The Little Superman of Hogwarts - Chapter 035 [Hermione's First Kill]
Percy stood at the end of the table and said, "Lions, follow me! Follow me!"
Klee walked out with the crowd. Hermione was a little flustered, following Klee, and their hands unconsciously clasped together.
When they walked out of the hall, Klee said to Hermione, "Do you want to go and see a troll?"
Hermione glanced at Klee and said softly, "Are you kidding me?"
"Trolls are divided into three types: mountain trolls, forest trolls, and river trolls. Trolls are usually twelve feet tall (author's note: about 3.5 meters) and can weigh more than a ton!
Its legs are very thick, with flat, rough, calloused feet. The troll's arms are long, and its body emits a disgusting stench. Moreover, the troll's emotions are very unstable, it is easily angered, and often acts for no reason."
Hermione said as she walked, "Are you sure you can fight such a behemoth? If you are going, you'd better write your will in advance, so I can take it to your parents! But because trolls eat people, your parents will probably only be able to bury an empty coffin in your grave!"
"Of course I'm sure!" Klee raised his eyebrows and said in a contemptuous tone, "Now is the best time to earn points for Gryffindor!"
Hermione was immediately surprised: "Are you really not kidding?"
"I never joke with people. Do you remember that 'Rolling Forward' spell I used in Charms class? Even in the worst case, as long as I have my wand, I can at least guarantee the safety of both of us!" Klee said.
Hermione seemed to struggle for a long time, then said softly, "Then I'll trust you this once! If we die, I really hope my parents won't be sad."
"Hahaha!" Klee laughed: "Cute little girl!"
After the two decided on a plan, taking advantage of the chaotic crowd heading to the dormitories, Klee pulled Hermione, and the two of them slipped into a secluded corridor.
"I remember there's a small staircase here that leads directly to the basement, if you really want to go and see it," Hermione said.
"No, on the contrary, we're not going to the basement, we're going to the second floor bathroom!" Klee headed upstairs.
"Why? Aren't you going to fight the troll? Are you going to take a bath first?" Hermione looked confused.
"The troll is on the second floor! It didn't enter Hogwarts from the outside at all. On the contrary, it came down from the third floor!" Klee explained, "Do you remember when Dumbledore warned us at the beginning of the school year that no student should go to the corridor at the end of the third floor? That's where the troll is being held!"
"Merlin's beard! So you've already encountered the troll!" Hermione was very clever and immediately guessed the key.
"Not only that, I even almost beat it to death!" Klee shrugged.
"Sounds very exciting!" Hermione immediately relaxed from her nervous mood and instantly became excited.
"However, how do you know the troll is on the second floor now? Did you let the troll out?" Hermione turned her little head and suddenly had a question.
"My hearing is very good, I can hear sounds hundreds of meters away! Although usually, because of Hogwarts' shielding effect, I can hardly hear sounds beyond ten meters, but the troll's footsteps are so heavy that the castle's magic cannot produce an effective shield. You may not be able to hear it, but to me, it's like thunder!" Klee explained. Hogwarts has magical shielding everywhere—for example, each teacher's office has special magic, and outsiders can't enter without using extreme violence.
With such magical shielding, the sound is also shielded, so Klee's super hearing is almost useless in Hogwarts. He can usually only hear the movement in the adjacent room, and there is almost no effect in more distant places.
Just as Klee said, the giant's footsteps were now coming along the corridor, mixed with some infrasound—a sound that only some animals can hear—this part of the infrasound was so obvious that Klee didn't even need to open his eyes to judge the troll's position.
"It's ahead!" Klee gestured for Hermione to be quiet. At this moment, Hermione also heard the troll's footsteps moving.
The two, one tall and one short, poked their heads out from the corner—the troll, like a small mountain, was walking from the other end towards the bathroom with a club in its hand. Although it was still far away, its terrifying posture inspired fear, especially that huge club—at least two meters long and fifty centimeters in diameter at its widest point.
"I think we'd better leave immediately!" Hermione was frightened. The troll looked much more terrifying than the descriptions in the books.
"Do you have your wand with you?" Klee asked.
"Of course I have it. Wizards cannot be separated from their wands—but I don't think that's the point here! We definitely can't defeat it! Run!" Hermione retracted her head, looking flustered and nervous.
"Do you remember our Gryffindor motto?" Klee looked at Hermione, signaling her to relax, "Let's say it together—we are curious, we are reckless, we are..."
Hermione picked up Klee's words at this point: "The courageous Gryffindor!"
"YES!" Klee raised his eyebrows and said: "Actually, dealing with trolls is very simple, you only need a few extremely simple spells!
Although trolls are huge, they are slow. Their real lethality only comes from the club in their hands, so the key is that we have to take away its weapon!"
"In addition, more than 90% of the troll's attacks rely on its eyes, so as long as we attack its eyes, we will almost stand in an invincible position."
"Trolls don't wear shoes, so they hate walking in thorny places. Similarly, they can't walk on overly smooth ice, which will make their bodies lose balance!"
Klee said calmly to Hermione, "These are the troll's weaknesses. Do you think we can arrange some tactics to attack?"
Hermione's big eyes were constantly turning, looking at the wall. Her brain was quickly brewing something. After about thirty or forty seconds, she raised her head and said: "First of all, we can take off one of our clothes, use the 'Sticking Charm' to stick it on the troll's eyes, blocking its sight. Before it can react, use the 'Disarming Charm' to disarm its weapon, and finally use 'Obstruction Charm' to stop it!"
"But I don't know the Disarming Charm!" Hermione said anxiously.
Klee corrected Hermione's rigid thinking and said: "Why must it be the Disarming Charm? Our purpose is to make it lose control of its weapon! Not to 'Expelliarmus'!"
"The Disarming Charm is usually only used in battles between wizards—its main target is the person holding the weapon, because the wand is too thin and small to be aimed directly effectively—but we are dealing with a troll now—we can directly aim at its weapon, think about it, what other spells can be used?"
"'Rolling Forward', 'Levitation Charm', 'Descendo'!" Hermione reacted very quickly, and instantly thought of three suitable spells after Klee gave a reminder.
Rolling Forward can turn the club into a whirlwind, maybe it can use the troll's club to directly knock down the troll itself;
The Levitation Charm can make the club fly into the sky, like a balloon, and the troll will lose its weapon because of its huge weight and inability to jump;
Descendo can knock the troll's weapon to the ground, maybe it can hit its own feet and make it lose its combat power.
"Great!" Klee praised, and took off his cloak and handed it to Hermione, saying: "Then let's start with the Sticking Charm!"
"We first need to get closer, or wait for it to come over. It's too far away now." Hermione held the cloak rolled up in her hand and poked her head out again.

Just as Klee and Hermione were preparing to fight the troll, in the corridor on the fourth floor, three sneaky figures were opening the door of the corridor.
"Harry, I think we're going to be expelled!" The second person's deep voice came out, and this voice was none other than Ron's.
"We must stop Snape's actions! I'm sure the troll in the basement was Snape's doing! He must be here now trying to steal the Philosopher's Stone! He wants to resurrect He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named!" Harry, who was walking in the front, replied softly.
"This is exciting! Isn't it?" The third figure was actually Neville, who seemed very excited: "I haven't had such an exciting experience in many years."
"Merlin's beard! You're only eleven years old! Why are you using the words 'many years'?!" Ron complained.
"Hush! I heard something!" Harry stopped the two from arguing.
Harry gently pulled open the door ring, and a sky-high roar appeared behind the door—Harry only had time to take a look, and Snape's familiar hair appeared in Harry's eyes—opposite Snape was a three-headed dog opening its mouth wide and roaring non-stop.
"Snape is fighting the Cerberus! I saw him!" Harry closed the door and said softly, but he was very excited.
At that moment, the Cerberus suddenly wailed and lost its voice.
Harry quickly opened the door again, and the Cerberus's three heads drooped on the ground, Snape had disappeared.
"We failed!" Harry said dejectedly: "Snape defeated the Cerberus, he ran away!"
"Look! There's a door on the ground! And there are traces of pulling!" Ron pointed to the ground.
"Snape must be inside!" Harry said decisively: "The Philosopher's Stone must be inside too! We must follow him!"
"Oh... I think we should run away quickly..." Neville's voice was filled with a serious tremor.
Harry and Ron shifted their gazes from the door panel, following Neville's line of sight—the Cerberus had opened one of its eyes. Only the whites were visible as it tried to reveal its pupil.
“Run!” Harry pulled Ron and Neville, and the three of them dashed out of the corridor, running outside. In that instant, the Cerberus fully awakened, lunging and tearing off a piece of Ron's clothing, exposing Ron's back.
“Close the door!” Ron shouted as he ran out. The three of them worked together to shut the door to the corridor, the Cerberus's large tongue oozing saliva from the crack.
Meanwhile, in the corridor where the Philosopher's Stone was kept, Snape had just arrived at the location of the Mirror of Erised. However, Dumbledore was already waiting, having arrived even earlier than Snape.
“Severus, are you injured?” Dumbledore asked.
“That damned Cerberus wouldn't let me in.” Snape took out a vial of potion he carried with him and drank it. The wounds on his body instantly stopped bleeding and even visibly improved.
“Go back! I will watch over this Philosopher's Stone through the night,” Dumbledore said.
“Very well!” Snape decisively turned and left.
Once Snape had left the hall, Dumbledore looked at the Mirror of Erised and said, “Why did that little rascal take the Philosopher's Stone? Surely not because he can't put it back?”
Keli: [You're right… I really didn't want to take it, but I really can't put it back.]
“If it's for that foolish reason, I think he'll have to treat me to another meal!” Dumbledore smiled as he looked into the mirror. In the mirror were Dumbledore and his family, eating dinner. Dumbledore's sister was at the corner of the table, her face filled with a happy smile. Notably, in an inconspicuous position, an outsider had been added—none other than Harry Potter.
Dumbledore stroked the mirror with his aged hands, as if he were piercing through time.
====================
On the other side, Hermione took out her wand, softly chanting several prepared spells. Keli poked his head out beside her, keeping watch and estimating the casting distance.
“About 30 feet left!” Keli whispered. By now, the giant's footsteps sounded like a large drum, the ground trembling—because thirty feet, or about ten meters, is close enough to feel the ground shake from a giant monster.
“Okay!” Hermione gripped Keli's cloak with her left hand, her right hand holding her wand, and instantly darted out.
Her lithe, young body, taking advantage of the giant's lack of reaction, instantly projected outwards, the cloak perfectly covering the upper half of the giant's face.
“[Permanent Adhesive]” Hermione shouted the spell while holding her wand, and almost simultaneously, pointed the wand at the giant's head.
A beam of light shot out from the wand's tip. In the next second, the cloak seemed to be glued on with super-strength adhesive, tightly sticking to the giant's eyes. The giant roared loudly.
“Augh!…” The enormous roar echoed throughout Hogwarts.
Hermione wasn't afraid; instead, she advanced further, saying to the club before the giant could swing it, “[Accio Ground!]”
The giant's club fell to the ground like a large stone, landing squarely on the giant's right big toe. In pain, the giant squatted down, hugging his right foot.
The giant's head shook constantly, his roars even more terrifying, shaking the floorboards as if they were about to fall!
Keli moved closer, ready to support Hermione at any moment.
“[Impedimenta!]” Hermione finally cast the third spell at the giant's somewhat intact left foot.
As the spell was cast, the giant's left foot also seemed to sink into the mud, his movements becoming sluggish.
“There's a torch on top of the giant's head!” Keli reminded her.
“[Accio Ground!]” Hermione shot the spell at the torch, and it quickly fell, landing squarely on Keli's black cloak. The lamp oil inside splattered everywhere, igniting the entire cloak like gasoline, as if the giant's head was on fire.
Only now could the giant no longer endure the pain, rushing towards the nearby bathroom like a headless fly.
However, the bathroom was a small room, and the upper edge of the door was much lower than the giant. The giant crashed into the wall, his huge body falling to the left, and Hermione was right there!
“Careful!” Keli shouted, but Hermione had clearly exhausted herself from casting several spells in a row, and coupled with her mental tension, she didn't react. It looked as if the giant was about to crush Hermione.
“Ah!” Hermione was so frightened that she covered her head and squatted on the spot.
There was a thud, and as the body fell, the giant's head brushed against the wall. However, Hermione didn't feel her body being crushed. Opening her eyes, Keli's smiling face was right in front of her. Keli was holding up his hands, easily supporting the giant. The giant's left arm and back were gently supported by Keli's palms—like a ball of cotton candy.
Hermione was stunned! In Hermione's unbelievable gaze, Keli gently pushed his hands, throwing the giant's huge body to the side, slamming onto the ground—a dull sound. The giant's poor head had suffered three attacks in just a few dozen seconds, and it probably wouldn't wake up again.
Keli smelled the giant's stench, like a five-hundred-year-old cesspool, and couldn't help but disgustedly clap his hands, as if to shake off the dirt.
“Keli!” Hermione snapped out of her daze, ran to Keli, who was clapping his hands, and hugged him tightly.
“Alright! My little Valkyrie! You successfully took down the giant! Let's celebrate!” Keli clapped his hands, pulling Hermione's mentally strained little face away from his body.
“Unbelievable, we really defeated the giant!” Hermione's eyes sparkled with surprise and shocking joy.
“Let me correct you, you alone took down the giant! I didn't make a move while you were fighting!” Keli explained. He was also very happy: “I only caught the giant's body at the end. At the very end, the giant had clearly lost the ability to fight. So this is your achievement—100% your glory!”
“It's simply unbelievable even to myself!” Hermione looked at the giant body on the ground, as huge as a truck, her eyes about to light up. However, after only a few breaths, Hermione suddenly realized an obvious problem: “How can you support the giant's body? It must weigh at least 2500 pounds!”
“When you have time, I'll tell you in detail. Now, let's welcome your glory!” Keli said—he had already heard the faint footsteps coming from the other end of the corridor, which should be the footsteps of several professors.
“What do you mean?” Hermione didn't understand Keli.
“I have something to do, I'll go take care of something first.
Remember, don't say I was here, I'm leaving first! You defeated the giant alone! You're not lying, are you?” Keli shrugged and disappeared into the shadows of the light.
Hermione wanted to ask another question, but she noticed movement at the end of the corridor—several professors were rushing over. Hermione turned her head again, and Keli was gone.
“Wow! Look what we have here? A giant, and a fully grown one at that!” Herbology Professor Sprout's surprised voice came first. Her voice was always loud, just like her strength.
Beside her stood Snape and Professor McGonagall, followed by Professor Quirrell. The moment Quirrell saw the giant, he showed an expression of fear and surprise—an expression so strange that Hermione noticed Professor Quirrell, who was walking at the back, immediately.
In a split second, Hermione thought of what Keli had specially told her earlier: defeat the giant alone.
The next moment, Hermione connected the professors' late arrival. Shouldn't they have arrived earlier? Adding Professor Quirrell's strange expression, Hermione suddenly had a feeling of discovering something extraordinary. This feeling made her uneasy, and Hermione's pupils contracted—what exactly was Keli hiding?
“Miss Granger, what happened?” Professor McGonagall, walking at the front, asked quickly but gently.
“Respected professors, as you can see, I believe I understand giants well enough, so I decided to fight it alone, hoping to help you subdue it! And obviously, my magic is not bad, barely defeating the enemy,” Hermione waved her hands, pretending to be relaxed, and showing the confidence of a teenager and the pride of a top student.
“Did you defeat it alone?” Quirrell, hiding at the back, asked fearfully.
“Of course! As you can see, there's no one else here!” Hermione put her wand back into her pocket, her waist seemingly strained just now.
“Wow!” There was an uproar, and several professors exchanged incredible glances. Snape walked to the giant and carefully checked the giant's breathing and heartbeat.
“It's not dead yet, but it's clearly seriously injured and has completely lost its combat power!” Snape said solemnly: “The magical fluctuations here are very small, with no traces of adult wizards using magic!”
Professor McGonagall also carefully checked the surroundings, touched the charred wizard's cloak, and looked at the fallen torch.
After a long time, Professor McGonagall turned to face Hermione and said: “Brave little lion, you really shocked me! I will apply to Headmaster Dumbledore to add a full one hundred points to Gryffindor House! But…”
Professor McGonagall put on a stern face again and continued: “I must first deduct five points for you disobeying orders and leaving the group of students alone!”
“Miss Granger, please return to the dormitory! You have completed what you wanted to do, whether it is appropriate or not.”
Hermione nodded happily to the professors and trotted away from the corridor.
Thus, on her first Halloween in her first year, Hermione completed her [First Monster Kill]!
