280 Return to the Colosseum
Two days later,
"Move forward. Stop pushing." Rain Winds grunted as he looked back with irritation.
But there was not much that he could do. He was stuck in line, waiting to register in this long line that did not seem to move.
"I wonder why the guild master told us all to come with him here. Maybe he is giving us some special treatment?" His eyes lit up when he brought back the talk that he had with his guild master the day before.
Just remembering that gave him some more adrenaline to push forward.
"What's taking so long?" He grunted as he looked forward at the very end.
He could see that there was a desk and a young, pretty woman was sitting on the other end, slowly handing out tokens to people.
"How is it taking so long to give out tokens?" He shook his head.
The line took almost half an hour before it was finally his turn.
He looked at the young woman and smiled.
"Can I register for the colosseum please?" He asked with a smile on his face.
"Yes. Ten Silvers please." She asked calmly.
"Ten silvers?" His heart clenched as he took out ten silvers from his inventory. This was ten silvers! It took him so long for him to get this money.
"A thousand rupees for this colosseum? This better be worth it." He made a quick calculation in his head.
"You are assigned to the seventh arena. Please report there and get ready for your fight. You will be matched with a suitable opponent." the beautiful woman smiled and said.
Rain Winds nodded and he moved along.
"Why the hell did the line take so long? For just this? Who the hell held the line? Wasted thirty minutes of my life." He shook his head and started walking along the corridor that was set in front of him.
There were holographic signs to the side, telling him where to go.
As he followed the directions, he could find his way to the seventh arena pretty easily.
He could see a giant arch, and to the side, along the pillars, he could see that there were other corridors that led to other arenas.
And all of the corridors had arches that led to the same giant gathering.
Light poured out of the gathering onto the corridor, blinding him.
He gave it no attention and kept walking forward, crossing the arch.
The moment he did, a deafening roar suddenly filled his ears.
He looked up at the giant crowd that was sitting around the colosseum.
Every single seat in here was filled. The audience was a hundred thousand strong, at least.
"So many people! There is no way that people actually paid the one silver fee for the seats!" He exclaimed with surprise.
"They have got to be NPCs." He thought as he looked forward.
There were ten arenas in front of him, and it was clear that he was right in front of the seventh arena, where he was supposed to be.
He looked at the wooden token that was given to him.
His user name, and the arena number were carved onto the token with elegance.
"Alright. Time to go impress the guild master. He is definitely in the stands." He looked at the closest stands, where people had the best view.
A quick survey of the best seats revealed his guild master relatively quickly.
The guild master wasn't looking at him, but Rain Wind wasn't surprised. There were many people here from his guild.
"He will take notice of me once I prove myself. I need to win a few matches." He told himself as he started walking toward the arena.
Unfortunately for him, it seemed that the colosseum's popularity had exploded in recent days.
There was a giant line in front of the arena as well. There were dozens of players in front of the arena.
And who didn't know that if the players weren't matched with other players, there was a reserve of hundreds of NPCs to fight with?
Once again, Rain Wind had to join a line that didn't seem to move.
"I hate this. Once I get onto the arena, I have to keep my spot. All this waiting will be worthless if I just lose in the first match." He told himself.
He walked forward and found himself stumbling onto a giant man who towered over him.
Rain Wind shook his head and looked up at the six feet tall giant that glanced down at him.
The man had a thick beard and glasses, an interesting combination.
"So-sorry-" Rain Wind instinctively blurted out.
Just looking at the tall man was intimidating.
But another quick look at the man told him just who he was talking to.
"Wait. You are just a level twenty player?" He shook his head with disdain.
"And I actually apologized to you?" He chuckled.
"Move over." Rain Winds said with a new found confidence. "I can't be waiting so long for you bums to be losing in just one match."
The giant bearded man, Forest Hound, smiled lightly.
"It's alright. Next time, watch where you are walking." He said as he turned back.
It was as if Forest Hound didn't hear what Rain Wind said later.
Two black lines appeared on Rain Wind's forehead.
"Oh, he is asking for it now."
One by one, the line started going forward, and eventually, the man in front of Rain Wind stepped onto the arena.
"Unfortunate. I wanted to crush that guy myself." Rain Wind sighed.
A minute later, a voice called out.
"Next."
"That quick? I didn't even get to see what happened!" Rain Wind exclaimed as he stepped into this portal that led into the arena.
Immediately, he was dropped into an elevated platform and faced his opponent.
A few feet in front of him, the bearded man looked at him, smiling, with a staff in his hands.
"You actually won? That is shocking." Rian Winds smiled.
"I have to make this quick. Sorry. My guild master told me that if I get seven wins, then I will get promoted to a guild captain." The bearded man smiled.
Above them, a box with numbers started moving.
With every turn of the box, the number started changing.
"3"
"2"
"1"
"Start"
A blur moved in front of Rain Wind.
He quickly raised his staff and moved back.
"Tempered Gale!"
A green gale appeared in front of him, pushing him back, but also seemingly creating a force to push back the bearded man who rushed forward.
"Idiot. Now, I have space." Rain Wind smiled as he started chanting.
The problem with being a mage was that he had to start memorizing the spells that he used. But the power that these spells had made everything worth it.
"Tempest Gale!" He called out as his staff glowed green.
"You are done now." He smiled with confidence.
The bearded man was at the other end, with not a bead of sweat.
"Spoke too early?" He whispered.
Two blurs moved.
One green, the spell that encompassed where the bearded man once stood.
And the second? A dark flash that appeared right behind Rain Wind.
"Game Over."
The bearded man smiled as his staff struck Rain Wind. In dismay, Rain Wind saw his health bar drop to zero in one attack.
"Winner: Forest Hound from Bright Horizon."
