The onlookers returned, and Kerr cast the [Antidote Spell] on Hermione once more, before leaving with Ginny.

That night, after Hermione fell asleep, Harry was the only one awake in the hospital wing.

A long, long time passed before Harry suddenly awoke to pitch darkness.

"Get away!" he said loudly, then recognized the figure, "Dobby!"

The house-elf stared at Harry with his tennis-ball-sized eyes, a tear rolling down his long, pointed nose.

"Dobby has done wrong again!" Dobby's eyes shimmered with tears.

"What are you doing here?!" Harry asked, lowering his voice, worried about waking Hermione, whose bed was far away.

Harry spoke quietly with Dobby, but after only a few words, he became annoyed.

Dobby confessed that he had blocked the passage to the train station, preventing Harry from reaching Platform 9 ¾, forcing him to drive to Hogwarts and nearly getting expelled—the car was now lying at the bottom of the Black Lake.

Moreover, Dobby admitted to tampering with a Bludger during the Quidditch match, causing Harry's injury.

Harry was furious and couldn't help but raise his voice, "I suppose you wouldn't tell me why you wanted me sent home in pieces, would you?"

"Harry Potter can know, of course!" Dobby moaned, more tears spilling onto his tattered pillowcase.

Dobby wiped his face on the pillowcase again.

"[Silencio]!" Hermione cast the spell at Dobby, who stopped instantly, seeming much calmer, but in the blink of an eye, Dobby seemed to use a counter-curse and was able to move again.

Just then, muffled but rapid footsteps echoed from the hallway outside.

"Dobby must go!" Dobby disappeared with a pop.

Harry and Hermione exchanged glances.

Dumbledore backed into the hospital wing.

He was wearing a long woolen dressing gown and a nightcap.

His hands were holding one end of something sculptural.

A second later, Professor McGonagall appeared, holding the foot of the object.

Together, they placed it on the bed.

"Fetch Madam Pomfrey," Dumbledore said quietly, and Professor McGonagall hurried past Harry's bedside and out of the room.

Harry even exchanged a look with Professor McGonagall, who nodded subtly before leaving the room.

Hermione stood up from the bed and asked Dumbledore, "Has there been another Basilisk attack?"

"Indeed…" Dumbledore had to reply, "Poor Colin!"

Harry and Hermione saw what Dumbledore was hiding behind him—a stiff body—it was Colin, the first-year student!

Colin was eventually placed with Seamus—they were placed in separate rooms.

Dumbledore and Professor McGonagall spoke quietly outside the room for a long time, and neither Harry nor Hermione could hear the details of their conversation, but neither of them slept that night.

After Hermione questioned Harry about Dobby, she quietly pondered one thing—how did Dobby know about the Chamber of Secrets?
