The Comprehensive Evolution of American Comics

#25 - Garbage man builds computer

Unlike the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents who were on high alert, Yang Le began to rummage through the other end of the exhibition hall.

Strangely enough, many large companies participated in this exhibition, but none of them came to clean up the aftermath of the accident in a timely manner.

Of course, it may also be because S.H.I.E.L.D. had blocked the area.

“In that case, I should thank S.H.I.E.L.D.,” Yang Le muttered as he touched and looked around. Without the support of a clever and intelligent mind, he couldn't recognize which items were valuable and he needed.

But even if they were valuable, it would be useless. The Rhino had turned this place upside down, and there were basically no intact items left.

“Forget it, a junkyard scrounger should be aware of his situation.” Yang Le used his Ice Breath to freeze several boards together, making a box half a meter high, and then picked up some relatively intact items from the ground and threw them inside.

Before long, the box was filled to the brim by Yang Le. The items inside were miscellaneous, but the vast majority were mechanical equipment.

Yang Le looked at his harvest with satisfaction and nodded. Just as he was about to pick up the box and leave, he heard a burst of footsteps.

The footsteps were very light, and it was difficult for ordinary people to notice them even in the silent exhibition hall, but the not-so-ordinary Ice Phantom noticed the sound of feet stepping on various fragments.

With a thought, Yang Le activated his Intangibility, his body once again disappearing into the darkness, and he began to survey the surroundings from mid-air.

Sure enough, Yang Le noticed several sneaky figures in mid-air. They were those S.H.I.E.L.D. agents.

Yang Le originally thought that these agents were just searching here by chance, but when he saw them holding guns and being so vigilant, Yang Le changed his mind.

‘Are there other people here? Or have I been exposed?’

Yang Le looked at the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents who were cooperating to search the area and fell into deep thought.

These agents shouldn't have any means of directly finding him. After he became intangible, he floated openly in mid-air right in front of them, but they haven't seen him until now, which means they don't have the means to see him.

These agents shouldn't have a clear target either. If the target was clear, then the dozen or so agents would have been dispatched, and Melinda would have come over, instead of just these few.

So, these agents must have discovered him through some clues, but what exactly was it?

Yang Le habitually touched his chin when he was thinking. Suddenly, he felt a chill on his fingers. He looked down and found frost appearing on his fingers.

‘Damn, it's because of the Ice Phantom's breath.’ Yang Le found the key point. It was probably because he was too close to those agents when he was peeking just now, and they felt it.

Yang Le was speechless for a while. In fact, the Ice Phantom doesn't need to breathe, but habit still made him breathe subconsciously. He didn't expect that it would expose him.

Yang Le silently noted in his heart that having human habits is a bad habit for aliens, and he needs to pay attention to it in the future.

Yang Le looked at the agents getting closer and closer to his box and decided to take the initiative while there were few people.

The agents' positions were relatively scattered. Although this position could quickly search the scene, it also gave Yang Le an opportunity.

Yang Le flew behind the agent at the very back, controlled his strength, and directly knocked him unconscious.

After putting the unconscious agent aside, Yang Le used the same method to solve the other two agents. These agents may be elites among humans, but they were powerless against an alien hero. Yang Le, who had the advantage of being invisible, found it even easier to deal with them.

While no other agents came over, Yang Le hugged the collected box and left the exhibition hall through the window.

“Mel, Nick and the others have lost contact.” Melinda, who was searching elsewhere, heard Lisa's report.

Melinda immediately pressed her hand on the communication device on her right ear.

“How long have they been out of contact? Can you locate their positions?”

“I called them 3 minutes ago and didn't get a response. The location shows that they are now in Area C of the exhibition hall.”

“Received, I'll take people over there immediately.” Melinda stopped communicating and led her team towards Area C.

‘I hope nothing happens.’ Melinda thought worriedly.

Unlike the worried Melinda, Yang Le, who was full of harvest, also rushed back to his home at this time.

After putting the box on the table, Yang Le moved his limbs and then yawned.

“Ha~ah, today is really a busy day.” Yang Le rubbed his sore eyes and looked at the time, and found that it was already midnight.

“Let's do the rest tomorrow.” Yang Le rubbed his shoulders and prepared to go to bed.

As soon as Yang Le lay down on the hammock, his phone rang. He picked it up and saw that it was Gwen who sent the message. When Yang Le saw the prompt, he found that Gwen had sent a lot of messages.

Yang Le clicked it open and saw that the first one was asking where he was, telling him not to take it to heart, and that she would resolve the misunderstanding between Yang Le and her father.

The second one asked him about the spider superpowers, and then there were some apologies, probably because he thought he was angry so he didn't read the message.

Yang Le smiled knowingly and felt like typing a reply.

Yang Le: ‘Sorry, I was too tired just now so I was sleeping all the time, just woke up.’

Gwen: ‘You scared me to death. I saw that the message wasn't read, and I thought you were angry.’

Yang Le: ‘Not to that extent.’

Gwen: ‘Sorry, my dad was too impulsive.’

Yang Le: ‘Understandable, he's eager to protect his daughter. You have a good father, Gwen.’

Gwen: ‘I'm glad you think so, Hobby.’

Yang Le: ‘Although I'm the one who suffered.’

Gwen: ‘?’

Yang Le: ‘What are you question marking? I'm the one who had his clothes torn and was seen naked.’

Gwen rubbed her eyes and decided not to dwell on this topic for too long.

Gwen: ‘What are your thoughts on my changes?’

Yang Le straightened his expression when he saw the question Gwen raised, after all, they were talking about a serious topic.

Yang Le: ‘It's too troublesome to type, it's difficult to write clearly in a few words.’

Yang Le: ‘How about this, do you have time tomorrow?’

Gwen thought about it. Normally, she should be in class tomorrow, but because of the Rhino incident and her fainting, George specially asked for three days of leave for her to recuperate, and because of the spider abilities, she also happily accepted it. By the way, Peter and Mary Jane also happily got three days off.

Gwen: ‘I'm free, do you need me to come find you? You probably can't come to my house for a while.’

Yang Le: ‘It's okay, then let's meet at the old time and old place tomorrow, it shouldn't take too long.’

Maybe Gwen was infected by the confidence between the lines of Yang Le's words. The frown on Gwen's face gradually eased. Maybe this is why she likes to be with Yang Le. Yang Le can always give her a sense of security.

Gwen: ‘Okay, then let's meet at the old place, good night.’

Yang Le: ‘Good night.’
