Chapter 227 The 3rd Buddha
Chapter 227 The Third Buddha
Lucia likes to eat meat, how does Abbot Shi Hui know?
Is it a good monk?
Anyway, there is no taboo for meat and vegetables, so there is not so much attention.
So what about the Buddha?
I am now a lay disciple!
However, what stunned Yizun and Rukia was that the big-eared abbot Shihui actually
It is also not taboo for meat and vegetables.
"Abbot, you stretched your chopsticks wrong."
Just a reminder.
Could it be that the abbot's eyesight was not working well, or that the candlelight was dim at night, but the master's chopsticks actually reached into Rukia's bowl.
There are two dishes in front of Rukia:
fish meat.
chicken.
"Amitabha! The poor monk helps Master Lucia share some of the burden. It seems that Master Lucia doesn't eat much."
Abbot Shi Hui said calmly.
"That's a meat dish."
One is very interested, isn't the wine and meat monk what everyone wants to be?
"Meat dishes, vegetarian dishes, aren't they all dishes?"
After Abbot Shi Hui finished speaking, he picked up a piece of chicken, threw it into his mouth, closed his eyes and chewed it with relish, shaking his head from time to time.
Rukia smiled and said:
"Monk, look at your intoxicated face, you usually eat tofu every day, you should rarely eat chicken!"
"I eat tofu, and I'm also intoxicated."
Abbot Shi Hui clasped his hands together and said.
One seemed to be touched, and said seriously:
"The abbot's words revealed a mystery. He was indeed an eminent monk. Before I came here, I had only heard of Baolian Temple. When I came to the archway in front of the temple, it said Baolian Temple.
There is an extra word of Zen, what does it mean? "
Abbot Shi Hui said:
"Buddha's Dharma is profound, did you deliberately come to test the cultivation of the poor monk?"
"Don't dare, I don't know much about Buddhism, so I will ask the master for advice."
One said.
"Amitabha! Zen means thinking. Zen is the main sect of Buddhism, and our Baolian Monastery is the dojo for practicing Southern Zen."
Facing the Buddhist disciples, Abbot Shi Hui talked eloquently:
"Since Bodhidharma's ancestor Yiwei crossed the river and came to China to establish Zen Buddhism to the sixth patriarch Huineng, Zen Buddhism has flourished, and there are five schools and seven sects.
Up to now, although Zen Buddhism has declined, it is still the authentic Buddhism. Our Baolian Monastery belongs to the Southern Sect of "Nan Dun Bei Jian". "
Sudden south and gradual north, it is said that the Nanzong founded by the sixth patriarch Huineng pays attention to "sudden enlightenment".
Beizong pays attention to "gradual enlightenment".
One was visiting Hengshan Mountain in Nanyue, and knew that there was a mirror grinding platform in the Banshan Pavilion.
Mojingtai is a story about the difference between the northern and southern Zen schools.
Master Nanyue Huairang was a disciple of the Sixth Patriarch Huineng, who was later called the Seventh Patriarch of Zen.
He studied with Huineng for 15 years. After he finished his studies, he served as the abbot of Banruo Temple in Hengshan, Nanyue, and promoted the "Sudden Enlightenment Method" of Huineng Nanzong.
At that time, there was a monk surnamed Ma who lived in a hut on Nanyue Mountain. He meditated every day and practiced the "Gradual Enlightenment Method" of the Northern School.
This monk surnamed Ma, whose Buddha name is "Daoyi", is also a remarkable figure.
As early as when Huai Rang was learning from Huineng, Huineng said:
"The No. 20 Seventh Patriarch of the Western Paradise, Prajna Doro, once predicted: A horse will come out from your seat, and it will trample and kill the people of the world."
The foal mentioned here refers to Mazu Daoyi.
Daoyi later established a sect in Jiangxi, carried forward Zen Buddhism, and spread it overseas. Even Japan and South Korea had eminent monks come to learn it, which confirmed the prophecy of the 27th Patriarch Prajna in the West.
And Patriarch Bodhidharma is the No.20 Eighth Patriarch of the West.
Huairang knew that Daoyi would be a powerful figure in promoting the Southern Sect in the future, so he decided to enlighten him.
So Huairang took a brick and grinded it vigorously on a big rock next to Daoyi who was meditating.
The ear-piercing sound of rubbing made Daoyi unable to meditate, so he asked curiously:
"Master, what are you grinding bricks for?"
"Make a mirror."
"Can a brick be ground into a mirror?"
"Then if you meditate all day long, can you become a Buddha?"
Dao Yi's heart moved, and he asked quickly:
"How can one become a Buddha?"
Huai Rang pointed to his heart and asked:
"If you drive a car like a cow, if the car doesn't work, what if you hit a cow? If you take a taxi?"
Daoyi couldn't answer.
Then Huairang said:
"You can't sit in Zen, and you can't sit in Buddha."
As soon as Dao fell down, he bowed, and since then returned to Huai to give up his seat, and learned the Nanzong's epiphany method of "seeing the clarity of the mind, my heart is the Buddha".
Nanzong's epiphany method, the practice method of "do not establish words, teach outsiders", comes from the allusion of the Buddha "picking flowers and laughing".
One day, King Brahma asked Sakyamuni Buddha to speak on the Vulture Mountain.
King Brahma presented a golden sala flower to the Buddha.
The Buddha held flowers in his hand, but said nothing.
Everyone looked at each other in blank dismay, puzzled.Didn't you say that you should teach the Fa?
Among the disciples, only Maha Kassapa smiled.
Shakyamuni immediately declared:
"I have the Dharma eye treasury, the wonderful mind of Nirvana, the reality without form, and the subtle method. I don't write words, teach others, and give it to Venerable Kasyapa."
After Shakyamuni finished speaking, he passed on the gold-thread cassock and alms bowl that he usually used to Mahakasyapa.
This is the allusion of "nianhuayixiao" and "passing on the mantle".
Mahakasyapa is the first patriarch among the 28 patriarchs of Zen Buddhism in Xitian, and the founder of Zen Buddhism.
After hearing these stories, Yi Zun seemed to understand something.
He said: "No wonder the abbot is not taboo about meat and vegetables. It turns out that there is no relative concept of meat and vegetables in his heart. If there is no discrimination, everything is free of taboos!"
Abbot Shi Hui laughed and said:
"There is no bodhi tree,
A mirror is not a stage
There was nothing,
Where is the dust?"
The Sixth Patriarch Huineng has explained the truth very clearly, but how many people can really understand the state of "nothingness"?
The poor monk is just imitating others, and he is far from the great way!"
One said:
"Listening to your words is better than reading ten years of books. Now that everyone is full, let's go to the temple!"
Abbot Shi Hui said:
"It's already getting late. It's better to watch tomorrow morning. When the Buddha comes, we monks in Po Lin Monastery haven't held a welcome ceremony to listen to the Buddha's teachings. It's really rude!"
One smiled and said:
"Since there is nothing in the first place, why should there be such concepts as Buddha and etiquette?
You don't have to follow, and don't disturb other monks.
We looked around and then went to the Tian Tan Buddha to meditate for three days.
Just don't let anyone disturb you for these three days. "
Upon hearing this, Abbot Shi Hui proclaimed "Amitabha Buddha" quickly, and watched Yizhang and Rukia walk out of the VIP room towards the Daxiong Hall.
"Sure enough, he is a Buddha. He directly points to his heart when he speaks. He transcends the world and makes people feel a lot.
Retreat for three days? Is there a method of retreat in Buddhism? "
Immediately notify and publish the information that the Temple of Heaven Buddha will be closed for three days for maintenance on the Internet!"
Abbot Shi Hui quickly took out his cell phone.
He wants to contact the deacon to close the tour channel of the Great Buddha in the Temple of Heaven, and protect the Dharma for the Buddha's "retreat".
Many modern tools are now equipped in the temple.
Of course, monks at the junior novice level are not qualified to be equipped with mobile phones.
Yi Zun and Lucia walked into the Mahavira Hall and saw three Buddha statues enshrined inside.
This is the so-called "Three Buddhas".
That is the Eastern Medicine Buddha.
Gautama Buddha in the center.
Western Amitabha.
