#755 - The beginning of prophecy
Loki's fingertips lit up with tiny sparkles, sketching a series of characters on the door, bit by bit. As Loki wrote, the door began to change.
She had pried this out of Eitri's mouth with that jar of wine. She had enchanted the wine, so that once drunk, it would cloud the mind. In that state, Eitri would honestly say anything Loki wanted to know.
Thankfully, Eitri didn't suspect her, or Loki wouldn't have gotten the vault's password so easily.
But Loki wasn't happy. From beginning to end, this operation had relied on exploiting the trust others had in her. This didn't feel like her usual pranks; it felt like betrayal.
Loki felt as if a knife had been twisted in her heart. She knew this was wrong, but to understand her origins, she had to do it. She didn't want to live a lie forever.
Loki retracted her right hand. The password had been entered, and the vault door was slowly opening. Thankfully, the dwarves' craftsmanship was so superb that even such a massive door opened without a sound.
Finally, the door she had wanted to open for a thousand years was open. But now, she felt no joy, only endless trepidation.
Walking slowly into the vault, Loki immediately saw her target—the Casket of Ancient Winters—thanks to the orderly arrangement of the trophies.
It was a completely red casket with skull-shaped keyholes. Although it looked exquisite, no one would imagine it was an artifact capable of freezing an entire planet.
Looking at the Casket of Ancient Winters quietly displayed on the stand, Loki felt an inexplicable urge to run away, but ultimately, she steeled herself and reached out.
Hesitantly, Loki's fingers finally touched the Casket of Ancient Winters.
Loki's eyes widened. The moment her fingertips touched the skull, they began to change, turning ice blue and spreading rapidly throughout her body.
Startled, Loki staggered backward, accidentally stepping on the cloak draped over her shoulders. She instantly lost her balance and fell to the ground. Normally, she could use magic to regain her balance, but now, distraught, Loki let herself fall.
Sitting on the ground, Loki shakily raised her hand and drew a circle in the air. A ripple appeared, and a mirror-like surface reflected her face.
She looked very different from before. Not only had her skin turned ice blue, but she also had special markings on her cheeks, miniature fangs at the corners of her mouth, and even her emerald eyes, once praised by Thor, had turned blue.
"What he said… it's all true…" Loki supported herself with her hand, her head tilting to the side, letting her black hair cover her face.
Loki's thoughts were chaotic. She didn't know how to face Asgard. Her beloved father, Odin, had now become an enemy, her dear mother was not her real mother, and even her beloved… brother…
Well, that might have improved, but Loki immediately thought that Frost Giants and Asgardians had always been mortal enemies. Could her brother really accept her like this?
Loki felt as if she had been living a lie all along. Why did Odin bring her back to Asgard? Was it to control the Frost Giants?
No! Maybe she shouldn't think so badly of everything. She didn't think the love Odin and Frigga had shown her was fake. There must be a deeper reason. Instead of speculating here, she should ask them both.
Having made up her mind, Loki struggled to her feet. Although she had a plan, she was still unsure. Faced with the truth told by Laufey, she was afraid to face what would happen next.
As Loki was lost in thought, a wisp of purple smoke, perhaps carried by the draft from the opening door, slowly drifted towards Loki unnoticed.
Loki suddenly sensed something. She turned her head towards the depths of the vault, feeling as if something was calling to her.
Lost in thought, Loki walked towards the depths of the vault as if in a trance.
"Tap, tap, tap, tap."
When Loki came back to her senses, she was standing in front of a new display stand. On the stand was a beautiful, artistic hammer, a design she had never seen before, nor did it resemble anything from the dwarves.
'Pick me up… I will give you answers… I will give you… courage…'
The faint whispers made Loki clutch her head in pain. In her memory, Thor's hammer had been taken from the vault. Could this hammer be like Thor's?
After obtaining the hammer, Thor became the omnipotent God of Thunder. Would picking up this hammer give her the courage to question Odin face to face?
Thinking this, Loki reached out to grasp the hammer's handle as if possessed.
The moment Loki's hand grasped the hammer's handle, a cloud of purple mist burst out, snaking up her right arm and engulfing her entire body.
In an instant, a myriad of unfamiliar knowledge flooded Loki's mind. She experienced Asgard's history from beginning to end as if she were there, even the unrecorded history appeared in her mind.
In a daze, a figure appeared before her, a withered old man with long, silver hair and exaggerated armor. Because of the newly acquired knowledge, she recognized the old man.
"The Serpent…" Loki murmured. "My… father…"
"Come find me, Skadi, my daughter," the Serpent barely raised his head, revealing his aged face. "It is time."

"Boom!"
Loki snapped back to reality, the war hammer already in her hand. Her leather armor had disappeared, replaced by a set of light armor with Asgardian flair, with a fluorescent green symbol emblazoned on the chest plate.
The last trace of confusion in her eyes dissipated, replaced by endless light. She no longer resembled her former self.
"Whoosh!"
Loki took a step and transformed into a streak of green light, instantly bursting out of Odin's vault. The door immediately closed as she rushed out, and apart from the wind sweeping through the corridor, it was as if nothing had happened.
…
"Hmm?"
Odin, leaning on his desk, sensed something. He raised his head and looked towards the door. For some reason, he suddenly felt a sense of panic, as if something had happened without his knowledge.
