#658 - Ouch! My hand!
Thor, the God of Thunder, the most powerful warrior in Asgard, and one of the strongest superheroes in Marvel Comics, is positioned similarly to Superman Clark Kent in DC Comics.
This isn't just Yang Le making things up. The initial Thor was much more vaguely defined than he is now. He was portrayed as a kind, brave, enthusiastic, and adventurous young man.
Blake gained the power of Thor through some accident. By striking his cane, which was disguised as Mjolnir, he could transform into Thor and embark on a heroic career fighting evil forces with this immense power.
However, after a few years, Thor's backstory was finally fleshed out in his own comic series. It turned out that Odin, the ruler of Asgard, had sealed Thor's memories and created a false identity as a human named Blake to test his son.
Initially, Thor was more like a magic-wielding Superman in the Marvel Universe, similar to the early Captain Marvel or the current Shazam. It wasn't until later that he developed his unique characteristics that have persisted to this day.
Another point is that the early Thor was even more dependent on Mjolnir than he is now. Back then, he genuinely had no power without his hammer, making him a true 'God of the Hammer'.
But, clearly, the Thor of Universe 9527 is not this type of character. At the very least, a Thor who has spent an entire night learning about Earth's knowledge wouldn't land smack-dab in the middle of the road.
Yang Le deduced that this Thor hadn't been to Earth for at least a century. The human world has changed so much compared to a hundred years ago, which is why he didn't realize that where he landed was inappropriate.
All of this seemed to have just happened. Thor scratched his head and pulled himself out of the front of the car, then strode over to the driver's side door. The man inside seemed to be unconscious, his face buried in the airbag, not moving.
"Crack!"
Thor grabbed the car door and, amidst the screams of onlookers, tore the driver's side door off. Then, he bent down carefully and pulled the man, whose condition was unknown, out of the car.
After doing all this, Thor didn't make any further movements. He just carefully scanned the man in his arms until a cacophony of police sirens rang out, and he shifted his gaze.
"Put down the man in your arms!"
Several police officers quickly pushed back the crowd and approached Thor, warning him as they advanced.
"Warning! Put down the man in your arms! Superhuman!"
"I will," Thor said, unafraid of the police officers' drawn guns. The dark muzzles seemed like nothing to him. "But I think this unfortunate child needs a doctor more. This is my fault, and I can take responsibility for getting him to the nearest doctor."
"This is my last warning, put down that man!" The police officer released the safety. "We'll take care of the rest! You just need to stand aside!"
"Alright," Thor used one hand to remove his cape and spread it on the ground before laying the man down on it.
This was unexpected for Yang Le. The Thor before him seemed much more composed than he had imagined. Although Thor wasn't one to bully the weak, the Asgardian warrior's temper was well known.
Even if he wouldn't make things difficult for these ordinary police officers, he certainly wouldn't listen to their orders. Yang Le had thought Thor would grab a police officer and force them to take him to the hospital.
Sure enough, in different universes, seemingly identical people can have vast differences. The Thor of Universe 9527, from what he could see, did indeed possess some of the qualities of an Asgardian crown prince, not a born berserker who would explode at the slightest provocation.
After Thor laid the man down, he stood up straight. The police officers, who had been on guard, then approached. The officer in the lead had obvious resentment; clearly, he had some ideas.
The officer at the front turned off the safety. He couldn't stand these lawless superhumans. He planned to teach this big, dumb guy a little lesson.
"Back off!"
Normally, the officer should have shouted for Thor to retreat before getting close, but, with ill intentions, he waited until he was within arm's reach of Thor before shouting, all to deliver a harsh blow.
"Bang!"
The officer used his right hand, holding the gun, to strike Thor hard. The guy even used a little trickery, deliberately using the butt of the gun to hit Thor. If this blow landed solidly, it wouldn't leave a mark, but it would definitely hurt like hell.
This officer's plan was perfect. Merely pushing Thor away wouldn't be considered violent law enforcement. He was just a little anxious because he wanted to protect the hostage. Plus, with his colleagues covering for him, he wouldn't be punished no matter what.
He might even receive an award for facing a superhuman head-on, even if it was just verbal praise. That would be enough.
Unfortunately, his ideals were grand, but reality was harsh. He wasn't dealing with an ordinary superhuman, but a true god.
"Crack!"
"Owww! My hand!"
The colleagues of the officer didn't have time to understand what had happened. They only saw their companion fall to the ground, wailing and clutching his hand. When the fallen officer rolled on the ground, they saw his hand twisted in an unnatural direction.
"Ohohoho~" Yang Le couldn't help but cover his mouth and gasp. "That must hurt like hell."
The other onlookers around also agreed with Yang Le's assessment. Some even covered their eyes, afraid to look, and quite a few timidly left.
"Serves you right!" Thor frowned at the police officer rolling on the ground. Of course, he had seen through the guy's intentions, so he deliberately didn't move and stood there, waiting for him to attack.
You should know that even the giants, known for their strength, couldn't gain any advantage against him. These weak Midgardians were even less likely to hurt him in the slightest.
If this were in other places in the Nine Realms, Thor would have already swung his fist at this kind of guy, but the people of Midgard were too weak. Even if he just breathed on them, Thor was afraid of blowing them away.
Standing still and taking the hit was already the most cruel punishment he could inflict. Entrusting his mistakes to these people was indeed not a good choice. He should take the initiative to fix it himself.
Ignoring the remaining police officers' shouts of 'You dared to attack a police officer,' Thor stretched out a hand, creating afterimages in the air. After the deafening gunshots subsided, he released his fist, which was as big as a sand pot.
Like in old movies, the bullets, deformed by being crushed, fell clattering at Thor's feet. If he weren't afraid that these solid bullets would ricochet off him and hurt others, Thor wouldn't have bothered to deal with them.
"Now, are there any brave souls who can take me to the nearest doctor?"
