporting these leprechauns running around.
In just one morning, Veneto received no less than ten love letters or musical messages. The reason for this situation was that even if the ship girls consciously tried to make themselves look ugly, they still stood out from the crowd.
Therefore, many people, even if they could see Veneto's affection for Hugo, would try to send her a love letter during such an opportunity.
Veneto basically responded to these love letter senders with a smile. After all, for the wizards in England, marriage partners were basically found among these fellow students, so campus romance was a very common thing.
Therefore, under this background, although she was a little unhappy in her heart, she could understand the thoughts of those hormone-filled guys.
So, she politely accepted or listened to those letters in public, but after class, she naturally threw the received items into the trash can to show her attitude.
In the afternoon, Hugo and the others were planning to go to the classroom on the third floor for class when they saw a small figure running over quickly from a distance.
At first, Hugo thought this was another guy planning to send a love letter to Veneto, but after that guy ran closer, Hugo didn't hear him singing or reciting those clumsy poems, but instead let out a scream full of fear.
"Dead, dead—" The little leprechaun kept shouting this word, and then ran quickly towards the Great Hall.
"Is the basilisk coming?" Hugo asked Veneto through the admiral network, while subconsciously drawing his wand and taking half a step forward.
"Don't worry, my admiral, there are no traces of any large animals passing by around," Veneto assured Hugo confidently. "So either this guy is making a fuss, or something did pass by here, but it has already left."
The little leprechaun's scream alarmed many people, but before Hugo and the others had time to decide whether to go and see the excitement, a professor came out to clean up the mess, so they could only go to class as usual.
"What exactly happened?" After sitting down in the classroom, Hugo asked Enterprise through the admiral network. "Did someone unfortunately die?"
"Of course not, my dear commander," In a classroom upstairs, Enterprise said to Hugo while examining the corpse in her hand with a serious face.
"The deceased is a school owl. According to the examination, it can be determined that this owl was not injured or poisoned, as if its soul suddenly left its body."
"How is it, did you find anything?" After watching Enterprise complete the examination and hand the dead owl in her hand to Snape, Dumbledore looked at Enterprise with his blue eyes and asked.
"The basic examination has been completed," Enterprise nodded and said, "At least according to the current situation, there are only two possible causes of death for this owl. Either it was hit by a Killing Curse, or it was the unknown monster in the Chamber of Secrets."
After listening to Enterprise's words, Headmaster Dumbledore nodded, and then stood there quietly again. And a few minutes later, Snape also came to a conclusion similar to Enterprise's.
"Albus, … you must know … who?" Professor McGonagall, who was the oldest person present besides the headmaster and also knew a lot about the school, said after listening to Enterprise and Snape's analysis.
"The question is not who," Dumbledore's eyes stayed on the soft dead owl, and said, "The question is, how … …"
The other professors present were all confused after listening to Professor McGonagall and Headmaster Dumbledore's conversation. But Enterprise knew exactly what these two senior professors were talking about.
Because the way this owl died was too similar to the cause of Moaning Myrtle's death back then, but back then there was still young Voldemort to suspect, but now, even Dumbledore is not sure what this attack is all about.
After a few seconds of silence, the headmaster asked the professors to leave. And he returned to the headmaster's office and reported this new attack to the Ministry of Magic and the school board as required.
For Hugo, his most direct feeling about this attack was that all the leprechauns disappeared after the attack, which made his ears a lot quieter.
However, after the news of the owl's death spread, the atmosphere in the school became tense again.
In a very short period of time, those amulets and magical defense tools that had disappeared before reappeared on everyone's bodies.
Then, starting from some day after the attack, a rumor that Hagrid was the mastermind behind the scenes began to circulate in the school.
