Chapter 104 - Extremely Popular Diamond

Lin Feng was surprised when he saw who had come down the stairs. He didn’t expect to run into an acquaintance in Tianlong base. The acquaintance was Tang Gong, the manager of the Grand Auction House in Nanshan base. 

Even more surprised was Tang Gong himself who didn’t expect to see Lin Feng again after only a few days, and in a different base no less. 

When Tang Gong first saw Lin Feng he was surprised, but he quickly grew a grin and made his way across the hall in a few joyful leaps. 

“Aiya, brother Lin, I didn’t expect to see you here. Ever since you left, this bro has been missing you, Ah. Come come come, let’s hurry on upstairs.”

Tang Gong grabbed Lin Feng by the arm and rushed him to the second floor of the Grand Auction House. 

The layout of the second floor was similar to the one in the Grand Auction House that Lin Feng had seen in Nanshan base. It had large sofas placed with a large tea table in the center with bookshelves and rare books displayed along the walls. 

“Brother Lin, you came at the perfect time. Just yesterday I received a top grade oolong tea from this year’s harvest. It is the specialty of Tianqi base that is transported via helicopter of which this bro was able to obtain an entire two leaves of. I wasn’t willing to use them up before, but now that you are here, let’s have some.”

Tang Gong spoke enthusiastically to Lin Feng as he sat down on the sofa. 

Tang Gong was excited because of the event regarding Lin Feng. You wouldn’t expect that only a few days ago that Tang Gong was calling Lin Feng mister and was now calling him brother as if their sentiments towards one another had increased by a fold. It was important to remember that Lin Feng had only met this Tang Gong once before, what kind of place did they have to talk so closely regarding each other. 

“Wasn’t Tang Bro in Nanshan base, how were you able to get to Tianlong base so quickly?”

The other person was so enthusiastic and Lin Feng was bad at putting on airs and directly called the other Tang Bro, but he was still curious as to why Tang Gong was here instead of at the other store in Nanshan base. 

“Bro Lin doesn’t know but this is all because of you, you made this bro come here.”

Tang Gong spoke with a smile as he slowly poured water into a teacup. 

The quality of the tea leaves that Tang Gong had obtained were truly good and after only a single washing the tea leaves were spreading an incredible fragrance. The quality of the tea leaves of the apocalypse and of the previous world were about the same, they had similar fragrance. 

“Oh? This has to do with me?”

Lin Feng was puzzled as he picked up the teacup on the table. 

Lin Feng had pulled out two diamond rings in Nanshan base and had sold them in the Grand Auction Hall there. Lin Feng had no idea what this had to do with Tianlong base. 

“This matter is a long and complicated one and is all due to the two diamond rings that you brought me before.”

Tang Gong started to explain after taking a sip of his tea. 

Originally Tang Gong had reported the matter to the headquarters after being sold the two diamond rings by Lin Feng. After the appraisal it was determined that these diamonds were truly unequalled in this world. Moreover, since these were diamonds their value was already incredibly high. 

Going through an auction in the Grand Auction Hall HQ, the two diamond rings were bought for five hundred thousand white crystals by a base leader of an even larger city. 

The auction itself was very intense and many base leaders wanted to claim this pair of diamond rings for themselves. The desire was so much so that there were nearly a dozen base leaders that had stood up from their seats in competition for the rings. 

Even after the auction there were many people that inquired the auction house whether or not there was anything similar to the pair of diamond rings. Regardless of the amount it would cost, these people wanted to obtain it. Whether it was to wear themselves or to gift to others, the diamond ring was a symbol of luxury, something that the rich would try to obtain at any cost. 

The diamond rings were so popular that it shocked even the auction house. And the person that had obtained the diamond rings, Tang Gong, was now an incredibly favored person by the Grand Auction Hall. Therefore the Grand Auction House HQ bypassed protocol and directly promoted him. From the manager of a smaller auction house in a medium sized base of a few hundred thousand people, Tang Gong was promoted to the manager of the large scale auction house in Tianlong base that catered to a million people. 

All of this was due to the two diamond rings that came from Lin Feng. Seeing Lin Feng here was akin to seeing a deity of wealth to Tang Gong. Performing in this manner was in the hopes of convincing Lin Feng to become a supplier. As long as Lin Feng still had diamond rings in his possession, Tang Gong was prepared to treat Lin Feng like his own father until he had achieved his goal. 

“It seems like the diamond rings were well received.”

Lin Feng grinned secretly when he heard Tang Gong’s explanation. He didn’t expect that an item that was so valuable in the previous world would become so much more valuable in the apocalypse. 

But this was a good thing for Lin Feng as he had a lot of jewelry. There was a lot of it, but could it be eaten? It wasn’t a bad thing to sell the rings for a high price. 

Moreover, Tang Gong explained that the owner of the Grand Auction Hall was insistent on the protection of privacy and very good at keeping information confidential. Besides those that were involved, no one would know where the ring came from or who brought it. 

Regarding the confidentiality, Lin Feng was skeptical. Of course, normally the Grand Auction Hall wouldn’t disclose the information of its patrons and suppliers, especially since Lin Feng was the only one able to supply the rings. If they offended Lin Feng with their words or actions they could only accept that he might not sell to the Grand Auction Hall. This was something the Grand Auction Hall couldn’t do because they needed to maintain good relationships in order to continue making money. 

But having too much was also a bad thing. If Lin Feng produced too many good things, no one could guarantee that the Grand Auction Hall wouldn’t try to take all of it from Lin Feng directly. 

“Is it not true, brother, the headquarters told me that if I saw you once again that I should treat you as well as I could. The previous auction was for an entire five hundred thousand white crystals, of which you received too little at only two hundred thousand. The headquarters decided that it was only right to give you another hundred thousand to make up for the previous mistake.”

Tang Gong spoke as he set down the teacup on the table. 

Lin Feng was surprised, he didn’t expect to receive another hundred thousand crystals. 

But on a second thought, Lin Feng realized that this made sense. This was like taking care of one’s own people, Ah. According to common sense, no matter how much the auction house had made, it already was unrelated to Lin Feng. But now that they were telling him exactly how much they had made and reimbursing the difference, Lin Feng could tell that the auction house was being earnest in their intentions. The Grand Auction Hall wanted to use this money as a token of sincerity in order to win over Lin Feng. 

“Brother, this is a special platinum medal made and controlled by the headquarters. They custom made this medal just for you.”

Tang Gong took out a silvery medal from his apocalypse watch and handed it to Lin Feng. 

The platinum member, a rank higher than the gold member. According to Tang Gong, there were no more than a hundred individuals in the entire country that held this medal. The platinum medal was a symbol of absolute supreme status throughout all of the Grand Auction Halls in the country. 

“If that’s the case, I will receive it. And diamond rings, I guess I have a few more here for you.”

Seeing the incredible sincerity of the other party, Lin Feng couldn’t put on an act. Lin Feng thought about how he needed some money and spoke to Tang Gong after deciding what he was going to do.
