The Mountain of Ice and Fire

Doran Martell was Arianne's father, the Prince of Dorne and Lord of Sunspear. Years after Oberyn was killed by the Mountain, the Dornish thirst for revenge reached its peak, but Prince Doran had no intention of sending the Dornish legions north to attack the Iron Throne. This was strongly opposed by Arianne Martell and Ellaria Sand.

So, Arianne Martell and Ellaria Sand plotted a coup, capturing Prince Doran in Sunspear. Arianne then placed her father, Doran Martell, under house arrest in his favorite Water Gardens. Supported by Ellaria Sand and others, Arianne took the throne in the Tower of the Sun.

Subsequently, Arianne gathered tens of thousands of Dornish soldiers, marched out of the Red Mountains, and launched a surprise attack on Highgarden in the Reach. As Highgarden was on the verge of collapse, the Mountain appeared in the night sky riding a dragon. Dragonfire rained down, forcing Arianne and the entire Dornish army to kneel and submit. Under the threat of dragon's might and dragonfire, Arianne and the Dornish swore allegiance to the Mountain.

After the battle, Arianne was taken to the Tower of Joy by the Mountain. They engaged in passionate lovemaking and became husband and wife in all but name. From then on, Arianne was kept by the Mountain's side until he completely conquered her.

From the beginning, Doran Martell had firmly opposed the Dornish launching an all-out rebellion, believing it would bring disaster to Dorne. Although Dorne had never truly been conquered, Doran believed it was because all the major battles had taken place within Dorne, not on foreign expeditions. Doran thought that once the Dornish left Dorne on an expedition, they would inevitably suffer a crushing defeat.

Dornish soldiers were not suited for fighting in cold regions or plains. Dornish horses were only small ponies, putting them at a disadvantage in battlefield charges. Once outside Dorne, all geographical and logistical advantages would be lost... But no amount of rational analysis could reverse the burning desire for revenge for Oberyn and the nine great houses of Dorne held by Arianne and Ellaria... Thus, the coup suddenly occurred in Sunspear...

To this day, Arianne has already given birth to a son, Prince Rodrik Clegane, for the Mountain, and Prince Doran Martell remains under house arrest in the Water Gardens.

After launching the coup, Arianne acted unilaterally and quickly gathered all the soldiers in Dorne, sending them out en masse. But as Prince Doran had predicted, in order to save the lives of tens of thousands of Dornish soldiers, Arianne Martell was forced to kneel and submit to the Mountain, and was even forced to publicly swear to be the Mountain's woman for life... Afterwards, even when Arianne returned to Dorne several times, she was always too ashamed to face her father, Doran, who was under house arrest in the Water Gardens.

In the year 187 of Aegon's Conquest, 115 years ago, Prince Maron Martell married Daenerys Targaryen (the King's sister). This marriage marked Dorne's formal integration into the Targaryen dynasty, and the Seven Kingdoms were finally peacefully unified.

After Maron Martell and Daenerys were married, he knelt before Daeron II Targaryen and swore allegiance. Daeron helped up his brother-in-law and rode with him to the Great Sept of Baelor. At the foot of Baelor's statue, they laid wreaths and, under the auspices of the High Septon, announced the formal unification of the kingdom to the nation.

Daeron II granted Dorne many privileges: the Martell family was allowed to retain their royal title; the royal family recognized the Martell family's autonomy within Dorne under their own laws; they could independently formulate and collect taxes payable to the Iron Throne... Another layer of meaning to this was that Dorne could choose whether or not to pay taxes to the royal family, and if they were to pay, the amount would be determined by the Martell family.

Prince Maron loved his Targaryen wife deeply. He built the Water Gardens on the beach thirty miles from Sunspear as a gift for his wife Daenerys. From then on, the Water Gardens became Dorne's noble academy. All the children of Dorne's great nobles were sent to the Water Gardens as children to receive royal education. The best among them automatically became the Prince's squires when they came of age, and returned to their families after their coming-of-age ceremony. Eventually, these children all became the heads of Dorne's great families and were fiercely loyal to the Prince of Dorne.

From the year 187 of Aegon's Conquest onwards, politically, the Targaryen family unified Dorne, but in fact, Dorne maintained its military, trade, legal, and tax independence.

Dorne's privileges continued until the fall of the Targaryen dynasty. In the era of Robert Baratheon I, Dorne continued to maintain these privileges, until Arianne launched a coup and led her troops to a disastrous defeat, after which the independent privileges enjoyed by Dorne were subtly eliminated by the Mountain...

In the course of history, the Water Gardens became the private residence of the Dornish ruler, Prince Martell, and a school for cultivating noble leaders loyal to the Martell family.

It is a vast palace composed of fountains and gardens. It is located on the beach about thirty-six miles west of Sunspear, and a coastal road connects it to Sunspear.

There are three 'mores' in this garden: first, pools; second, fountains; and third, blood orange trees. As for the flowers and green grass, they are all complements to the pools, fountains, and blood orange trees.

Even in gardens planted with countless exotic flowers and herbs, tall and lush blood orange trees are the main feature.

The Mountain had heard of the Water Gardens for a long time, but this was his first time visiting in person.

He rode there with Princess Arianne Martell. Behind them were two columns of Prince's Guard soldiers, thirty-six in total.
