Green Monster Epic

#18 - destruction

Chapter 18: Annihilation

The gnoll priest was intercepted by Allen and Regis. As Regis had said, this being, infused with divine power by the Gnoll King and transformed into a monster, did not possess true strength matching its ferocious and terrifying appearance.

After exchanging a few head-on blows, Allen finally felt relieved. The only thing to worry about were the opponent's strange and varied divine spells.

"Boom!"

Unable to gain an advantage in close combat, the monster chanted in gnoll language, and its entire body surged with red light. The 3rd-tier divine spell, Fire of Sacrifice, covered its body.

Allen, who had just taken advantage of the monster's spellcasting to rush in for an advantage, was immediately caught by the sudden burst of flames.

A violent burning sensation from the heart and soul almost disarmed him on the spot, causing him to lose his fighting ability.

"What the hell is this?!"

Allen exclaimed in terror.

"This is the Fire of Sacrifice, directly burning the soul. You need to stimulate your rage to defend your whole body."

Regis, hearing Allen's scream, adjusted his posture and offered advice.

"Rage? What's that?"

Allen dodged the monster's attacks in a panic, while casting a puzzled glance at Regis.

"Haven't you used rage before?"

Regis replied angrily. He was utterly fed up with these wilderness natives.

When it came to fighting, they mostly relied on instinct and lacked even the most basic common sense.

However, because of their innate talent and qualities, they could naturally become powerful warriors upon reaching adulthood.

Humans, on the other hand, had to work much harder to become powerful warriors. Heaven was truly unfair!

"It's the skill you used before to suddenly unleash powerful strength. We human warriors call that rage."

Although he resented the other's ignorance, Regis needed Allen's powerful assistance to deal with the gnoll priest, who was at least level 10.

"Oh, so that's called rage."

Allen finally understood.

"But let me state in advance that my skill won't last too long. If we can't defeat the opponent during this burst period, I won't be able to do anything."

"It should be enough for us to kill the opponent."

Regis had been probing the opponent's bottom line and now had a plan to kill it.

After being enhanced by divine power, the monster's physical strength became increasingly powerful, but its intelligence seemed to have deteriorated.

It relied purely on instinct during combat and lacked any tactics, allowing Allen and Regis to restrain it without using any skills at first.

Each strike from the gnoll monster was powerful and heavy, and the sound of the wind it generated made Allen's cheeks ache.

Each slam on the ground created a large pit, and the splashing gravel became Allen and Regis' biggest enemy.

The monster's gigantic body, on the other hand, seemed clumsy when using its physical strength because it was not a warrior.

It seemed unable to adapt to the suddenly acquired enormous power.

Occasionally, the monster would mutter in gnoll language, casting miraculous divine spells to heal itself or strike Allen and Regis with magical power.

However, Allen and Regis were focused on dodging the opponent's attacks, and the opponent's intelligence had been severely eroded, causing its accuracy to plummet.

As a result, many divine spells dissipated on the empty ground.

Soon, the opponent found it increasingly difficult to cast spells, and the Fire of Sacrifice enveloping its body gradually dimmed.

It seemed that the strength it had been forcibly elevated to did not help much with spellcasting.

"Pay attention and cooperate with me!"

At the moment the Fire of Sacrifice's duration expired, Regis suddenly took out a parchment scroll, opened it, and threw it at the monster.

After the scroll flashed with white light, a giant spider web appeared out of nowhere, enveloping most of the monster's body.

Then, Regis threw out another scroll, which released a greasy black liquid instead of a fireball, covering the spider web.

It was a 1st-tier scroll, Grease, that Regis had collected himself.

Finally, Regis threw out the Fireball scroll that Feli had given him.

When the orange-red fireball, as large as a human head, slammed directly into the monster, which was mostly trapped by the spider web and unable to move, the fireball not only inflicted heavy damage on the monster, but also ignited the black oil produced by the Grease spell and the spider web enveloping it.

The two highly flammable substances instantly turned the monster into a burning man.

The sizzling smell of roasting meat quickly covered the square, accompanied by the monster's violent screams of pain.

"Now's the time, attack!"

In fact, without Regis' reminder, Allen had already seized this great opportunity.

He leaped high into the air, and the 40-pound steel axe was raised above his head.

As he fell naturally, he swung it down with both hands towards the opponent's neck.

At the same time, Regis, standing opposite Allen, swung his greatsword in perfect coordination, pouring all his strength into a single, unreserved strike, also aiming for the monster's neck.

"Crack!"

No matter how tough the monster's thick neck was, it could not withstand the combined attack of a level 7 warrior/level 2 berserker and an equally powerful teammate.

The two weapons crossed like a pair of scissors, forcibly separating the giant monster's head from its body.

The monster, which had been struggling violently because its entire body was burning, could be said to have been rescued.

Its burning body no longer had to endure torment and slowly collapsed.

"Phew!"

As the opponent fell, Allen collapsed limply on the square, as if dehydrated, without any regard for his image.

His blank mind had gained too much knowledge today and had suffered a great shock, requiring a good digestion.

Regis, who had just killed the strongest enemy, did not relax like Allen. While his physical strength could still hold on, he turned around and ran to help his fighting teammates.

The battle on the square finally came to an end.

The gnolls' biggest trump card had been defeated, and the mysterious will on the Gnoll King's statue seemed to have given up on this tribe of believers without a carrier.

Its aura gradually faded, and the other gnolls who were still stubbornly resisting lost their fighting spirit and were killed one by one by the combined team of human warriors and hobgoblins.

The sounds of fighting in the village gradually subsided.

"Chief Allen, you must remember what you promised us. For your war, our trade caravan has spent two more scrolls!!"

Feli, escorted by two shield warriors, ran to Allen with a pitiful look, immediately beginning to complain.

"I really want to thank Supervisor Feli this time. Without your two scrolls, we really don't know what price we would have had to pay to kill this monster!"

Allen's gratitude was genuine this time.

It was the first time he had witnessed the magical power of spells and divine arts, and everything seemed so incredible to Allen, who had grown up in the Green Field Tribe and was ignorant.

Even without Feli's explanation, Allen felt that those scrolls that could cast magical spells were definitely very valuable, so he sincerely wanted to repay the other party's contribution.

After all, compared to other external things, the territory gained after completely eradicating the Bonefire Tribe would bring about the impact on the Green Field Tribe from top to bottom.

Allen felt that it was worth paying any price.

"After we thoroughly clean up the camp, we'll have a good time distributing today's spoils together."

Allen looked at the scattered battle scenes with great joy, as well as the more timid slaves being held by the hobgoblins and human warriors, and positively responded to Feli's request.
