Bringing the Supermarket to the Apocalypse

Chapter 105 - Investigation

There was a reason as to why Lin Feng decided to trust Tang Gong. Primarily the reason was that he needed a tremendous amount of money. Disregarding the cost of opening a supermarket in the apocalypse, Lin Feng’s primary objective was to increase his cultivation. 

Besides being able to absorb the energy contained in the crystals, Lin Feng was also use the supermarket exchange system to obtain items that could increase his strength. The bloodline lineage was one example of something from the exchange system, but the exchange system shouldn’t be limited to just bloodline lineages. Lin Feng believed that if he upgraded the exchange system that there would definitely be more items that he could purchase. These items that would appear would absolutely be more formidable than what was currently available. 

The only requirement to obtain the abilities was having massive amounts of money. Even the most basic bloodline lineage, the demonic wolf bloodline, cost twenty thousand crystals and the upgrade from basic to intermediate cost an astounding hundred thousand crystals. To Lin Feng this was undoubtedly a huge expense. Let alone Lin Feng, few could afford to spend so many crystals in the apocalypse. 

But the exchange system was only level one and still needed such huge quantities of money to purchase abilities from. If the system was leveled up it would probably require astronomical amounts of money. 

The second reason Lin Feng decided to trust Tang Gong was that previously in the Grand Auction Hall in Nanshan base, Lin Feng had taken out two unparalleled diamond rings. If Lin Feng said that he didn’t have any more rings, no one would believe him. 

Since the Grand Auction Hall had been so sincere in its intentions, it wouldn’t be reasonable to not reciprocate their gesture. After all, Lin Feng’s strength was still too low. He didn’t want to offend a large power like the Grand Auction Hall right now. 

“Oh? Does bro still have some diamond rings on hand?”

Tang Gong became incredibly excited when he heard Lin Feng’s words. 

Tang Gong could still vividly recall the commotion that the two diamond rings had caused in the headquarters. Tang Gong thought that it was enough to just mention the diamond rings to Lin Feng so that he became aware of the situation and opportunity. He never expected that Lin Feng would confess to having even more diamond rings with him. 

Before in the Grand Auction Hall in Nanshan base, Tang Gong always thought that Lin Feng was a member of a powerful family that had some valuable items like the diamond rings. Tang Gong was thinking that he would try to win over Lin Feng who would then return home and bring a few more diamond rings. In the even Lin Feng needed help to make it home, Tang Gong was fully prepared to do all he could to mobilize support from the headquarters to assist Lin Feng. 

Instead of replying to Tang Gong, Lin Feng instead slowly lifted his cup of tea and gently took a sip. 

“Aiya brother, don’t keep me in suspense. Can’t you see that you’re going to make this bro die of anxiety? Does brother have a diamond rings, quickly tell.”

Seeing Lin Feng’s unhurried and unconcerned appearance, Tang Gong felt incredible anxiety and couldn’t help but urge Lin Feng to speak. 

Right now Lin Feng’s diamond rings determined Tang Gong’s future. When the auction at the headquarters ended, the incredible auction was credited to Tang Gong and gave him an enormous amount of recognition. So much recognition that the vice-chairman hinted to Tang Gong that if he procured this quality of diamond rings again that Tang Gong could become the chief manager of all the Grand Auction Halls in Tianqi City.

Maybe if he was lucky, Tang Gong could achieve this position after ten years of effort. Now that he had been presented with this opportunity, how couldn’t Tang Gong take care to firmly grasp it. 

Except for the bases that were too small to open a branch in, the Grand Auction Hall had thirty branch store in Tianqi City’s hundred plus bases. If Tang Gong could become the sales manager of Tianqi Base*, it would be equivalent to managing all thirty stores in Tianqi city. Becoming the manager of an entire city, how could Tang Gong not be excited?

Lin Feng was not in a rush to reply, and was instead watching Tang Gong’s expression. Lin Feng wanted to know what benefits the diamond rings would bring to Tang Gong, and in return what benefits he would receive from Tang Gong. 

Lin Feng could tell from Tang Gong’s expression that the Grand Auction Hall had placed great importance on the diamond rings. Considering Tang Gong’s age and position as a Grand Auction Hall manager he shouldn’t be this excited over a few diamond rings. 

But even since they saw each other, Tang Gong was very courteous and polite. And when he mentioned diamond rings, Tang Gong became incredibly excited and attentive to Lin Feng. Adding all these up together, Tang Gong stood to gain a lot from Lin Feng’s diamond rings. With this understanding, Lin Feng wasn’t in a rush to sell the rings. 

“Brother Tang, how many diamond rings do you think would be appropriate?”

Lin Feng didn’t pull out the diamond rings, but instead asked Tang Gong how many he thought would be a good number. 

Commodities sometimes suffered from overstocking, like some luxury goods, having fewer of them could increase their value and make others desire them more. But if there were too many and it was too easy to obtain, it would instead make people not want to but them anymore. Tang Gong was a manager of an auction hall and would surely have a greater experience in business than Lin Feng. 

“Of course the more the better. Our Grand Auction Hall has stores all over the country. Therefore, no matter how many diamond rings you have, we can process them properly. This is something that Brother Lin doesn’t need to be concerned about.”

Tang Gong felt immense excitement at Lin Feng’s words. 

Tang Gong was prepared to hear that Lin Feng didn’t have anymore diamond rings, and even if he did, there wouldn’t be many. But hearing Lin Feng ask how many he should take out to the point where the quantity shouldn’t be small, how couldn’t Tang Gong be excited. 

The Grand Auction Hall had uncountable branches all over the country, even if there were a lot of diamond rings, sending them to the branches across the country, there would be no issue of selling them. In the apocalypse there were still numerous wealthy people, and these people wouldn’t hold back their wealth when it came to quality luxury goods. 

Quality valuables were considered symbols of power and wealth. This was true before the apocalypse and this was true during the apocalypse. Everywhere the situation was the same.  The smell of meat and wine spread from the homes of the rich as the streets are littered with the cold bones of those who die of hunger.* 

“Since that’s the case, I will trouble brother Tang to take a look at these and tell me how much they are worth.”

Lin Feng nodded in response to Tang Gong’s reassurance and put down the teacup in his hand. 

Tang Gong was eagerly listening to Lin Feng and watching him while anticipating the appearance of the diamond rings.

Without saying a word, Lin Feng took a fist sized box from his apocalypse watch and set it down on the table.
