#273 - School District Housing
The thick trunk and lush canopy made it hard to believe that just five minutes ago, this massive tree was merely a seed.
"This is… a treehouse?" Liam asked, tentatively.
"That's right, it's a treehouse," replied Yang Le, nodding. "I used my abilities to cultivate it. I used to live in this house because my appearance is a bit strange, and no one was willing to rent me a place."
Magneto patted Yang Le on the shoulder encouragingly, signaling that he shouldn't dwell on the past, then said, "Shall we introduce Happy to it?"
"Oh, of course," Yang Le said, walking towards the tree hollow. The tree hollow wasn't directly open; a wooden door was embedded in it, complete with a built-in handle and even a keyhole beside the handle.
"This is the treehouse door. You need a key to enter. Don't underestimate this wooden door; even small-caliber firearms won't leave a mark on it."
Yang Le opened his right hand, and a uniquely shaped wooden stick, about the length of a finger, emerged from his palm. At the end of the stick was a nail-sized wooden sphere.
"This is the key. I'm sure no one in the world can replicate this key because the most important part for opening the door is the sphere at the end. This sphere is actually a fruit that grows roots upon contact with the keyhole, and those roots are responsible for opening the door."
As Yang Le spoke, he inserted the key into the keyhole. Unseen, the seed within the keyhole shed its outer layer, and tiny roots burrowed into the lock, opening the door with a click in an instant.
"The treehouse isn't large, just a single room with a bathroom, but the interior is fully furnished with real solid wood furniture."
Yang Le said half-jokingly as he fully opened the door, allowing everyone to see inside. Liam craned her neck, naturally standing in the front row due to her age and height, easily seeing the entire interior, just as Yang Le had described.
"That thick root in the corner is the bed, that protruding small room is the bathroom, and the thing that looks like a thick tree stump inside is the toilet. Your waste can become nutrients for this treehouse. These two roots here are the desk and chair…"
Yang Le introduced the treehouse's features from the outside, and everyone's eyes lit up. This treehouse was much better than the dilapidated wooden houses they currently lived in. After all, the people here were originally ordinary citizens, and how many ordinary citizens know how to build houses now?
"This is amazing!" Liam exclaimed, taking the lead in praising it. She couldn't help but be secretly alarmed because as soon as she finished speaking, others followed suit with their compliments.
Faced with everyone's heartfelt praise, Yang Le couldn't help but scratch his head, not to maintain his persona, but because he genuinely felt embarrassed.
"I can make five more treehouses like this," Yang Le said, suppressing his surging emotions. Even though he could instantly provide treehouses for everyone, he still needed to hide his capabilities.
"Everyone can decide who gets to live in the treehouses first. The remaining treehouses may have to wait until my strength recovers."
After speaking, Yang Le lowered his head, looking ashamed, as if he was blaming himself for not handling things perfectly.
"You've already done a great job, brother," Gambit said, stepping out of the crowd and walking to Yang Le's side to comfort him. "Everyone here is grateful to you. You brought us food and provided us with shelter. Our lives have undergone earth-shattering changes because of you. To be honest, I can't even imagine what we would do without you in the future."
The others immediately echoed in agreement, making Yang Le feel like he couldn't hold back anymore.
"Alright, alright, everyone!" Yang Le quickly stopped them. If they continued, he would combust from embarrassment. "It's getting late. Let's talk about the treehouse allocation first."
Seeing this, everyone guessed that Yang Le was shy and let out kind laughter. Indeed, it was late, and it was time to get down to business.
"Give the treehouses to the headmaster and teachers first!" someone shouted, followed by a chorus of agreement.
"Yes! Headmaster and the teachers work so hard!"
"That's right! That's right!"
No one objected. Yang Le could tell that this was everyone's true thought. Everyone looked up and sincerely suggested it.
"Alright, everyone," Magneto said, and the noisy voices immediately disappeared. "I understand your feelings. The teachers do work very hard, and it's no problem for them to have comfortable residences first."
Scott and the other teachers wanted to speak, but out of respect for Magneto, they didn't speak without permission and prepared to offer their opinions after Magneto finished.
"As for me," Magneto chuckled. "I still have a pile of materials to sort out. Besides, I can only stabilize the magnetic field of the Sky Island in that location on the island, so I can't move easily, so I'll postpone it."
This sentence directly blocked the possibility of others persuading him. Helpless, everyone could only agree to let the respected headmaster live in the current dilapidated wooden house first.
"Don't worry, everyone," Yang Le comforted the crowd. "I will definitely make the most beautiful treehouse for the headmaster."

With Yang Le's guarantee, everyone ended the meeting with satisfaction. Seeing this, Yang Le went to plant trees on his own.
"Headmaster," Scott and the other teachers walked over. Magneto immediately saw their thoughts, which were nothing more than wanting to give up the houses.
"What's wrong, Scott?" Magneto smiled and looked like a kind middle-aged uncle. No one could tell that he was actually a mutant capable of destroying the Earth.
"We want to give the treehouse to others," Scott said. "Many people need a comfortable living environment more than us."
"Sure," Everyone was originally prepared to argue, but they didn't expect Magneto to agree so readily. "Provided you can convince others to live in it."
"This…" Scott was stunned. He had seen everyone's firm attitude before, and it was clear that they couldn't change it.
"Rest early, Scott, and everyone else," Magneto chuckled. "Don't you have classes to teach tomorrow? Don't get up later than the students, or I'll deduct your salary."
Everyone smiled wryly. At the Xavier's Institute for Gifted Youngsters, money was the most useless thing. It didn't circulate on the island, and no one outside the island did business with them, so no one here had ever taken money seriously.
