Under the Red Dragon
#48 - Blood doesn't satisfy me
Karon moved his body, his massive frame wobbling and twisting in the cell, his movements extremely uncoordinated. Occasionally, uneven weight distribution would cause him to sprain an ankle.
Fortunately, the dragon's excellent physical condition prevented him from getting injured, otherwise, Karon might have become the first dragon in the world to sprain an ankle while walking.
Karon was trying to actively use the newly formed sub-brain nodes to control his body, but it seemed that the new sub-brain nodes were not yet up to the task. After trying for a while, he decisively gave up on the idea, knowing he couldn't rush things.
Today, Karon still didn't appear in the arena, but he heard occasional bursts of enthusiastic cheers and clamor from the upper levels, with the word 'dragon' occasionally drifting down.
Unfortunately, the entire arena floor and the two levels below were isolated from his senses by magic arrays, so he didn't know which young dragon was fighting.
The arena's cells were arranged in a ring around the entire structure, so he couldn't see the other young dragons. However, he wasn't too worried about them.
The first arena fight shouldn't involve particularly strong opponents for the young dragons. They were currently the arena's cash cows and attractions, and the organizers wouldn't be so short-sighted.
Even though the young dragons were still in their infancy, they were still true dragons, superior to most creatures in the world. No ordinary warriors or magical beasts should even think about a one-on-one challenge.
"Hooray, dragon, kill them, crush them!" A man stood up and shouted, and the crowd, fond of excitement and passion, echoed his cries. The arena's high platform saw the atmosphere become noisy, gradually reaching a climax.
"What a beautiful beast! Hey, tear those gladiators apart, then eat them piece by piece, and I'll reward you with a gold coin!" An old man in noble attire said with arrogance, theatrically pinching a delicate gold coin and tossing it high, letting it fall near the arena wall.
Women cheered, throwing down their headscarves and garlands, fueling the atmosphere. Some bold and uninhibited women even opened their clothes, taking off their underwear and waving it in their hands. These people craved the stimulation of blood, driven to near madness by the adrenaline rush.
Crimson red scales, a five-meter-long body, and wings that stretched up to ten meters when unfurled – this was Kleinaiya, a stubborn little female dragon.
Listening to the roaring cheers and clamor of the crowd, Kleinaiya's dragon blood gradually heated up. She wanted to spread her wings and fly high, turning her hidden anger into flames and turning everyone to ashes, making them die in agonizing screams.
However, the dozens or hundreds of powerful warriors on the stands exuding extraordinary power, and the magical barrier covering the arena's dome radiating intense magical energy, kept her rational.
She could suddenly lash out and kill many humans who came to the arena for excitement before being subdued again. But who cared? The high-ranking nobles didn't care, the dragon clan didn't care about these people, and even the people themselves didn't care.
The rational Kleinaiya developed a strong sense of disgust. She began to hate her weakness, hate her life being controlled by others, like a fish on a chopping board.
She hated that she could only watch Karon stand alone in front of the dragon clan, while she was powerless, hated that she and the dragon clan had become Karon's burden.
From the moment Kleinaiya's consciousness was born in the egg, she had been paying attention to Karon. He was her sibling, but Karon's consciousness was born later than hers, so Karon should be her younger brother.
Every time Kleinaiya tried to communicate with Karon through consciousness, she received no response. She even thought that her sibling would become a low-grade, unintelligent beast or a stillborn fetus.
But this idiot who didn't respond to her hatched before her. The female dragon, who should have been the older sister, became the younger sister, so the competitive little female dragon challenged Karon's position.
She failed, but she didn't give up. She still thought that one day she could catch up with Karon's pace, defeat him, make Karon willingly submit to her, and take back that stupid word 'sister'.
But as time went on, this goal seemed to become increasingly distant, until now, she had become so weak that she was the burden Karon was dragging behind.
Distant and unattainable? Kleinaiya's cold vertical pupils stared ahead. Five elite gladiators, wearing iron armor and holding spears and shields, were cautiously approaching, striking their shields as they surrounded her. The gradually heating dragon blood drove her to spew out destructive flames.
But Kleinaiya suppressed the dragon fire. These dragon flames were deeply hidden in her corrupted dragon blood. So, the red dragon spread her wings, revealing her ferocious fangs, and pounced on the gladiators.
The repeatedly compacted ground was swept up by the rushing wind, creating a cloud of dust. The crimson-red young dragon, with pupils that flickered like burning flames, emerged from the flying dust, like a monster suddenly appearing in the thick fog.
The gladiator in front shouted, lowered his waist, and raised his shield, aiming his spear at the charging red dragon.
Bang! The red dragon's angry, sharp claws struck the tough wooden shield inlaid with iron, sending the entire shield, along with the gladiator behind it, flying. Five large holes were pierced through the shield, which was nearly torn apart, as it flew through the air.
The gladiator's face was already covered in blood during the process of being knocked away, and the blood spraying from his mouth was like a gushing tap. He fell far away on the ground, lifeless.
The gladiator's achievement was only leaving an insignificant scratch on the red dragon's body with his spear.
The entire arena instantly erupted, but Kleinaiya didn't care. Her momentum didn't stop. The running body lowered its head and crashed straight into another gladiator's shield.
The hard head shattered the shield, and her hard, sharp dragon horns lifted the gladiator high into the air. Fresh blood spread down from the dragon horns, mixed with the dragon blood flowing from the newly added wounds, dripping down.
Roar! The pain from behind made Kleinaiya roar. Several spears were thrust into the red dragon's back by the gladiators who seized the opportunity to surround her, but the gladiators, who were horrified by the rapid deaths of their companions and eager to attack, also revealed fatal flaws.
Kleinaiya's long tail swung, sweeping across the lower bodies of the surrounding gladiators with a swift whoosh, and the force, like a siege hammer, instantly shattered the gladiators' legs.

Ah, ah, ah!
Miserable cries of pain. The gladiators helplessly hugged their collapsed and shattered legs, rolling on the ground and wailing. Even the fear of death could not dispel the pain of that moment.
Kleinaiya shook the gladiator's corpse off her dragon horns, walked closer step by step, and then, with a satisfied expression, listened to the wails of the remaining gladiators while crushing their heads to pieces with her dragon claws.
At this moment, the cheers in the arena reached their peak. The intense momentum seemed to be unstoppable even by the magical array on the dome, and it spread far away.
"Look, these are the beautiful and mighty dragons, savage and bloody monsters!"
The men shouted as much as they wanted, and the women moaned. Their faces were flushed, and at this moment, they seemed to have reached the climax of their lives.
But Kleinaiya just quietly looked at the claws covered with turbid white brain matter. She lowered her head, smelled them, and then calmly licked them clean.
From today onwards, she will regard herself as the sharpest weapon. She, Kleinaiya, will follow Karon's steps, break through the shackles bound to the dragons, for freedom, for the dragon clan, to make herself stronger!
She felt the boiling corrupted dragon blood that had been somewhat satisfied, and roared to the sky. The spreading dragon might and the high-pitched dragon roar suppressed the noise of the whole place. Kleinaiya shouted: "Come on, come on, the blood has not satisfied me yet, I crave battle!"
