The journey of film and television world is endless

#9 - Chapter 9: First time traveling far away

At that moment, a knock on the door sounded, and Liu Yuan went to open it.

Standing outside was actually the steward, Balin, who entered and looked around, asking, "Jialong, why are you alone? Where's old Parker?"

Liu Yuan shrugged and said, "Where else would he be? In the tavern, of course. He finished the order for Ser Bendel today and received a large sum of money. He left this afternoon and probably won't be back tonight."

Balin sized Liu Yuan up and down. He seemed to be in good spirits and looked a bit sturdier. He said, "Jialong, you seem to be doing well. It seems you're suited for the blacksmith profession. Buma would be very pleased if she saw this."

Liu Yuan asked, "Steward, is there anything the Lord has ordered, coming to the smithy so late?"

Balin said, "The Earl has issued an order to lead a team to Harrenhal to participate in a tournament. We're leaving in two days, and several craftsmen and apprentices from the castle will accompany us. Tell old Parker when he returns that a carriage is specifically assigned to you. Remember to bring all the necessary things. If he delays the Earl, he knows the consequences."

Liu Yuan said, "Yes, Steward, I understand. I will definitely convey this to old Parker when he returns. Is there anything else?"

Balin shook his head and turned to leave. Liu Yuan closed the door and began to ponder Balin's words. 'Harrenhal'... the name sounded familiar, as if he had heard it somewhere, but he couldn't quite recall it. (When Liu Yuan was watching Game of Thrones on Blue Star, he was busy taking care of his child. He watched it intermittently and not completely, and some scenes were fast-forwarded. After so many years, he only had vague memories. Otherwise, when he saw the golden dragon and silver stag, he would have remembered which world he was in.) Since he was going on a long journey, he naturally had to make some preparations. He folded the hand crossbow and placed it in a special storage box. Then, he returned to the forging room to continue working on a weapon that resembled a 'short sword'. In reality, it was a slightly smaller spear. Its shape was similar to a six-sided Han sword, with a flat hexagonal shape and three blood grooves on each side. After Liu Yuan's careful polishing, the tip and blade were extremely sharp. It could not only pierce but also be used for close combat slashing. It could be a sword with a short handle, or a spear with wooden poles of different lengths. When necessary, it could also be thrown as a javelin, with terrifying lethality.

He believed that as long as the opportunity was right, he would have a chance to kill even a fully armed knight like Bendel. This was also his guarantee of survival in this world; only by surviving could anything be possible.

It wasn't until the next morning that old Parker staggered back to the smithy. Liu Yuan noticed the red marks on his face and neck and knew what the old guy had been up to yesterday. He poured him a pot of water and said, "Balin, the steward, came last night. The Earl issued an order that he is leading a team to Harrenhal for some kind of tournament. We're going with them, and a carriage has been assigned to us. Get ready, we leave tomorrow. Oh, and he said that if you make the Earl unhappy, you know the consequences."

Old Parker paused while drinking, as if recalling something unpleasant. Then, he picked up the water jug and poured it over his head, shaking his wet hair and slightly cheering himself up. "Seven hells, why are you only telling me now? Jialong, hurry! Don't just sit there. We're leaving tomorrow. We need to pack quickly. Bring all the necessary tools, and that small iron furnace. Oh~ damn it! My best materials too, but can one carriage fit it all?"

Ignoring old Parker's franticness, Liu Yuan simply did his part. He went to sleep when the time came, not caring if the outside world was on fire. Despite the old man's constant complaints, they still prepared everything they needed. Early the next morning, servants from the castle came to load the carriage. They were assigned a relatively large four-wheeled carriage, and Liu Yuan also noticed that the carriage had an auxiliary steering rudder.

After lunch, Earl Ayadrian, whom everyone was waiting for, appeared in full view. Beside him was his wife, Mia, said to be a noble lady from the Reach. She was holding a three- or four-year-old girl, Lyanna Setigar, followed by the Earl's eldest son, Becort Setigar. Before getting into the carriage, the Earl cast a scrutinizing glance at him.

Their group consisted of thirty carriages, with over forty servants and craftsmen. However, there were only twenty or so guards, with only six cavalry among them. Many people, including the guards, were walking. Liu Yuan, as a relatively important blacksmith apprentice and being young, naturally rode in the carriage. Although he was uncomfortable being surrounded by ironware, it was better than walking.

The castle was very close to the port, less than two kilometers away. This was Liu Yuan's first time at the port. The port was quite well-constructed, with wide roads on the docks paved with stone, capable of docking dozens of large ships simultaneously. Fishermen could be seen everywhere selling freshly caught seafood. Liu Yuan saw a sea fish that looked like a Spanish mackerel, over two meters long, but it only sold for nine copper coins. However, the locals preferred fresh oysters. People from the caravan casually bought some oysters from the roadside and slurped them down like snacks. They were also very cheap, a pile for one copper coin.

Because the docks were built high, their carriages could drive directly onto the ships. It was a wide, flat-bottomed merchant ship. Although it was slow, it was very stable and could enter inland waterways. The interior of the flat-bottomed ship was large, mainly used as a transport ship. As for the lord, of course, he would ride on the beautiful three-masted sailing ship.

At this time, there were already many people waiting at the pier. They were knights of the Setigar family. These people were different from the newly promoted Bendel. They were all landed knights, meaning they had fiefs. Therefore, they would bring one or two squires. In fact, the knights' squires were also part of the feudal lord's military strength. The Setigar family had always been low-key and adhered to a policy of 'strengthening the trunk and weakening the branches'. They only had two vassals; the others were knights who had been promoted, and their experiences were similar to Ser Bendel's.

Crab Island was very close to the mainland, located on the eastern coast of Claw Peninsula. The port was also well-constructed. This was the fief of Baron Rossini. The Rossini family was one of the few vassals of the Setigar family. The Baron personally led people to join the group. Claw Peninsula was not rich; the center of the peninsula was a dense jungle, occupying nearly seventy percent of the land. Moreover, there was not much land suitable for cultivation, so there were hardly any powerful families on the peninsula.

The caravan headed to the ruins of Whispers, which was once the home castle of the Crabb family. It was an old, dilapidated, abandoned castle, perched atop a cliff, overgrown with weeds. The castle was built of ancient stone, and from the mottled marks on it, it seemed to have been plastered with grout or some kind of coloring. Thick moss grew between the cracks in the rocks, and the walls at the edge of the cliff had collapsed, with trees sprouting from beneath the foundation. Fifty feet below the rubble, waves crashed into a dilapidated old lighthouse.
