#118 - The Hand's Tragedy【2】

A spinning shield struck three ninjas in the air before returning to Steve Rogers' hand.

The agents following him immediately launched webs, binding the ninjas on the ground. As they struggled, they were injected with tranquilizer darts. Using previously captured ninjas for experiments, they had specially increased the dosage to affect the ninjas' mobility. Even with the increased dosage, the ninjas could quickly recover, but the agents wouldn't give them the chance, forcibly knocking them unconscious.

"I only slept for a few decades, but I don't understand this world anymore? Where did all this come from?" Steve raised his shield in his right hand, blocking a ninja's overhead strike that suddenly appeared from the air, punching the ninja in the chest. He then pressed the ninja down with his shield, and the agents responsible for cleanup immediately provided a one-stop service.

"I don't quite understand it either," Hawkeye Clint Barton shot a ninja out of the air with an arrow, replying to the Captain not far away, "Before this, I participated in a war between humans and vampires, which was even more magical."

"Stop chatting, we need to rush into the villa and capture the Hand's leader as soon as possible. According to intelligence, they have mostly been staying at this base these days," Agent Natasha, in a tight-fitting combat suit, used her proficient close-quarters combat to dislocate a ninja's limbs before tossing him to the cleanup team, telling Steve and Clint ahead.

Steve and Clint exchanged a glance upon hearing this, then charged towards the villa.

...

Grant Ward suddenly ducked, a long sword with a chilling light flashing over his bent back. Before the ninja behind him could launch another attack, Grant sprang back up like a spring after the blade passed. He delivered a headbutt, causing the ninja behind him, who couldn't stop his forward momentum, to see stars. Then, four unreasonable gunshots rang out, severing the ninja's limbs at close range.

"See, even if you can deflect bullets from a distance, firearms are still somewhat useful to you at close range," Grant shrugged. He felt better than ever, his body filled with power. He looked at the metal bracer on his right wrist, marveling inwardly. Such an ordinary-looking bracer could give him such a huge boost in strength!

Although it wasn't as dazzling and eye-catching as Stark's Mark armor, Grant really loved the feeling of his body being full of power, his reaction greatly enhanced, reaching an inhuman level. He felt like he was omnipotent, like a superman! This feeling was intoxicating, even though he had only just started using the metal bracer. Around the villa, hundreds of carefully selected agents like him wore metal bracers. They acted as the first line of defense, blocking the ninjas' attacks, reducing a lot of trouble and casualties for the cleanup team behind.

...

Inside the villa.

"Come at me with someone stronger!" Thor roared, smashing a ninja with his hammer, sending him flying through the air, spitting blood, and sliding a long distance on the ground. This was Thor holding back a lot, afraid of accidentally killing the ninja.

In the few minutes since breaking into the villa, Thor felt like he had stumbled into a ninja den. Groups of ninjas seemed to appear out of thin air, attacking his vitals with knives. Their movements were too strange and secretive, initially causing Thor some trouble, but soon, Thor adapted to these ninjas' fighting style at an incredible speed, going from being slightly embarrassed to being completely in control.

Thor might not be good with his brain, but when it came to fighting, Thor said that ten Lokis tied together wouldn't be enough for him to hammer head-on. His combat intuition and experience honed on the battlefield, combined with his fighting talent, allowed Thor to quickly adapt to various fighting styles and deal with all types of enemies.

Well, as long as they didn't use those messy and flashy spells.

Five or six ninjas rushed up, desperately hugging Thor's arms and legs, stabbing at his muscles with small knives. However, the knife tips pierced through the clothes, deeply sinking into his skin, but encountered great resistance. The ninjas were horrified to discover that their knives were like stabbing into hard granite, requiring great force to enter even a fraction.

Thor, with five or six hangers hanging on him, shook twice in circles but couldn't shake them off. He looked up and saw another ninja throwing a handful of quicklime at his eyes.

Unethical!

If Thor knew this word, he would roar it out. But at this moment, he only felt a stinging pain in his eyes, with a lot of tears gathering in his eye sockets, making it difficult for him to see clearly.

"Despicable warriors."

Thor felt two more knives stabbing into the roots of his thighs, feeling a chill all over, and roared angrily at the ninjas' unscrupulous methods. Strong lightning intertwined around his hammer and spread throughout his body. The hangers on his body convulsed and let go under the strong lightning attack, then gradually turned into ashes and disappeared.

...

"Damn it, how can they also use the power of the Beast?" Alexandra, a high-ranking member of the Hand who had been watching the battlefield, looked gloomy. Chi, the Dragon Bone, and the Beast were the three cornerstones of the Hand. Those ninjas were specially selected and trained after careful cultivation, suitable as carriers for the Beast's power to descend! They had paid many invisible costs to master this power.

But what was going on with those S.H.I.E.L.D. agents on the other side?

A few days ago, they were helpless against their own ninjas, with nothing special except tactical literacy and combat experience. S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, who were completely at a disadvantage and passive in the face of ninja assassinations, suddenly possessed and controlled this power that was of the same origin as the ninjas after these few days of silence? Although it looked somewhat similar but not quite, Alexandra trusted her senses. Even if it was disguised, it must be related to the Beast!

Could it be that S.H.I.E.L.D. had also begun to believe in the Beast?

The Beast · S.H.I.E.L.D.?

This was too absurd! Even if those agents were elites carefully selected, it was impossible to master the power of the Beast to such a skilled level in a few days!

"The intruder who is emitting electricity is about to approach us, should we let Black Sky stop him?" Gao, another high-ranking member of the Hand, said.

"Let's retreat," Alexandra closed her eyes. S.H.I.E.L.D.'s sudden change in strength really caught them off guard. Judging from their actions, it was obviously a long-planned scheme. Most of the ninjas had their joints dislocated, making it difficult even to bite their tongues and commit suicide. Nearly half of the four hundred ninjas stationed in the villa were about to be wiped out. This was a huge loss for the Hand. After all, as an underground organization, it took a lot of time and resources to accumulate this manpower.

"Something we don't know must have happened to S.H.I.E.L.D.. How did they master the power of the Beast? Is what is appearing before us all they have?" Gao asked as she followed Alexandra out of the room. "We need to find out what happened to S.H.I.E.L.D.."
