#40 - Chapter 3: Shocking News (Part 2)

After an unknown period, Prince Rhaegar was awakened by the crisp sound of horse hooves. Lyanna, draped in a bearskin cloak, appeared before him on a snow-white horse, as if descending from the heavens. Her hair and eyelashes were covered with glistening snowflakes, making her look like a beautiful and enchanting ice sprite.

Prince Rhaegar couldn't help but walk towards her. Standing in the snowstorm, they gazed at each other in silence, their eyes filled with deep longing and love. Finally, Prince Rhaegar smiled faintly and whispered, "You've finally come!" as if he had been waiting for this moment for a very long time. With that, he lightly leaped onto Lyanna's horse, embracing her tightly.

Together, they rode off into the swirling snow, leaving behind a romantic and mysterious love story.

Just then, several riders suddenly charged out. They were guards of House Stark. Although Lyanna claimed to have run away from home, her guards had been secretly following, silently protecting her safety.

However, these guards were blocked by the Kingsguard. Ser Jonothor Darry said helplessly, "Go back! From now on, the safety of Lady Lyanna will be the responsibility of the Kingsguard."

While they were arguing, Prince Rhaegar and Lyanna had already disappeared into the snowstorm. The helpless Stark guards couldn't afford to turn against the Kingsguard. After all, these men were the most elite knights in the Seven Kingdoms and the royal family's personal guards. Even the Lord of the North had to show them some respect.

"You wait here. I'll return to Riverrun and report the situation to Lord Brandon," the Stark guard captain said helplessly. With that, he turned and left with the others.

Watching their departing figures, Ser Arthur Dayne frowned, saying to his companions with some concern, "This is a big problem. What should we do?"

Ser Jonothor Darry shrugged helplessly, "You ask me, who should I ask? I really don't know what His Highness the Prince is thinking. Once today's events get out, it will become the kingdom's biggest scandal."

Oswell Whent then offered a suggestion, "Or we could..." As he spoke, he made a throat-slitting gesture, indicating that they should silence them.

Ser Arthur Dayne shook his head, firmly refusing, "No, if we do that, there will be no turning back. Let Rhaegar and His Majesty the King worry about it! As for the rest, it's not the job of the Kingsguard." Everyone nodded in agreement. They knew the seriousness of the matter, so they decided not to take any action for the time being, awaiting further instructions.

A few days later, Brandon, who was still a guest at Riverrun, received a report from the family guards protecting Lyanna. The guards didn't know exactly what had happened. They could only describe what they had seen in detail. The general idea was: "We don't know what happened, but Lady Lyanna was abducted by Prince Rhaegar. We wanted to follow, but we were stopped by the Kingsguard. As for where Lady Lyanna is now, we don't know."

Brandon Stark exploded at that moment. This was outrageous! His own sister was kidnapped by a married man, even if he was a prince! Moreover, Lyanna was a crucial link in the alliance of the "Wolf, Hawk, Stag, and Fish" families. Brandon wanted to lead troops to chase Rhaegar and rescue his sister.

But Lord Tully stopped him, saying, "Brandon, you need to calm down! You are about to marry Catelyn, so you must not act rashly. The most urgent thing is to immediately inquire at King's Landing about what happened. At the same time, I will write to your father to explain the matter. Everything must be carefully considered." Brandon, of course, had to listen to his future father-in-law, so he had to temporarily suppress the anger in his heart.

That night, several ravens flew out of Riverrun, carrying with them the news of Prince Rhaegar's abduction of Lyanna Stark. Of course, this was the official version. In private, everyone knew that it was not an abduction at all, but rather a case of two people eloping!

This news brought a shocking revelation to the people struggling in the cold winter. Who knows why this news spread so quickly? Within a few short days, it had spread throughout the entire continent of Westeros. On the tenth day after the incident, even in the distant Iron Islands and Dorne, people were discussing it in taverns.

This was no longer a simple feud between noble families, but a scandal involving the most powerful nobles and the royal family of Westeros. The heir to the Iron Throne had run off with the daughter of the Lord of the North, and this girl was also the betrothed of the Lord of Storm's End. The Stark family was now allied with House Tully of the Riverlands, and Lord Robert's foster father was Lord Arryn of the Vale. More importantly, Prince Rhaegar was already married, and his wife was the Princess of House Martell of Dorne. Tsk tsk tsk~ Except for Lord Tywin of the Westerlands and Lord Tyrell of the Reach, almost all of the top families in the Seven Kingdoms were involved. It was definitely more explosive than the king's imprisonment in Duskendale a few years ago.

Currently, everyone was discussing this matter, even Liu Yuan in the Citadel had heard about it. He knew very well that this must be the spark that would ignite the rebellion of the four great houses in the future. After studying history for this period of time, he already understood the current situation in Westeros very well. The Targaryen family's rule seemed stable, but it depended entirely on the cooperation of the great lords of the Seven Kingdoms. Among the great lords, except for the Tyrell family of the Reach, the others were all ancient families with long traditions. They had ruled their respective regions for thousands of years and had a broad popular base.

The Targaryen family had initially relied on dragons to forcibly conquer them. But now, the dragons had been extinct for more than 100 years, which meant that the foundation of their rule was gone. Once the royal family's prestige was completely lost, a change of dynasty was inevitable.

War was imminent, but he should be very safe in the Citadel. Even if House Celtigar was exterminated, it shouldn't involve him. He remembered that in the story, only Viserys and Daenerys Targaryen were left wandering in Essos, but Maester Aemon was doing well at the Wall, living to be over 100 years old.

Even so, Liu Yuan still wrote a letter to Lord Adrian Celtigar, explaining the stakes involved. Even if he supported the royal family, he had to leave a way out for himself. At least he had to send Baelor and Lyanna to a safe place. He didn't dare to use ravens to send this letter. It was sent through the Celtigar family's internal communication channels, so he believed that there was still enough time.

Leaving the Celtigar merchant's shop, Liu Yuan came to another street. Here was a two-story stone building. An old woman opened the door for him. He asked, "Aunt Naeli, how has she been these days?"

The old woman said, "According to your instructions, I have been very careful with her diet, and she has been looking much better recently."

Liu Yuan nodded and went upstairs. Pushing open the door, he saw a beautiful figure sitting by the fireplace. A blanket was draped over her, and she was holding a book in her hand. Seeing Liu Yuan come in, the woman smiled and said to him, "Hehe, Little Garron, you've come." The woman's eyes were a deep purple. This person was Ashara Dayne.
