Game of Thrones: I Created the Magic Web

#197 - Wreath and crown of thorns

Chapter 197: Thorns, Wreaths, and Crowns

Blooming golden roses.

Joffrey admired the scenery along the way, his body rising and falling in comfort with the white horse beneath him.

Garlan Tyrell and Leo Tyrell accompanied him on either side.

One was his messenger, a collateral member of the Tyrell family, the son of the commander of the Oldtown garrison, and Maester Leo of King's Landing.

The other was the second son of Highgarden, "Gallant" Garlan, an excellent knight.

Garlan was undoubtedly a golden rose.

During the not-so-long journey, Garlan Tyrell, who looked like an older version of Loras, greeted the King with courtesy and restraint, his words concise and accurately expressing his meaning.

In Garlan's description, the "Queen of Thorns," Lady Olenna's sudden arrangement seemed to be a whim, the capriciousness of an old woman.

Joffrey generously stated that he didn't mind and enthusiastically waved to the grand honor guard.

Maester Leo could only be considered half a golden rose.

All the way.

Although Leo didn't speak, he reported all the information he knew to Joffrey through the Grace Aura, without any omissions or concealment.

He had no choice but to do so.

Having done some research with Archmaester Marwyn, Leo now had a very clear understanding of the mystery and power of magic, and he also understood the terrifying power of the Grace Core on his body.

There were no secrets from the eyes of the King and the Security Bureau.

Whether out of awe of power, a desire for truth, or simply for the sake of his family, Leo had no reason to hide anything.

Therefore, Joffrey reviewed the extensive information about Highgarden again, even though most of the information had already been reviewed more than once, except for a few new changes.

Highgarden was now completely exposed.

For example, in these days, Margaery led a group of female companions to play and frolic all day long, and her reaction to war and marriage was extremely dull.

Lady Alysanne Bulwer, only seven years old, was one of Margaery's companions and now lives in Highgarden. Her mother, Victoria Tyrell, rules Blackcrown for her.

Garth Tyrell, the steward of Highgarden, was the uncle of Duke Mace Tyrell. He was known as "Garth the Gross."

His two bastards, Gyles and Garrett, both lived in Highgarden, and their private lives were chaotic.

Willas, the heir to Highgarden, seemed more like an ascetic scholar. Lame, he devoted himself to academics, was intelligent and wise, and was very worried about Highgarden's situation.

Maester Lomys, who served Highgarden, had no surname, but was actually a bastard of the Hightower family. Although he had no right of inheritance and was not recognized, his life in the Citadel in Oldtown in his early years obviously had a profound impact on him.

The Tyrell family's fool, Butterbumps, was the favorite of the "Queen of Thorns."

Whenever there were secret and critical talks, Lady Olenna Redwyne would always have "Butterbumps" present, humming songs loudly to cover up the content of the conversation.

Joffrey knew that she was avoiding the spiders in the Highgarden garden.

But the Royal Family no longer needed these petty tricks. Varys's and Littlefinger's spies were either abandoned and hidden, or dealt with, or brought back to arrange more useful responsibilities.

The remaining spiders in the Highgarden garden were the ones who were abandoned.

After all, the news that spiders could hear was far less than a simple operation by the Security Bureau, and it was easier to expose themselves, causing vigilance and hostility.

In addition.

It was obviously not realistic to painstakingly allow the spiders far away in Highgarden to crawl back to King's Landing, while also evading the eyes and threats of the Tyrell family.

So I had to give up.

But now, at this moment, they can be reactivated.

Joffrey looked straight ahead.

The gates of Highgarden were wide open, the outlines were clear, and the faces of the crowd on both sides gradually became clear.

Until he could smell the perfume.

He raised his hand.

The entire Imperial Guard behind him stopped instantly.

The honor guard, covering the mountains and plains, slowly crowded over, with drums and horns constantly sounding, seemingly demonstrating, seemingly celebrating.

"Everyone, dispense with the formalities," Joffrey dismounted.

Standing in front of him was the head of Highgarden, the "Queen of Thorns," Olenna Redwyne.

Joffrey smiled and cast his gaze over.

The old woman had a head of silver hair, was short in stature, and the hands holding her cane were deeply sunken into the top of the cane, seemingly soft and without bone support, with thin fingers and mostly knuckles.

Two tall guards with extremely similar appearances supported and guarded her on both sides. Olenna Redwyne called them her "Left Hand" and "Right Hand."

But she now shook off her Left Hand and Right Hand.

"Your Majesty, it is an honor for Highgarden to receive a benevolent monarch like you."

She opened her toothless mouth, and the breath she exhaled was filled with the sour and rotten smell unique to old women.

Joffrey quietly moved back, "Lady Olenna, you flatter me."

Lady Olenna Redwyne seemed oblivious, "Also, please forgive this old woman's ignorance, is the war over? Is Renly dead? Is no one fighting you for that throne anymore?"

What a sharp-tongued "Queen of Thorns"!

Joffrey chuckled, "The war is not over yet, we have only recovered Storm's End, Cape Wrath, the Dornish Marches, and the coastal territories, not worth mentioning, not worth mentioning."

"But it's only a matter of days."

He smiled, "Renly is about to approach Storm's End with an army of 50,000, and a clean and decisive battle will bring peace to the Seven Kingdoms."

Loras and several Tyrells gathered around.

Joffrey glanced at Loras, "But after all, he is my uncle, and I can't bear the curse of kinslaying. Lady Olenna, I'm afraid you won't see the day Uncle Renly dies."

The "Queen of Thorns" snorted, "Not necessarily. The Wall is so cold, how can a delicate person like Renly bear it?"

Loras was saddened.

Joffrey changed the subject, "Please rest assured, I will also pay attention to protecting the life of Duke Mace, as long as he does not recklessly and bravely devote himself to Uncle Renly at the moment of the decisive battle."

The "Queen of Thorns" did not hesitate, "Please rest assured on this point as well, my son won't."

"Mother," Lady Alerie Hightower couldn't help but plead for her husband. She had long silver hair, a dignified posture, and looked to be in her thirties.

"Shut up," Lady Olenna was still ruthless to her daughter-in-law.

"I was just saying some facts about my son, and I don't need you to be a good person. Do you want Highgarden to lie in front of His Majesty?"

"Don't be like that, Grandmother," Margaery walked over gracefully.

"His Majesty has come from afar, probably not to discuss how brave Father is with you, right."

She smiled sweetly at Joffrey, "Your Majesty, I have picked the most beautiful golden roses in Highgarden to make a wreath for you, please don't refuse."

She held out a golden wreath, her eyes full of anticipation.

The girl was wearing light green brocade, and the tight-fitting bodice set off her shapely figure. Her soft brown hair was scattered over her white shoulders, making people really want to pounce on her and take a bite.

Especially those doe-like brown eyes, which were particularly playful and lovely.

Joffrey smiled brightly.

"My dear Miss Margaery, I also have a gift for you."

"A queen's crown."

Joffrey conjured a golden crown. The ornamentation was thorns and branches, and a pair of lions and stags were pressing down on a golden rose.
