Green Monster Epic

After staying in Thornsburg for a while, Alan even began to dislike the environment where his tribe lived and was unwilling to return. Of course, it would be even better if the elves in the city could be more friendly to them.
According to Regis and Philly, the elves were a proud race, but their pride was a completely different feeling when facing humans and hobgoblins.
Alan had seen elves interacting with humans. Although they were equally indifferent, at least when they really communicated with Regis or Philly, they could still complete a normal conversation; but when Alan eagerly approached the elves to strike up a conversation, all he could get was a cold back of the head, as if every elf was unwilling to say a word to a hobgoblin.
After being rebuffed several times, Alan gave up the idea of trying to build a relationship with the elves and spent his days with ten hobgoblins in a simple common room, tasting various elven foods that he asked Regis to buy.
"This, this, delicious!"
Big Mountain, missing half an ear, held a wooden bowl in his hand. In the bowl was a creamy mushroom soup. The delicious mushrooms were stewed until they were mushy, turning into particles floating in the white cream soup, smearing around Big Mountain's big mouth, which was very amusing.
"Mmm, this is also delicious."
Black Head, named for his dark skin, was also holding a green fish roasted with honey as a seasoning. He wasn't afraid of fish bones getting stuck in his throat as he devoured it and commented.
Saying it was a comment, in reality, for a group of hobgoblins, every food in the Elven Kingdom was a delicious treat they dreamed of. It was impossible for Alan to hope to get information from them. Of course, he wasn't without gains. After taking a group of hobgoblins out for a walk, he realized that the hobgoblins themselves were not unintelligent. Now, after being in contact with humans for nearly a month, their clumsy common language had greatly improved, no longer as difficult to communicate with as before.
The reason, Alan believed, was that the closed environment around Green Lake made the tribesmen worry about food every day, but they lacked communication, which eventually made even talking a boring thing. Drawing lessons from this, Alan had already planned in his heart that after returning to the tribe, he must change these bad habits of the tribesmen and let them communicate more.
Alan originally planned to communicate with the tribesmen to see if he should buy more uncommon and delicious foods from the wilderness when purchasing grain this time. But after seeing the tribesmen's relish, he gave up this unnecessary communication and decided to take charge of everything himself.
Manager Philly was recently busy selling the goods he brought from the Rose Duchy and had no time to take care of Alan. Regis, on the other hand, was touring Thornsburg with his team, looking for equipment to strengthen the squad's strength and seeing if he could hook up with a few elves who were curious about the outside world to join their team.
Of course, Alan once again hired Regis with silver coins to help him inquire about the information of the temples in Thornsburg. He needed to truly understand his own strength and the strength of the ten tribesmen he brought, so that he could truly give his tribe a position.
"If it's delicious, eat more. It's rare to bring you out, so these are considered rewards for everyone."
Although the tribesmen seemed a bit stupid, they also had some advantages, that is, although they admired the colorful life outside, they were not dazzled by it. They still maintained their awe of Alan and occasionally mentioned the good of the Green Field Tribe. As for what was good about the tribe, Alan couldn't think of anything after thinking about it. Of course, the tribesmen's stupidity also had other benefits, that is, Alan didn't need to spend too much to appease these stupid and lazy guys.
"Thank you, Chieftain!"
"Chieftain is mighty!"
The hobgoblins also began to learn the flattery skills of human partners, knowing how to say good things to Alan.
"But everyone, it's best to stay in the inn these days and don't go out and cause trouble for me. If you go out and cause trouble, I'll use your heads as chamber pots!"
Alan habitually issued threatening words to knock on these guys, although he knew that as long as these guys were fed and full, they would mostly lie on the straw mats and sleep soundly and be too lazy to move.
"Don't worry, Chieftain, we will never go out, as long as you give us 3 more, no, 5 more honey-roasted green fish, we will stay in the room all day!"
Big Mountain had already begun to understand how to bargain, looking at Alan with stars in his eyes. The other tribesmen also put down their food at the same time, looking forward to Alan's reply.
"...You are really a bunch of gluttons!!!"
Alan was helpless and finally gave in: "Okay, I'll have someone send you 5 more roasted green fish in a while!!"
"Woo hoo!!"
The tribesmen screamed excitedly one by one, causing the guests next door to complain: "Shut up, it's so noisy!!"
"Are you going to let people rest?"
"Sorry, sorry!!"
Through the wooden wall, Alan apologized cautiously, while waving his hand to silence the tribesmen.
After settling the tribesmen, Alan was relieved to walk out of the inn and walk alone on the unfamiliar street, while not forgetting to carefully make marks and memorize the route, so as to avoid the problem of getting lost.
When Regis came back last night, he had already helped Alan inquire clearly. There were 15 gods' temples in Thornsburg, among which 4 gods were willing to accept alien races as believers: the Father of the Oak of the Nature Temple, the God of War Karegos, and the Goddess of Wealth Waukeen.
After all, the Elven God system has always been marked by conservatism. There are not many believers of gods who can allow other God systems to spread their faith in the kingdom. As a war fortress-based Thornsburg, there are even fewer other unrelated God temples built in it, far less tolerant of the spread of faith by alien God believers than human society. However, this was good news for Alan. When he communicated with Regis, he was worried about choosing the wrong one because he was not familiar with the power and abilities of the gods. Now it seemed that he was worrying unnecessarily. With only three choices, he only needed to choose the best result among them.
Anyway, he was full of doubts about his beliefs. He was not someone who would risk his whole heart to the so-called gods. He never had too much hope for the gods' attention. Instead of hoping that the gods would grant him abilities, it was better to work hard to improve his strength, which was more practical and down-to-earth.
After some comparison, Alan, who didn't have many choices, finally prepared to go to the temple of the Father of the Oak—the oak war ancient tree revered by the elves as Besselmer—to offer the heart of faith of a false believer.
