This Actor Is Full Of Tricks

#44 - There is an extra shadow!

An hour later, nearing 8:30 PM, the group finally saw the Suolong Mountain Tunnel at the foot of the mountain.

At the end of the abandoned highway, the mountain range lay like a giant dragon chained to the ground, with the dark tunnel entrance at its waist, devoid of light, resembling the gateway to hell.

Lin Jue didn't understand Feng Shui or geomancy, but the tunnel's construction location seemed problematic no matter how he looked at it.

Qiao Kang was the first to climb over the roadside guardrail, turning on his camera and aiming it at the tunnel ahead, his voice both excited and nervous: "Friends, although there were some minor issues along the way, we've finally arrived at the tunnel."

"Are the legends about the tunnel true or false? Let's wait and see. If I'm lucky enough to come back alive and upload this video, I hope everyone will give me some coins! Support the streamer!"

He seemed unusually excited, as if he thought he would become famous after uploading this video.

Peace Dove was the second to climb over, not stopping, but heading towards the tunnel on his own: "Let's film this quickly and go back."

"Bro, wait for me." Lin Jue followed closely, walking alongside him.

Following them closely was Jiajia, and behind her were Chen Fugui and his wife, the female streamer finally feeling a sense of security in the middle of the group.

Upon reaching the tunnel entrance, Qiao Kang took out several headlamps from his bag and distributed them to everyone: "Put these on later."

Everyone did as he said, the headlamps lighting up and shining into the tunnel, finally bringing a sliver of light into the dark space.

"Let's go." Qiao Kang, holding the camera, walked to the front of the group.

Behind him were Chen Fugui and his wife, followed by the female streamer Jiajia, and then Lin Jue and Peace Dove.

The temperature inside the tunnel was lower than outside. Chen Fugui couldn't help but sneeze, rubbing his nose: "Only a few of us would dare to come to this broken place."

"To be honest, in this day and age, it's not easy to find people as willing to court death as we are."

Qiao Kang walked ahead, half-joking, trying to ease the tense atmosphere inside the tunnel.

However, his words seemed a bit off. Even Chen Fugui, who had been talking just now, closed his mouth, not saying a word.

The group walked in silence, using the light from their headlamps to examine the environment inside the tunnel.

Perhaps due to water leakage, there was a lot of standing water on the ground inside the tunnel, and they could also see some cardboard piled against the walls, covered in mold.

Qiao Kang pointed the camera at the cardboard: "It seems some scavengers have lived in this tunnel before."

Lin Jue looked at the cardboard. As Qiao Kang said, it seemed to be a place where scavengers had lived, but strangely, if the scavengers had left, why didn't they take the cardboard with them?

For scavengers, these things were their source of income, so they would never casually throw them away under normal circumstances.

Unless they encountered some emergency and couldn't take the cardboard with them.

"Was it because they were escaping for their lives? Carrying these cardboard pieces would only slow down their escape."

He walked over, flipping through the cardboard amidst the strange gazes of the others.

The side of the cardboard closest to the wall was covered in moss, and he found some scratch marks on the moss.

The scratch marks were very low, like the marks left by someone struggling after falling to the ground.

A scene flashed in his mind: a scavenger came to this tunnel with cardboard to rest, but encountered something terrifying. He wanted to throw away the cardboard and escape, but that thing grabbed his legs and he fell to the ground.

That thing dragged the scavenger, and the scavenger struggled desperately, leaving scratch marks on the moss.

What kind of thing would grab someone's legs when attacking? Could that thing be crawling on the ground?

Or did the scavenger fall down during the escape and get grabbed by that thing?

He patted the mold off his hands, noticing everyone looking at him strangely. He smiled embarrassedly: "Sorry, sorry, I've been reading too many detective novels and I'm used to investigating when I see something strange."

"You really are a math genius." Qiao Kang laughed, his tone unclear whether it was praise or sarcasm.

"Let's go."

The group didn't linger and continued deeper into the tunnel. It was very quiet inside, with only the sound of their footsteps and faint breathing.

Occasionally, they could hear the sound of rats scurrying by, squeaking twice and scurrying into their burrows after seeing people.

Along the way, apart from abandoned garbage and fallen tunnel lights, there was nothing strange. Everything seemed normal inside the tunnel.

However, during the journey, Jiajia, who was walking in front of Lin Jue, turned around and glared at him several times, leaving Lin Jue completely baffled. What was wrong with this woman?

"Let's go a little further and then go back. We should have enough footage by now."

Qiao Kang said softly, speaking into the camera: "Friends, this spirit exploration trip is basically coming to an end. My final conclusion is that this just looks like a normal tunnel. All the legends are just rumors, perhaps it was abandoned due to planning issues."

As soon as Qiao Kang finished speaking, Jiajia in front of Lin Jue turned around unhappily, staring at him and asking: "Why are you always breathing on my neck?"

"I didn't." Lin Jue was asked inexplicably. The next second, he felt a cold draft of air blowing on the back of his neck.

It wasn't the warm air exhaled by Peace Dove behind him, only blown air is cold.

Given Peace Dove's personality, he would never do such a boring thing, which could only mean that something else behind him was breathing on him!

But if there was something behind him, why didn't Jiajia see it when she turned around?

Lin Jue turned around abruptly, looking behind him.

Behind him was only Peace Dove with a strange expression. He touched the back of his neck, seemingly feeling someone breathing on him as well.

But there was clearly nothing behind him!

"Why? That thing must be here, why can't I see it? Is it invisible?"

In Lin Jue's vision, the True Sight Dharma Eyes didn't see any dark energy at all.

But the feeling of being breathed on just now was definitely not wrong.

"Ah!" Suddenly, Jiajia screamed, falling to the ground, pointing at the wall with a trembling hand: "On the wall! There's… there's an extra shadow on the wall!"

A shadow!?

Because Lin Jue and Jiajia turned around, the light from their headlamps shone on the wall diagonally behind them. Lin Jue's shadow was cast on the wall diagonally behind him by Jiajia's light, and Peace Dove's shadow was also cast on that wall by his light.

Because it was oblique light, the shadows were stretched very long. Only the upper bodies of Peace Dove and him were projected onto the wall at an angle.

But behind their shadows, there was another shadow.

Unlike their slanted shadows, that shadow was like being directly projected onto the wall by light from the side, without any stretching or shortening.

At first glance, it definitely didn't belong to anyone among them.

It seemed as if an invisible person was standing at the back of the group, following them all the way.
