#239 - Solve and prepare to cross
The noisy room returned to silence under the Electro's performance. Even the heartbroken little girl, Han Xin, stopped crying. She thought Electro was performing magic, her eyes fixed on the electricity he shot out, temporarily forgetting her tears.
"My, my power," Electro said, looking at his hands in despair, as if he had once again become the ordinary lineman he used to be.
No! Even more pathetic than before. He was now on the verge of death, perhaps dying in the next second. The thought of death finally terrified Electro.
"Please, please," Electro said, trembling as he lay down, prostrating himself on the ground, begging with a sob. "Please forgive me, I promise to turn over a new leaf."
However, Yang Le ignored him. He glanced at Overdrive to check on his condition, finding him slumped on the ground, gasping for breath.
Overdrive's once-proud armor was now a burden. His old and weak body couldn't withstand the armor's enhancements. Overdrive's breathing sounded like a broken bellows, as if he could die at any moment.
This was only after Yang Le accelerated his body's time. If he accelerated the armor as well, it was unknown whether it would even be usable after decades. Without the power support, it might directly crush Overdrive to death.
As for Han Xin, she was still a child. Exhausted, she could only droop her head, sitting on the ground in her own world. With the night deepening, it wouldn't be surprising if she fell asleep at any moment.
Looking at Nitro in front of him, oh, the poor kid, he was terrified. Beads of sweat dripped down his face, and his body trembled slightly, like a drowned quail.
"Now it's your turn," Yang Le said, raising his hand to place it on Nitro, but the latter, like a cat whose fur had stood on end, ducked down and scurried away from Yang Le on all fours.
In truth, if Yang Le wanted to, there was no way Nitro could escape his control, but he was curious about the other's next move, so he didn't stop him, watching as he fled to his three teammates.
"D-don't move!" Nitro turned around, looking at Yang Le with a ferocious expression, threatening him.
"If you dare move again, I'll self-destruct. Half of Queens will be blown to the sky."
Yang Le's expression finally changed from ^_^ to =_=. He was speechless at Nitro. He thought he would have some brilliant ideas, but he could only come up with the cliché of using hostages as a threat.
"I advise you not to do this," Yang Le earnestly advised.
"Threaten me!" Nitro's expression became even more ferocious. "You think I don't dare?"
Yang Le sighed and raised his thick leg, walking towards Nitro.
"Don't move!" Nitro roared, startling the drowsy Han Xin.
"I'll self-destruct if you move again!"
But Yang Le seemed not to hear, continuing to walk forward, muttering something at the same time.
"It's been ten minutes already. I promised someone I'd be back within half an hour, plus I need to buy supper, so I need to hurry."
His words completely ignored Nitro, not taking him seriously at all, which was provoking Nitro's nerves.
"Go to hell, freak!" Nitro shouted, then initiated self-destruction.
But Yang Le, who had been strolling forward, suddenly appeared in front of Nitro, placing his right hand on Nitro's shoulder, which had not yet disintegrated, with lightning speed, then...
Everything stopped. Nitro's expression froze on the last second of madness before self-destruction. His body also stopped at the moment of crumbling, and the flames and smoke that wanted to surge out of his body were all fixed, like a work of art.
Retracting his right hand, which was glowing white, everything was now settled. Now, Yang Le only needed to do one thing.
That was to notify the "police" to clean up the mess.
"Perhaps you could be a little more polite to the police," Gwen suggested after listening to Yang Le's description. "After all, my dad used to be a police officer."
"Oh, should I tell your dad about your resentment towards the police?" Yang Le leaned back on the sofa, looking at Gwen teasingly.
Hearing Yang Le say this, Gwen could only give a French military salute. There was no way around it. Although the old man had resigned, he had been a police officer for more than ten years and still had feelings for his old unit. Although George wouldn't blame Gwen for this, the thought of the old man's resentful eyes made Gwen raise her hands in surrender.
"My bad," Gwen said helplessly, but then she changed the subject and asked, "Now that Nitro has been dealt with, when are we leaving?"
"In the next couple of days, you decide," Yang Le decided to give the choice to Gwen. After all, although Universe 65B could be considered his second hometown, he only had a few contacts in this universe, which highly overlapped with Gwen.
And Yang Le had greeted these people together with Gwen, so naturally there was nothing to miss. But Gwen was different. She was a native of this universe, and she naturally had more contacts than him, so it was best for Gwen to decide.
"Then let's make it the day after tomorrow," Gwen thought for a moment, leaning on Yang Le's shoulder. "I still have to say goodbye to Mary Jane and the others."
The members of Mary Jane's band were the only ones besides Peter and the others who didn't look at her with strange eyes after learning her identity, so Gwen still wanted to maintain this friendship.
"Whatever you say," Yang Le said affectionately, also resting his head on Gwen's head.
Time flew by, and in the blink of an eye, the day after tomorrow arrived. Gwen said goodbye to the members of Mary Jane's band, went shopping together, played music together, and had a good time.
Finally, on the day of departure, Gwen made a small suggestion to Yang Le, which was to go to Universe 1610B before going to TRN-123, because she had made an appointment to meet Penny there.
Yang Le was very puzzled by this and asked, "Penny, how did you contact her?"
Gwen raised her hand, and a bracelet appeared in front of Yang Le, looking similar to the time-travel bracelet given by the British Spider before.
Gwen said, "Penny gave it to me. She modified the time-space bracelet into a cross-dimensional communicator. Shadow Spider and the others have it too."
"How come I don't have one?" Yang Le looked at Gwen's bracelet jealously. "Are you spiders excluding me?"
Hearing Yang Le's words, Gwen just rolled her eyes and said unhappily, "Didn't someone disappear halfway through the mission? Penny couldn't find you and didn't have any extra materials, so naturally there wasn't one for you."
"Then, then why didn't you tell me?" Yang Le was speechless and could only find another way, accusing Gwen of hiding it from him.
Seeing this, Gwen just smiled and said, "Girls' talk, naturally it's impossible to tell a boy."
