The Admiral of Hogwarts
#463 - Changing situation
Seeing the indifferent expression on Harry's face, Hugo finally understood why Harry and his friends were so carefree in the original book, still holding their DA meetings as usual even when someone was mysteriously missing.
Because in Harry's mind, this person who had never demonstrated their magical abilities in front of everyone was likely the same kind of fraud as Lockhart in their second year, so naturally, he didn't take her seriously.
"Don't underestimate Umbridge. It's true that her ability to climb to where she is today is inseparable from her scheming. But a person who only knows how to flatter can't possibly climb from the lowest-level employee in the Ministry of Magic to where she is today."
Hugo, seeing that Harry and the others still looked unconvinced, dropped a bombshell. "According to the information I've gathered, Umbridge can conjure a corporeal Patronus in the form of a cat."
Umbridge being able to conjure a corporeal Patronus wasn't a secret in the Ministry of Magic. After all, this was a huge plus, and instead of concealing it, she would want to publicize it.
Unlike the world of ordinary people, wizards have relatively high requirements for individual strength, even for positions that don't require magical abilities. Therefore, wizards who can master stronger spellcasting abilities naturally gain more respect.
"Merlin!" "Unbelievable!" Harry and the others widened their eyes in surprise upon hearing the last sentence. Especially for Harry, as a wizard who could conjure a corporeal Patronus, he knew how difficult it was.
"Then why doesn't she show off her magic? I've never seen her demonstrate her magical strength. She's only cast spells a little more often than Lockhart," Ginny asked after a few seconds of silence, voicing her inner question.
Because wizards would respect those with great magical power no matter what, and if Umbridge demonstrated her magical abilities, she would likely face less resistance than she does now.
"That's because she can achieve her goals without casting spells. After all, she currently represents the hand of the Ministry of Magic reaching into Hogwarts, so using this method is more likely to provoke the school," Hugo shrugged.
"And if she doesn't use magic, it can elevate this provocation to the highest level. Besides, even if she really wanted to demonstrate magic, who in the entire British wizarding world could defeat our headmaster?"
Just then, the healing on Harry's hand was nearing its end. As the last wisp of black mist emerged from the back of Harry's hand, Hugo quickly cast a spell to preserve the scar on the back of Harry's hand.
"I've preserved the wound for you so that the old toad won't be able to see anything amiss," Hugo said, putting away his wand after finishing the spell.
"I personally suggest that you try not to provoke Umbridge too much recently, because compared to venting your emotions, I believe you should have more valuable things to do right now."
"Understood." Watching Hermione wave her wand to make the piece of flesh that had been completely corrupted by the transfer of dark magic disappear, Harry nodded seriously. "I will try my best to control my emotions."
"Do you think Harry can control himself?" Hermione asked, walking to Hugo's side after watching Harry, Ron, and Ginny leave the empty classroom.
"It's going to be difficult," Hugo shrugged. "I believe Harry was sincere when he said that just now, but now his mind is connected to the Dark Lord, so it's hard to say whether he can control himself or not."
"Isn't Snape teaching him Occlumency? I heard Snape is a master of Occlumency. After learning it a few times, shouldn't it allow him to sever the connection with the Dark Lord?"
"My dear sister, you're making things too simple," Hugo said with a somewhat helpless tone. "You learned it quickly because you had the T督 network's blessing, but ordinary humans don't have that!"
"Besides, although there are many ways to practice Occlumency, Snape is using the method of attacking the learner with the Legilimency curse, making the learner try to repel the power that is invading their mind."
"Think about the relationship between Snape and Harry. How could Harry learn Occlumency when Snape is constantly looking at his private thoughts?"
"That's terrible," Hermione shuddered. The thought of having someone she really disliked rummaging through the privacy in her mind was terrifying.
Fortunately, it's not like there isn't any good news right now. For example, because his brother is now placed in a special protected area, Hagrid's previous injuries have obviously almost healed.
However, although he looked much better physically than before, he looked preoccupied while eating, his face somewhat pale. So after finishing breakfast, Hugo and his two friends stopped him.
"You look a little rough?" Venetto had always been a straightforward person, so after saying hello, she asked directly, "Did that pink toad make things difficult for you?"
"A little, because I received a notice of probation." Because the description of the words was so appropriate, Hagrid immediately understood what Venetto was talking about.
"Of course, such a small evaluation won't have any impact on me, but if you add preparing lessons and treating the newts' tails for scale rot for the younger years, people will naturally be a little tired."
"Probation? Umbridge seems to be trying to replace all the professors with people from the Ministry of Magic. So she can't wait to drive away those she doesn't like," Hugo said with some indignation.
"So you should still prepare for Magical Creatures according to the exam content recently. Don't let Umbridge catch you again, especially since that guy is a disgusting racist."
"Okay, I'll try my best. But to be honest, she doesn't need any excuse to fire people," Hagrid sighed. "I've seen too much of this kind of thing. I don't think she'll make an exception for me."
As an old man of Hagrid's generation, who fought against Voldemort and has worked at Hogwarts for half a century, he has experienced too many things, so he can naturally guess what Umbridge is thinking.
After speaking, Hagrid changed the subject: "Now I should go put some chili powder on the newts, otherwise their tails will fall off too. Goodbye, Hugo, Hermione, and Venetto."
After speaking, Hagrid left with heavy steps, watching his huge and lonely figure leave the front door, go down the steps, and walk into the damp field. Hugo sensed a feeling of desolation.
"Can't Dumbledore be more proactive?" Hermione asked with some confusion, looking at Hagrid's back, "I don't understand what's the point of him being passively beaten at this time?"
"You say be more proactive, but how should Dumbledore be proactive?" Hugo sighed and said. "The Ministry of Magic controls public opinion and power. Headmaster Dumbledore has always been at a disadvantage in this regard."
"The only way to reverse the current situation is for Dumbledore to actively launch a civil war. But that's probably what the Dark Lord needs, because if everyone is caught in a civil war, then he can easily and quickly accumulate strength in the dark and then take everyone out in one fell swoop."
