#330 - Kr Project
'No wonder.' Robin continued to record everything he saw with the microcomputer.
'I knew there was such a huge facility underground, and its power consumption must be very alarming. The Justice League couldn't possibly miss something so obvious. It turns out it's not connected to the national grid, nor does it rely on other energy sources, but on these creatures for power generation.'
Aqualad walked over to Robin and said, 'In mythology, Cadmus created new species by planting dragon teeth in the soil. Obviously, the Cadmus Institute is doing the same thing.'
Kid Flash looked at everything in front of him and felt a strange sense of familiarity. Just as he was about to think further about where this familiarity came from, he lost consciousness.
'Kid Flash? What's wrong?' Martian Girl's voice came, and the other three also heard Martian Girl's voice in the telepathic channel and turned their heads.
Kid Flash covered his forehead, shook his head painfully, and said, 'I'm fine, I just suddenly felt dizzy. Maybe it's because of the creatures in those jars?'
'Really? I thought you lost consciousness just now.' Martian Girl said uneasily. 'After all, you just disconnected.'
'It's okay, if I really fainted, I would definitely fall to the ground.' Kid Flash put down his hand, looking no different from usual.
'Kid Flash, if you really feel uncomfortable, you must tell us.' Aqualad walked over, his face full of worry.
'I know.' Kid Flash nodded.
'It seems that staying here for a long time may have some impact on the human body.' Robin glanced at the strange creatures around him. 'Then we have to move faster.'
With that, Robin walked to the computer next to him. It looked like that should be the console controlling these creatures.
Robin pulled out a data cable from the microcomputer on his arm, connected it to the computer, and began his performance.
Through his own designed program, Robin successfully broke through the computer's protection system without much effort, and then various information about the Cadmus Institute appeared before their eyes.
'These guys are called gene-mods, oh my god, look at these ability data: super strength, telepathy, razor claws, iron skin, bio-electricity, this is a bunch of biological weapons!'
Hearing this, the Young Justice League members became serious. They knew that there were no less than a hundred of the species they had seen. If they added those they hadn't seen according to the information, who knows how huge this force would be.
'Wait!' Robin's eyes were locked, as if he saw something special. 'Project Kr.? Damn it, this file is heavily encrypted, I can't crack it quickly.'
"Don't move!"
An unfamiliar voice came, and everyone turned to see a burly man wearing a golden helmet, a blue battle suit, and a strangely shaped small golden shield tied to his hand running towards them through the door, and beside him were four or five pale-skinned, slender-bodied, sharp-toothed gene-mods. Not only that, but a small gene-mod they had seen before was lying on the man's shoulder.
"Wait?" The man stopped immediately when he saw the faces of the crowd. "Kid Flash? Robin? Aqualad? And Impulse? What are you doing here?"
"I know you." Aqualad tensed up. "Guardian, a Justice League-level superhero."
"That's right, that's me." Guardian nodded in acknowledgment.
"Then why are you here?" Impulse lowered his body slightly, ready to fight at any time. It has to be said that the previous simulation training was still useful, at least they knew to be ready for battle at any time.
"I am the security director here." Guardian's tone was devoid of emotion, as if he was reading from a script. "You are trespassing illegally, hurry up and go to the Justice League to surrender."
"It's the J…" Impulse wanted to argue, but was stopped by Aqualad next to him.
'No need to explain, Impulse.' Robin put away the microcomputer. He had copied all the remaining data except for the heavily encrypted Project Kr..
'We received orders from the Justice League to explore the truth about the Cadmus Institute. As the director of Cadmus, Guardian has no reason not to receive the Justice League's notice, so the other party is obviously abnormal.'
Through telepathy, Robin told his speculation to everyone, and everyone lowered their bodies and entered a fighting state.
"It seems you are going to resist arrest." Guardian looked like a robot, and the twin feet on the head of the mod on his shoulder glowed with a bewitching red light.
"Attack!"
Guardian waved his hand, and the four or five mods let out piercing screams and pounced with their claws.
'Tactical retreat!' Robin shouted in the telepathic channel. 'Don't get entangled, the other side has more troops than us!'
Kid Flash immediately understood and drew an arrow from his back and shot it out immediately. Robin also took out a few black balls and threw them to the ground. The black balls exploded the moment they touched the ground, and the black smoke instantly submerged the bodies of several people.
The arrow shot by Kid Flash also exploded in the air, and also emitted a burst of smoke, covering Guardian and several mods.
"Cough cough! Go to the door! Cough cough!" Guardian coughed and shouted.
The mods immediately turned around and ran towards the door behind them, but they were still a step late. The door was tightly closed under Robin's operation.
'I locked it.' Robin finished speaking and led everyone to run in the direction they came from. He didn't have time to download the map of this institute just now, so they could only go back where they came from.
At this moment, the alarm in the institute also sounded. When they ran to the elevator door, as expected, the elevator had been locked.
Robin pulled out a dart, slid to the elevator, pried open the control panel with the dart, connected the data cable, and opened the elevator lock in a few strokes.
Without command, everyone ran into the elevator in an orderly manner, and closed the elevator door before the mods could catch up.
Looking at the figures of the mods disappearing in front of them, everyone present couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief. So many mods could pile them to death.
Aqualad took the time to glance at the floor display and found that the elevator was going down.
'We're going down?' Aqualad looked at Robin.
'Bro! The exit is up there!' Impulse pointed up.
'I know.' Robin tilted his head. 'But Project Kr. is down below, on floor -52. Obviously, our investigation mission has not been completed, and the most critical step is still waiting for us.'
