Traveling through the game world, starting out as a third-rate villain
Chapter 74: Developing a Training Plan
"Is everyone here? Let's start." President Adrian said as he looked at us gathered together.
Today will be the first training session with the Archery Club, and every member will be gathered here.
Of course, it is not mandatory to attend the training, but considering the budget of the club and the number of people participating in the club, naturally everyone is keen to come.
After all, even getting a few small tips from these seniors can be very helpful for those seeking to improve themselves.
'Well, it's mostly the excitement of the first day, but nothing else,' I thought, because from the first day on, the freshmen will drop out one by one.
"Today is our first training day, I think everyone should be ready." President Adrian began, his voice steady with experience. His sharp eyes scanned everyone present, making each member feel like they were the only one being noticed.
"As you know, archery is a discipline that requires precision, focus and dedication. It's not just about your strength, but how you control your body and mind." He continued, "Today, we started with the basics. Although I know everyone here has learned archery to some extent. But in class, what is taught is just the postures in the textbook."
President Adrian picked up the bow and arrow skillfully, demonstrating the correct posture and technique.
“In real combat, everything is constantly changing. No matter how talented you are or how many times you have practiced basic archery techniques, there will always be times when you can’t use the perfect posture. Here, it is important to know that as an archer, you need to constantly adjust your posture according to the position and situation.”
Whoosh
He drew the bow with smooth and graceful movements, and released the arrow with a slight "hum".
Bang
The arrow flew straight towards the target and hit the bull's eye accurately.
“These are what you hear from hunters, or from hunters on the Internet. Probably most of you here think that the examples and theories in textbooks are useless in practice.”
President Adrian continued, "But let me tell you, understanding the theory and mastering the basics will make it easier for you to adapt to any situation. It's like having a solid foundation on which you can build your skills."
Watching his words and the reactions of the community members, I could tell that Adrian was well suited to being a leader. His voice was full of authority, and when you listened to him, it felt like he was making a key point.
The reactions of the freshmen reflected this point. The club members all nodded, as if they realized that theory and practice are not opposites, but complement each other.
"If those without prestige said this, they would probably be laughed at."
They are eager to learn because of temporary excitement and enthusiasm, but this emotion will not last long.
"Now, let's begin today's training." President Adrian picked up the bow again, "I will demonstrate my personal postures that I have developed over the years and the postures in the textbooks. I want each of you to derive your own variations based on your body type and comfort level. This will be your first task as members of the Archery Club. I want you to create your own posture and show me its merits through your report."
These words shocked the new members.
"What?"
“How can we create our own poses?”
"Does he really expect us to do such a thing?"
'Where's your excitement now?'
Obviously, they didn't expect to have such a task on the first day. This task is indeed not easy. Even in the game, this task will take a whole semester or even a year, depending on the affinity of the character.
However, this society is not a charity. As they say, they want members to contribute to the field of archery, and this is one way to do that. By showcasing different ideas, everyone can contribute to the field.
Of course, this does not mean that there is only one way. You can also ask seniors for advice and basically learn from them.
He then demonstrated his favorite stance, his body relaxed yet ready for action.
He considers every move carefully and encourages members to focus on the key points of balance, precision and flexibility.
'That explains why he became the president. 'The stance he assumed was almost perfectly adapted to his body, and his talent with the bow and arrow was revealed.
"Now, I want everyone to give it a try. Don't be afraid to experiment, find what works best for you, and ask the seniors for advice. I will go around and find those who want to learn and give them some guidance."
After saying this, everyone started practicing with the bow, and I was no exception.
As I began to practice with the compound bow, I couldn't help but notice the looks from some of the students around me. The looks they gave me were not friendly at all, in fact, they were a little contemptuous.
“He uses a compound bow?” one student whispered to another, barely hiding their laughter.
"Yeah, I heard that kind of bow is for hunters who don't know how to use a recurve bow." Another person laughed softly.
"Isn't he the lowest-ranked student here? He actually needs that 'wheelchair'."
There were many classes in the academy, so not everyone knew me. However, it seemed that my reputation as the weakest student had spread.
However, I stayed focused on the practice. It was nothing new anyway, so the training continued.
......
"Oh, Mr. Morse, you're here."
Just as I was immersed in the training, I suddenly heard the voice I had been waiting for. It was Coach Joey.
"Coach Joey," I responded, lowering my bow. By this time, an hour had passed and most of the freshmen had left the practice field.
"Sure enough, my vision was right." He nodded with a smile. He was wearing casual clothes, with some small pieces of dust and dirt on his sleeves, and a faint smell of burnt soil mixed with the smell of blood.
'He just came back from the dungeon.'
It seems that a dungeon has appeared near the college.
"What's the matter?" I asked.
"Follow me." He gestured for me to follow him. I didn't waste any time and followed him immediately.
Leading me to a small door, he looked me in the eyes.
"I've been watching you train."
“Are you watching?”
"Yes. For someone who has only recently started using a bow, you have improved very quickly."
Whoosh
He scanned the bracelet and the door opened. The scene in front of me reminded me of some science fiction movies on Earth.
The room is filled with light, but still dim. There are monitors and holograms showing what's going on around you. It looks like a shooting range, but it's different.
"What is this place? You must be wondering about this." He walked towards a device. "Here," he pointed to the shooting range and continued, "I want you to continue training here for a while."
"I see," I replied. Judging from the displays and holograms, it wasn't hard to understand the function of this place. "You want to analyze my body, right?"
"Yes. As I watched you, I saw that you had already developed your own ideas about the bow. But your body has not yet fully adapted to them."
He showed the body parts displayed on the monitor and continued:
"Since you haven't fully developed a particular muscle, I want you to use this room to get a better analysis. With the results, I will be able to provide you with a training method that is tailored to your body. What do you think?"
"I have no reason to refuse."
I have been training non-stop since my awakening, but that doesn't mean my training is efficient. In the academy, you can consult professors about these issues, but my homeroom teacher is Eleanor White, and I don't want to deal with that woman.
This is a great opportunity, and it's one of the reasons why I joined the Archery Club.
Unlike other weapon-related clubs, archery clubs have relatively modern methods of training.
The Lance Club is made up of hard-headed individuals who prefer the old training methods passed down from the first generation of hunters, and the same is true of the Sword Club.
This is mainly because of the characters that represent each weapon. The Sword Emperor and the Spear Emperor both come from famous families, and the way they represent these weapons also seems a bit old-school.
However, Gong Di is different. She has a whole new understanding of things, and she is also a magazine model.
That's why the Archery Club is supported by the current Archery Emperor and adopts modern training methods, and this room is one of them. Of course, the Academy also provides such a room, but it requires students to have a high ranking, which I don't meet now and will not be qualified until the midterm exam.
So this has been something I've been working towards, but to be honest, I didn't expect it to happen so quickly. I thought it would happen after I gave some arrogant freshmen a good beating, but now it seems that won't be necessary.
Coach Joey led me further into the room, and I couldn't help but feel a mixture of anticipation and excitement as I looked around. This modern facility seemed designed for serious training and improvement.
"Let's do some basic assessments first," Coach Joy explained. "I want you to shoot a few arrows at those holographic targets."
And so the training began, from stationary targets to moving targets, to shooting in the river, and even shooting at the ground…
"Very good, your results will be out tomorrow, and I will send you your training plan after that." Coach Joey said after the training.
"OK."
"Then you can leave."
“Thank you for your help,” I responded, looking down.
I've felt really helped over the past week, and that's not a bad feeling.
“It’s my duty,” Coach Joy waved, and I was out of the place a short while later, heading towards my room.
Honestly, today's session wasn't bad. I was able to test my archery skills in a dynamic and challenging environment, but it was more than that. I also got feedback from Coach Joey which helped me a lot.
He gave me some advice that I had ignored while training, such as how to control my mana when drawing the bow, how to increase the speed of the arrow by adding mana to the tip of the arrow, reduce wind resistance, and so on.
My reflexes and adaptability are good, but that's only in my head. I still need to work on my body more, and I look forward to the professional training program that Coach Joey has promised to send me.
'Now, that's all that remains.'
bite
Just as I was walking towards the room, I heard the notification sound from my watch.
"Sure enough, they didn't refuse."
Looking at the message, I thought.
