Warhammer: In the Name of Ashes

Chapter 281 Preparations in Two Directions

"How long until zero hour?"

This is the same question asked by Calvin and Moloch in different places.

The star sector "Phase Eleven" where the Velasco galaxy is located is the remaining product of the division between the two star sectors after dealing with the wars from Chaos and the Orcs respectively.

Before it became a pilgrimage route to the world of Ophelia 7, the Bishop's World of "Icy Veil" was just one of countless worlds in the Segmentum Tempestus that were ruled by silence and poverty.

"There are still 22 hours."

The Death Plague Champion muttered in a low voice, with phlegm stuck in his half-dissolved throat like a stubborn nail-biter. No matter how loud his voice was, he ignored the dirty exhaust gas and stayed stuck in place.

His tall body became more swollen after surrendering to his loving father, and the flesh filled with corruption squeezed the rusted power armor from the inside out until the soft armor on his abdomen burst.

"boom!"

Like a bottle of expired champagne that has run out of gas, after the dull sound, there is another mouth with self-will on his body.

The green intestine seemed to have an aesthetic identity with the loving father at the moment of explosion. This piece of connective tissue was activated into a long blood-red tongue, which couldn't wait to poke out from the mouth of his abdomen, tasting the air of the real universe.

"I hate this time! It's neither 21 nor 28. I can't imagine what our being here means to my grandfather."

He circled around twice again, complaining to his colleagues around him.

The invasion of the Velax system came from the whim of "Traveler". This traitor in Mortarion's eyes had obviously received some special information somewhere.

He ordered his Death Plague Champion Fidel to lead a small team of Death Guards to infiltrate here.

After seizing this bishop's world, he used the remains of the saint buried in it to complete further sacrilegious rituals to tear apart the barriers of reality and summon his true self here.

The plague was quietly deployed in the starports leading to various planets before the invasion, and their raids also occurred after the chaos pollution occurred in various places.

The bishop here obviously underestimated the seriousness of the pollution and rashly sent out a small number of defense troops. The result was that when the Death Guards descended from the sky on moss-covered death claws, there was not even a single regiment of troops around him.

The fate of this bishop was of course tragic. The laser guns of the defense forces posed no threat to the Death Guard, and even the shots under battery overload were nothing more than a breeze.

They were eventually tortured to death by the Death Guard, and their souls were trapped in their rotting corpses after death, serving as a source of power to contaminate the saint's bones.

Seventy-nine days of contamination were about to be completed, and with the last 22 hours left, I received a communication from my boss.

On the creaking pile of bones, a demon that looked like the Great Unclean One but was beautiful in size crawled out of the shadows of the subspace.

It glanced at Fidel and the Death Guard behind him, and an old and evil voice said from a mouth full of sharp teeth and maggots:

"I bring news from the travellers."

"Oh? Oh!" Fidel was stunned for a moment, then reacted under the demon's gaze and pulled out the bishop's body from the pile of corpses wrapped in fungus carpet at his feet.

This poor guy's body has almost completely dissolved, like a pocket made of human skin, filled with everything he once had.

"Kill me... the end..." With only a layer of cornea left in his cloudy eyes, he looked at the demon approaching in front of him, struggling to convey his consciousness with his soul.

"Pain! Death! Struggle!"

The devil praised, then opened his mouth until it was larger than his own body and swallowed it in one gulp.

"Forehead!"

The demon's tiny body was full of malleability that defied common sense. After swallowing the corpse, he blinked and began to undergo horrific mutations.

A tree that was repeatedly entangled between withering and sprouting grew out of his body. While several rust-colored roots spread downwards, a huge pomegranate-like thing also grew on its head.

When the tree tumor grew to the size of a human head, a familiar face of Fidel began to appear from under the burst wooden skin on the tree tumor:

"Fidel..."

A distant voice came from the mouth of the head in front of him, and the Death Plague Champion in front of him also felt its majesty and knelt down on one knee to lower his head.

"You are too slow! Grandfather's favor will not rest on the lazy!"

"I tried my best..." The body of the Death Plague Champion trembled slightly. It was obvious that he was still afraid of the owner of this voice even though he was thousands of miles away.

But this is the only force he has in hand. After passing through the empire's heavy defenses all the way to get here, successfully finding the target is already the limit of his ability.

"I don't want to hear any excuses!"

The face on the tree tumor interrupted his words angrily. This person, who was also a special being among the Death Guard, obviously had more plans on this planet.

It is not cheap to use a Nurgle demon as a messenger. Fidel's slow progress made him intolerable, which is why he had this conversation.

"How much time is left!"

The traveler Typhons suppressed his anger, and the projection on the tree tumor simultaneously transmitted his words and emotions.

"Twenty-one hours and 49 minutes..." The Plague Champion replied with his head lowered. This subtle time made Typhons on the other side of time and space feel a little happy.

"21 hours? Too slow!"

Calvin frowned and looked at Alan Janus in front of him, giving his attitude.

"This is impossible! It will take nearly a day for us to reach the Ice Veil, and then what? How long will it take for us to reach Velax?"

"Then..." This was what Allen was waiting for, and he took advantage of the situation and put forward the plan he had already prepared.

"We can separate from the fleet, give up jumping out from near the icy veil, and instead aim directly at Velax. In this way, the time saved between the exit and entry will be nearly a day."

"your opinion?"

Calvin transferred the plan to Nicholas, who had no reason to stop it.

"Then let's do it! Inform the fleet members that the Angel of Punishment... Well, plus the Interstellar Labyrinth is temporarily out of sequence. We will meet at the next fleet node!"

"Your will!"

After Allen got a satisfactory answer, he turned and walked towards the bridge. Calvin also turned to the preparation hall and began to make advance preparations for the assembly of troops.

In the empty hall of the chapel, only Nicholas's lonely figure was left, and the half of a sentence he still choked in his mouth.

"That speech under the cold veil? Alas..."

Well, he actually knew that the scene in front of him was most likely a drama specially prepared for him by the master and servant.

Calvin's military style made him instinctively resistant to attending public events, and his previous identity belonged to a confidential unit, so he naturally did not have this responsibility.

But now he is at the top of the empire's power, and his guidance to the subjects of the empire is also an extremely important part of his public responsibilities.

Nicholas did not expect to be able to change Calvin's thinking in a short time, but this speech on the cold veil of the bishop's world was indeed a carefully prepared attempt on his part.

"Next time, it's still early anyway..."

He shook his head, glanced at the direction in which the master and servant who had "escaped victoriously" disappeared, and then started his arduous work again.
