#490 - Robert vs Thunder Agents
Even with his back turned, hiding behind the overturned car, Ben could clearly see the eerie green light emanating behind him with his peripheral vision. Along with the green light came astonishing heat.
In just a few seconds, Ben could feel a burning pain from the car door he was leaning against. He immediately moved away from the door and crouched down, trying to see what was happening behind him through the car window.
Then he saw a pair of large green feet. Without hesitation, Ben grabbed Johnny, who was next to him. He didn't care about Johnny's injuries at this point, only thinking about escaping as quickly as possible.
Almost as soon as Ben left the shelter of the car, the overturned vehicle was flipped away by a massive force. A four-meter-tall, green-skinned humanoid creature was standing where the car had been, roaring at the sky.
"Move it!" Bridge picked up the tactical backpack he had thrown aside and began rappelling down from the rooftop using a rope. "The target is awake! Our mission is to silence him again!"
"Roger!" ×4
"Josiah, it's your time to shine!" Bridge landed steadily and straddled a uniquely designed motorcycle. "Engage him. John and Flash will provide fire support."
"Roger, boss!"
Sitting in the dimly lit room, Josiah stretched his hands and then excitedly placed them on the two handles in front of him.
"Josiah Bradley, deploying!"
...
Ben would bet that his current state would break the troop's record for weighted running. Even those specialized training brats couldn't beat him now, but he wasn't happy at all. Instead, he hated that he didn't have more legs.
Johnny, slung over Ben's shoulder, was even more terrified because, due to his position, he could clearly see the giant chasing them. The giant was in a very strange state.
The muscles on the giant's body were constantly wriggling, looking like a waterbed filled with water, almost changing every second, but overall, it still resembled a human shape.
Thanks to those clay-like legs, the giant's movement speed wasn't actually that fast, not comparable to the one they encountered before, but it was still faster than Ben, who was carrying a heavy load. He estimated that they would be caught up in a few seconds.
"Hurry, Ben!" Johnny shouted hoarsely.
Ben's eyes were wide, filled with bloodshot veins. He was already trying his best, and he didn't even have time to respond to Johnny. Otherwise, Ben would definitely have cursed.
Johnny was more lively now than before he was injured because the giant's hand was already reaching out, less than half a meter away from his head.
Seeing that the giant hand was about to grab his head, Johnny regretted that he wasn't a turtle, unable to retract his head.
Just as he thought he was about to die young, a piercing car horn sounded. Johnny's peripheral vision caught a glimpse of a truck with a dazzling silver front speeding from the other side of the intersection.
The piercing roar attracted not only Johnny's attention but also the giant who was chasing them. The giant turned his head and saw a metal behemoth crashing towards him at full speed.
"Jump, Ben!"
Seeing that he and Ben were about to be caught in the truck's impact range, Johnny had an idea and immediately shouted for Ben to jump.
Ben, who was running for his life, didn't have the strength to check what was happening beside him, but he still chose to trust Johnny's judgment, gritting his teeth and jumping forward, despite his burning lungs and aching legs.
Johnny's judgment was correct. If they continued running, they would definitely be caught in the impact. Ben's all-out leap saved their lives, but humans can't compare to the speed of cars, so Ben's leg still brushed against the truck's front when he jumped.
This caused Ben, who was lunging forward, to lose his balance and spin to the side. Johnny was the same. They rolled several times on the ground before stopping, lying on the ground unable to move.
"Boom!"
The Peterbilt 389's highly recognizable front directly collided with the giant. This road truck, famous for its power, pushed the giant a dozen meters away.
Anthony, sitting in the driver's seat, frowned, holding the steering wheel with one hand and shifting gears. The truck's front began to turn, drifting the giant several meters, while also swinging the cargo box behind him to the front.
The giant's legs were deeply embedded in the asphalt road, and his hands firmly grasped the front of the truck, even his fingers sinking in. With a roar, he finally stopped the truck, but before he could let out a triumphant roar, a new round of attacks came.
"Bang!"
The cargo box dragged behind the truck made a loud noise, and a large hole burst open on the side. A mech, even larger than the giant, emerged from the hole and crashed into the giant's side, sending him flying again.
While being knocked away, the mech continued to attack the giant with its free arms, and finally, it threw the giant into the air and bombarded him with missiles.
"Eat lead, monster!" Josiah pressed the firing button, and the two machine guns on the mech's shoulders began firing at the giant in the air. With AI assistance, Josiah didn't even need to aim.
The sky in this area was temporarily shrouded in smoke, but this did not hinder Josiah's vision at all. This mech, personally designed by Howard Stark, was equipped with all the special vision technologies currently available to humans, and nothing could escape its 'eyes'.
As the giant continued to fall, the machine gun barrels moved continuously from top to bottom, and the terrifying metal storm almost turned the giant in the air into a pile of minced meat. Green blood rained from the sky, giving this area a baptism.
Knowing that the system was prompting that the gun barrels were about to overheat, Josiah released his hand from the trigger. The deafening gunfire finally stopped, and the area returned to silence once again.
"Target 1 is still alive," Thompson's voice sounded in the channel. Josiah clicked his tongue in annoyance.
"Tsk, I can see that too."
Looking at the remaining bullets, Josiah shouted in the communication channel, "I need to resupply ammo. Cover me."
"Roger."
"I'm watching."
Thompson and John answered one after another. Josiah quickly maneuvered the mech back to the cargo box. Anthony had already driven the truck away, leaving only the cargo box with supplies.
"Bang!"
With a muffled sound, two black, narrow blocks fell from the back of the mech's waist. Those were the mech's ammo nests. With Josiah's skillful operation and the AI's assistance, the mech quickly retrieved two identical blocks from the cargo box and loaded them onto its lower back.
While Josiah was replacing ammunition, the giant had already healed his injuries, and the original pile of mud had begun to take human form.
