#562 - Thanos
The material used to make a space battleship, even a fool would know it couldn't be ordinary, let alone the flagship of Thanos.
But before the peerless blade, it was like a mantis trying to stop a chariot, like a spoon digging into tofu, passing through the transparent viewport without the slightest resistance.
Due to well-known reasons, the viewport, which had only revealed a narrow gap, instantly developed cracks across its surface due to the space environment, and then shattered like ice crystals.
Believing that it wouldn't be long before Ebony Maw was killed by the vacuum of space, he felt he might not even last that long, as the sharp peerless blade would pierce him through.
Just as he was about to lose his life on the spot, a huge hand with a bronze gauntlet grasped the incoming peerless blade, the sharp tip stopping right in front of Ebony Maw's right eye.
Looking at the gleaming blade tip before him, Ebony Maw, on the verge of developing acute aichmophobia, subconsciously swallowed, his distraught appearance lingering for a long time.
"Da."
A huge palm rested on Ebony Maw's twig-like, thin shoulder, the warm temperature and solid touch pulling his scattered soul back together.
Seeing Thanos' figure in his peripheral vision, Ebony Maw finally regained his senses, and the near-death feeling from before dissipated now that he saw his mainstay.
"Your Majesty, the warship was..." Ebony Maw was about to speak, but Thanos stopped him with his free hand.
"Shhh." Thanos repeatedly looked at the war blade in his hand, as if he didn't notice the imminent danger at all.
Ebony Maw wanted to continue speaking, but suddenly noticed the Infinity Gauntlet on Thanos' hand. The blue and red gems embedded in the gauntlet on his left hand lit up together, and the surrounding space rippled like a calm lake with a stone thrown into it.
When Ebony Maw regained his senses again, everything around him had returned to normal, as if nothing had happened.
"Hold your breath and focus, Ebony Maw," Thanos said calmly without even raising his head. "I can hear your heartbeat from here."
"I am deeply ashamed that you have seen me in such a state," Ebony Maw took several deep breaths before speaking. "Your Majesty, General Corvus Glaive is dead."
"I can see that, Ebony Maw." Thanos twirled the war blade and casually tossed it aside. Surprisingly, the war blade didn't fall to the ground due to gravity, but floated in the air.
"Give our first general some time. Let's go talk about other things first."
Sensing a hint of mockery, Ebony Maw thought Thanos was dwelling on the failure, or blaming them for their poor performance, having spent so much time without obtaining the Time Stone.
Unsure of Thanos' thoughts, Ebony Maw could only temporarily retract his proud tongue, obediently following behind Thanos like a mute, all the way back to the command center.
Thanos sat on his throne and ordered Ebony Maw below, "Summon the other generals back as well."
"As you command, Your Majesty." Ebony Maw bowed and turned to fly away, leaving only Thanos sitting on the throne, looking at the two empty sockets on the gauntlet with a complex expression, unsure of what he was thinking.
...
When Corvus Glaive regained his vision, seeing the familiar environment again, he knew he had returned to his own flagship.
After taking in the entire environment of the command center, the first thing he saw was Thanos sitting on the throne. That tall and sturdy figure was the master he followed, and also the object he feared.
"Your Majesty," Corvus Glaive hurriedly knelt down, his voice trembling. Even death hadn't made him feel fear, but Thanos before him made him tremble uncontrollably.
"Tell me," Thanos said, sitting imposingly on the throne. "Who did you lose to?"
"He claimed to be a Martian, Your Majesty," Corvus Glaive said with a tremor, causing Proxima Midnight, who was standing to the side, to show a hint of pity.
"A Martian?" Thanos' expression changed for the first time, revealing a look of doubt.
"Your Majesty," Ebony Maw floated out at the opportune moment. He slightly raised his hand, and the peerless blade turned around, aiming at its master, Corvus Glaive.
"General Corvus Glaive is lying. We all know there is no life on Mars."
Thanos narrowed his eyes. Indeed, in his long life, he had never heard of life surviving on Mars in the solar system, but he was an open-minded leader and decided to listen to Corvus Glaive's explanation first.
Ebony Maw also knew this, but as a courtier, he was accustomed to observing people's expressions and was best at judging his master's intentions. At this time, coming out to display Thanos' authority and play the black face was one of his duties.
Although the fate of courtiers after serving a dead master was usually not good, Ebony Maw didn't think Thanos would die young. No one in this universe could do that.
Proxima Midnight clenched the spear in her hand, making a creaking sound, but she never dared to step forward.
"It's true, Your Majesty!" Corvus Glaive didn't dare to resist, only daring to lower his head and explain. "He said he came from another universe. Everything I said is true. You can use the Mind Stone to examine my brain."

In order to survive, Corvus Glaive used all his skills. In fact, without him saying so, Thanos himself already had this idea.
Thanos casually made a gesture, and Corvus Glaive, who was originally kneeling on the ground, floated up, lifted by an invisible force to Thanos' presence.
The prepared Thanos appropriately extended his left hand with the Infinity Gauntlet, covering Corvus Glaive's head. As the yellow gem on the gauntlet lit up, all of Corvus Glaive's thoughts and memories were displayed before Thanos.
When Corvus Glaive regained his senses again, he was already back under the throne, and Thanos was still sitting on the throne, only the posture had changed. But based on this alone, Corvus Glaive knew.
He survived.
"General Corvus Glaive was not lying," Thanos said, using his gauntlet-clad hand to tap his head. A yellow light flashed, and a yellow thread was pulled out by his left hand.
Thanos casually flicked it, and the thread turned into three streams of light, flying towards the remaining generals. Before the three could react, the streams of light crashed into their brains.
Ebony Maw covered his head. Previously unseen memories suddenly appeared in his mind, memories of a stranger he had never seen before.
Green skin, crimson eyes, unfamiliar symbols, and the overwhelming strength that crushed Corvus Glaive, inspiring awe. It seemed this was the "Martian" that Corvus Glaive had spoken of.
Regaining his senses, Ebony Maw looked at the other two. It seemed they should be like him, having been implanted with Corvus Glaive's memories by Thanos.
