American comics: Starting with Luke the Maker
#298 - Infinite Series: Arrival and Beginning [12]
"Seven beacon towers have been established, only the last one remains."
In the universe, Thanos arrived in Sector 2814. The Red Lantern Corps failed to bring him the emotional entity he wanted and lost contact. But everything must come to an end, and end here.
At least at the beginning of the new chapter...
...
"Can you feel it, a sense of impending crisis?" Seeing the reunited team, Wayne said softly.
"It seems I'm not the only one with this feeling." Diana replied with a serious expression. As a demigoddess, she was much stronger than mortals in all aspects, especially in perception. But this sense of crisis was stronger than ever before.
"I also felt uneasy and sensed that something bad was about to happen, so I interrupted my practice and rushed back." Clark also said. The sudden feeling of unease seriously affected his practice. But what was gratifying was that his strength had been rapidly improved in the past few months as if aided by the gods. It was incomparable to his previous strength.
"The only one who can make us all feel a sense of crisis is him, right?" Hal sighed. Even though he had been trying not to think about that powerful figure during this time, he could not avoid him.
"Thanos? He's finally here." Arthur, the Aquaman who arrived last, breathed a sigh of relief. The Sword of Damocles hanging over his head was finally about to appear and fall.
"How is your girlfriend's training going? Can she master that power?" Barry Allen, squatting in the corner, looked left and right, and quietly asked Hal, who he got along with better.
"She has always been able to master that power, you should ask, can she be unaffected by that energy?" Hal spread out his hands.
"Then can she be unaffected by the Violet Lantern energy?" Barry asked again, following his lead.
"She can control it, but it's difficult. You need to know that a woman in love is unreasonable, and a woman in love who is chosen by the Violet Lantern is even more unreasonable. Do you know what kind of difficult days I've been living these past few months? You wouldn't want to know. But things are always developing for the better, aren't they? At least now when she sees me talking to other girls, she won't lose control of her energy and strangle the girl I'm talking to." Hal looked regretful.
"What are you talking about?" Carol walked over suspiciously, looking at the two people whispering together.
"Nothing, just saying hello since we haven't seen each other for a long time." Hal squeezed out a smile and comforted her.
"Something happened!" John, who had been closing his eyes, suddenly opened them.
The instrument worn on Wayne's hand, along with the alarm of the entire base, rang, attracting everyone's attention.
"Energy radar warning? What nest did we poke?" Hearing the familiar sound, Hal blinked. He had seen Wayne and the Captain use these radars to eliminate and collect some dangerous items, but he had never seen it so chaotic, rapid, and non-stop, like thousands of light spots lighting up on the radar screen together, occupying all the screen display space.
"Watch the news." John frowned and gave a hint. Wayne immediately turned on the giant screen in the base.
On the screen, a purple face, which some of them remembered deeply, occupied half of the space.
"He controlled all the GG screens, computers, and TVs?" Wayne frowned slightly as he looked at the densely packed screens.
"I know you can see me, but what I'm about to say is not just for you." The tall face on the screen, like a purple giant, said softly.
Thanos rested his hand on the metal seat next to him, looking at the screen as if he could see Wayne and the others, and said to himself as if he was talking to them.
"I don't want to start a war, it's too cruel for you. My purpose is not to kill. Superman Clark, Batman Bruce Wayne, Green Lantern Hal Jordan, and the partners you've recruited, I only need the Violet Lantern Power Battery that contains the emotional entity, hand it over, and you can be safe.
Making an entire planet pay for your mistakes is not what you so-called heroes should do. I can wait for one day, after one day if you don't bring the emotional entity to me, I will fairly randomly kill half of the intelligent life on this planet."
As Thanos spoke, the camera switched to the boundless outer space, a densely packed fleet had surrounded their planet, and all of them had opened their ferocious muzzles, aiming at them. The densely packed cold muzzles, just looking at them, was enough to make people feel desperate fear.
"What does he want to do?" Hal looked at the screen that had returned to darkness and restored its original image, and looked at the crowd on the field with some hesitation.
"Obviously, he is dividing us." Wayne gave the answer very bluntly.
"Yes, especially since he gave us one day, it's obvious that this one day is not for us, but for some troublesome people. What's worse is that he exposed your identities. You should be talking to a lot of people soon. Can you convince them? Or will you decide to compromise?" Diana guessed Thanos's intentions and also looked at Wayne, who was making the decision.
"This is deterrence. Unsurprisingly, there will be chaos soon, and all kinds of pressure that comes with it. But handing over the emotional entity is equivalent to handing over the key to the house." Wayne said.
"So, you plan to fight on?" Diana asked again.
"I can feel the other party's coldness! His heart is as hard as a stone, that is a terrible person, I don't think we can trust his words. Rather than letting us go, I believe he will kill half of our population." John Jones grunted, blood flowing from his nostrils, with shock on his face.
"Is this the hostage dilemma? He is using the entire planet's humans as hostages." Barry raised his hand.
"If we decide to fight, we have to be prepared. We can't fight him on Earth." Clark folded his arms, and the immense power filling his body gave him some confidence and confidence.
"If we fight, that fleet..."
"Leave that fleet to us, we will protect this planet and let that fleet be completely destroyed and become space drifting garbage." The Green Lantern Corps, who had not spoken, stood up. In terms of hatred, they were the people here who hated Thanos the most. Everything they had, their careers, partners, and beliefs, had been completely destroyed by Thanos. Considering the hatred in their hearts for Thanos, it was already a miracle that some of them had not been inspired by the Red Lantern and changed from Green Lanterns to Red Lanterns.
"It seems you are determined to collide with him." Captain, who was like an outsider, opened his mouth with complicated emotions. His identity made him very awkward here. If possible, he didn't want Wayne and the others to conflict with Thanos. He had persuaded Wayne many times, but obviously, Bruce was someone who was difficult to change his mind once he decided on something.
What was especially terrible was that the other party had the execution ability and resources to support his goals.
"We can't escape, can we? If we want autonomy, we must first fight. Rather than waiting for the future when we can't resist, it's better to get rid of that Luke once and for all now." Wayne said in a deep voice.
"What is your choice? Captain?" Hal looked at Steve nervously. He respected the Captain's character very much, and the other party had given him and the remaining Green Lanterns a lot of help. He was a little afraid that the Captain would choose to stand on the opposite side of them.
"I will stand with you, but that doesn't prevent me from thinking that you won't win this so-called war." Steve Rogers, who knew Luke very well, gave his answer. He trusted Luke too much, even if they won the victory against Thanos, it was difficult to say that Luke had no backup plan. Besides, to be honest, he really wanted to go home.
Standing on Wayne's side was only because his morality was at work, and his distrust of Thanos.
"We will prove it to you, you have to believe in the power of miracles." Barry Allen replied a little strangely.
"Get ready, someone has already come to the door. I need to socialize a bit." Wayne looked at his communication watch, clicked on it a few times, and said.
Those people's actions were faster and more efficient than he imagined. If this action was put on rectifying Gotham and combating criminals, Gotham probably wouldn't need him to save it, and it would have been completely renewed long ago.
...
"Master, Lex Luthor of LexCorp is here to visit."
Just as Wayne sent away a group of official figures, the old butler Alfred brought three more people without interval. One of them made Wayne's body tense up instantly.
"You know each other, but don't be nervous. He's my man now." Lex Luthor sensed Wayne's sharp gaze, glanced sideways at the expressionless Sinestro, and smiled at Wayne.
"I thought you were caught up by Thanos." Wayne looked at Sinestro and said.
"Although it's embarrassing to say, his goal has never been me from beginning to end. He doesn't have me in his eyes." Sinestro said coldly: "Having obtained Parallax, he no longer cares whether I live or die."
"Time is tight, we can wait until later for the greeting. I'm here this time to join your team." Luthor interrupted the conversation between the two and forcefully took back the dominance of the exchange.
"I thought you were like those people, here to inquire about information and persuade me to hand over things to them." Wayne pointed to the door. A group of people had just been sent away there.
"That's a bunch of hyenas who bully the weak and fear the strong. Can handing over things get the results you want? I never thought so. I never thought we would lose to those strange aliens." Luthor curled his lips contemptuously.
"The enemy is very powerful."
"We are also very powerful. You plus me, is enough to cope with this crisis. Maybe we can really become the heroes of this planet in the end?" Luthor sat down opposite Wayne and said softly.
"What power do you have?" Wayne said, looking at Sinestro.
"No, not him. He's just a helper of mine. I know he was defeated by Thanos, and I wouldn't expect that bringing him to join you would be able to fight against Thanos. Allow me to introduce to you, my most proud ultimate weapon, a biological weapon made from the corpses of General Zod and other Kryptonians - Doomsday."
Luthor waved his fingers, indicating that his trump card was not Sinestro, but the person who came with Sinestro, who had been silent until now, covered in a black cloak.
"You haven't joined us yet, and you've already offended Clark." Wayne frowned slightly as he watched the biological weapon grab his cloak and reveal a terrifying face. He was shocked by Luthor's boldness and technology, but this would undoubtedly bring Superman's dissatisfaction. Regardless of whether General Zod and the others were villains and enemies, they were Clark's last relatives. Their corpses were used for research, and they appeared in front of him in the form of weapons, his mood might not be too pleasant.
"General Zod is an invader, isn't he? Just like Thanos. I believe he will understand the overall situation." Luthor didn't care. If possible, he would prefer to use Superman for experiments, but there was no chance.
If it wasn't for Thanos, Doomsday's first opponent should be Superman Clark.
"I need to discuss it with them. But the result doesn't prevent you from participating in this battlefield." Wayne's eyes flickered, and he stood up.
"Then I understand." Luthor smiled.
...
Night.
Green lights soared into the sky, and the Justice League team shot into the sky in a flying machine made by Hal using Green Lantern energy. Their actions undoubtedly stimulated some people, causing them to retreat to underground bases while cursing.
"Courage is commendable. Just like another group of people." Thanos, who had the entire planet under his surveillance, discovered Wayne and the others' arrival immediately. He could not perceive any low emotions from the perception of emotions, but rather a sense of determination to die.
Not a negotiation, but a declaration of war.
Thanos rested his arm on the armrest of the chair, propping up his cheeks, his eyes deep. He just quietly watched those Green Lantern envoys who rushed out of the atmosphere rush into the fleet he recruited and wreak havoc, watching them break through layers of obstacles and head towards his flagship.
"Thanos!"
A figure broke through the deck and appeared in front of Thanos. Then there was the second, the third, more and more figures.
"You have chosen the worst choice, countless people will die because of your actions." Thanos waved his hand to stop the guards around him, and said in a low voice to Superman and others who broke in.
"It's not necessarily a bad choice." Superman opened his mouth, and then two hot rays shot at Thanos, firing the first shot of the battle.
PS: Thanks to Silent Peak for the reward.
PS: I'm reading a book about academic masters, from university lecturers to chief academicians. It's a similar book that I found a long time ago when I was reading Morningstar's book about academic masters, and it's always been on the bookshelf.
