#517 - eternal
Faced with Yang Le's question, Eternity gave a cheerful answer.
"Of course, it's because of you, Mr. Yang Le."
Mr.? That's truly flattering.
Yang Le sensed the goodwill that Eternity was releasing, but this only deepened the confusion in his heart. Just because he saved Eternity? That shouldn't be the reason. In the chaotic history of the Marvel Universe over the years, many people have helped Eternity, but he hasn't seemed to care much about them.
At least he had never condescended to come to Earth and even shrunk himself to the size of a normal person.
"You do have a unique understanding of the multiverse, but there's one thing you might have forgotten."
As Eternity spoke, he waved his hand, and the surrounding scenery changed. The ruined New York City was now transformed into a vast and boundless universe.
"As you know, the multiverse undergoes updates and iterations. Before being destroyed by the Beyonders, the universe had already updated to the Seventh Cosmos."
Yang Le nodded. He knew this much. Although he wasn't very clear about the subsequent development of the universe, he at least knew some of the incarnations of the universe and some things about the Eighth Cosmos.
"Each update of the universe represents the birth of a new power. Let's skip the First Cosmos for now and start with the Second Cosmos."
"The Second Cosmos brought infinite possibilities, the Third Cosmos brought being and non-being, the Fourth Cosmos brought good and evil, the Fifth Cosmos brought magic, the Sixth Cosmos brought science. The accumulation of these forces formed the current Seventh... no, Eighth Cosmos."
"Now, let's talk about the First Cosmos. We call Him the First Firmament. As the original universe, the First Firmament is a single universe, just like His entity. The First Firmament is a guy who likes things to remain unchanged. He doesn't allow any variables outside of what He permits."
"But His creations included a group of guys who disagreed with His ideas, which led to a great war. The end result was the failure of the First Firmament. He was blown into countless pieces, taking His most loyal servants and hiding away, looking for an opportunity to make a comeback."
"But since the Second Cosmos, because of infinite possibilities, each iteration of the universe has brought new powers. The accumulation of these powers has meant that the First Firmament has never been able to find an opportunity to strike, until the Beyonders' experiment."
"The Beyonders forcibly ended the Seventh Cosmos. This abnormal iteration could very well have allowed the First Firmament to find an opening, but then you came along. You defeated the Beyonders and then helped me smoothly transition to the Eighth Cosmos in my full form, so the thing I was worried about didn't happen."
"And this is the reason I want to thank you." Eternity extended his right hand towards Yang Le, expressing his goodwill as much as possible.
So that's how it is, Yang Le suddenly understood. Although he had read a lot of comics, he wasn't exactly a hardcore fan. And because of special reasons, it was very difficult for fans in mainland China to see translated resources, which led to Yang Le's Marvel knowledge being scattered and incomplete.
So he only had a superficial understanding of some things. After Eternity's explanation, he finally understood the cause and effect.
"I am ashamed," Eternity said with a look of shame. "You clearly helped the entire multiverse solve a major disaster, but I can't come up with any useful thank-you gift."
In Eternity's view, Yang Le's current identity should be one of the incarnations of his X-Man form. Facing Yang Le, who possessed such great power, he really couldn't come up with any commendable thank-you gift.
This was also one of the reasons why Eternity was so respectful. In his view, Yang Le was a life form of the same level as himself, or even higher, a god of the same level, so he naturally had to be polite.
Yang Le was just about to wave his hand to indicate that he didn't care, but Eternity suddenly changed the subject and continued.
"Just when I was at a loss, you suddenly came up with the idea of creating a brand new universe. Logically speaking, this is not allowed, but I still classified it as part of myself, but I didn't interfere with it much."
"So that's how it is," Yang Le clapped his hands. "So the reason why the superhumans in this universe are so chaotic is because of this."
In other Marvel parallel universes, although the origins of those heroes are different, they are basically the same. There won't be any changes in the most critical places, but the 9527 universe is different. It's uniquely chaotic.
"This is the result of the natural growth of the universe," Eternity nodded. "Without the intervention of special things, those special people in the 9527 universe have not experienced their destined days. If I hadn't included it in my body, those special energies wouldn't have appeared in this universe."
In other words, superhumans wouldn't have been born. Yang Le finally understood what Sentry meant by 'take a good look at this universe'. It turned out that he was only responsible for giving birth but not raising, and Eternity had been helping him take care of it.
"This is also why I asked Robert to stop you," Eternity waved his hand, and the universe space dissipated. Yang Le and the others returned to the ravaged New York once again.
"The invasion of OBA this time also sounded an alarm for me. In a universe without those superheroes representing infinite possibilities, there is almost no way to defend against those dark forces."
"So I activated Robert when he was in a trance, allowing him to change the form of energy, allowing these heroes to experience their destined days."

Eternity waved his hand again, and a picture appeared in Yang Le's mind. In a place far away, the Fantastic Four, who were originally running away, were now enveloped by the energy that erupted.
Among this group of people, Ben's change was the greatest. His exposed skin was no longer like that of a normal person, but a layer of rough rock slabs. In the moment before time stopped, he didn't notice his change, but just tried to press everyone under him, as if he wanted to block the energy that erupted for his companions.
Although he didn't know what that thing was or whether what he was doing was useful, he still did it.
"The Fantastic Four are famous in every universe, but in this universe, they didn't experience cosmic radiation. Although they will soon experience that space trip, they won't gain anything from that trip."
"Not only them, but also many superheroes like Spider-Man, Iron Man, Hulk, they will not experience their destined days. This is also why OBA targeted this universe. It is too weak and doesn't even have the power to resist those dark forces."
