Green Monster Epic
#60 - Encountering a strong person
Alan held the giant sword, standing on the high sand dune, vigilantly staring at the approaching black shadow. Behind him, Dasha and Flower Snake simultaneously held chain hammers, watching the black shadow intently.
The black shadow approached, revealing a human-shaped outline. Although it was only one person, Alan did not relax his guard at all.
"Stop, whoever you are, or don't blame us for being impolite."
A lone existence in the desert is the most threatening, which is enough to prove the opponent's strength. Jack, the experienced goblin, hid behind Alan while shouting at the black shadow.
"Sorry to disturb you, I am just a planter walking in the desert, wanting to borrow some drinking water and food from you."
The black shadow stopped outside Alan's battle range. The dim vision could not stop Alan and the others from examining the other person: This was an elf wearing bark and surrounded by nameless vines. In his hand, a curved vine staff grew a lush green leaf.
"Is that Master Oscar Tash???"
Before Alan could speak, Jack, who was hiding behind Alan, jumped out and cheered at the elf in front.
"I didn't expect anyone in this desert to know my name. I am indeed Oscar Tash."
The elf nodded, facing Alan and the others with a smile, not nervous at all.
"If you bear goblin friends are unwilling to lend water and food, I can also exchange unique seeds from my body with you."
"No need, no need, I'll give you the food and water I have, Master."
Jack seemed to recognize the other person and was about to run in front of him to offer the water bag, but Alan grabbed his collar. Only then did Jack, who was excited, react. He turned around and embarrassedly responded to Alan's questioning gaze, and quickly introduced the uninvited guest to him.
"This Master Oscar Tash is an elder of an organization called the Shepherd's Guild in the Natural Balance Church. He has been touring the border of the Tagan Desert for many years, planting countless wild plants to control the expansion of the desert."
"If it weren't for their organization's selfless dedication over the years, I'm afraid the Tagan Desert would have expanded more than twice its size. Therefore, all tribes and organizations living around the desert will provide them with help whenever possible."
"Don't worry, Chief Alan, Master Oscar and the others will never actively attack creatures in the desert."
In fact, when he heard Jack introduce the other party as the Natural Balance Church and saw the oak leaf badge on the left chest of the other party, the vigilant gaze in Alan's eyes had already receded for the most part. However, seemingly afraid that Alan and the others, these combative guys, would still be unrelenting, Jack couldn't help but whisper a few words in Alan's ear.
"Master Oscar Tash is a level 15 high-level powerhouse, only one step away from becoming a legend. He alone can wipe out our entire team, so you must not offend him."
Alan was shocked, and then his eyes scanned the other person's slender figure a few times, but he couldn't see that the other person would be a level 15 high-level powerhouse. However, this scrutiny was only a brief moment. Alan quickly recovered, put on a friendly and welcoming expression, and made an inviting gesture.
"It is fate to meet Master here. It just so happens that the team has extra food and water, I will send someone to deliver it to Master later."
Alan and his party, who had just joined the Church of Nature and believed in the Father of the Oak, were in the same camp as Oscar. With this relationship added, Alan was no longer repulsed by contacting the other party.
"It's getting late now, why don't Master rest in the camp outside, and then set off tomorrow?"
"Then I'll be disturbing you."
Oscar did not refuse, bowing to Alan to express his gratitude, and then approached Alan and the others leisurely.
The Church of Nature is a huge divine system, with several camps under its command. Among them, the Natural Balance Church can be called the most selfless existence in this plane. Its various organizations take balancing the natural ecology as their responsibility. Powerhouses like Oscar run around the edge of the desert for no benefit, planting various plants to prevent and fix sand. If it were Alan and the others, they would not be able to understand it at all. Of course, there are also extremely extreme organizations. The major organizations under the Natural Fury Church believe that the several temperate surfaces of the plane are the biggest pests of the natural environment, bringing indelible damage to nature. Therefore, they radically want to subvert various intelligent civilizations and let the natural environment return to its original state.
"You're too kind."
Alan greeted Oscar with a bit of flattery.
In the night, several key figures in Alan's team surrounded Ambassador Oscar, chatting with him.
"Master, where are you planning to go?"
The goblin Jack had heard many stories about Oscar, and at this time he was also the most curious about him, and the topic had not stopped.
"I heard the news brought by nature that a big fire broke out on the eastern border of the desert, burning a lot of vegetation, so I want to go and see the burn situation and see if I can make up for it."
Oscar was very friendly and not impatient with Jack's many questions, and basically did not hide anything.
"Oh, then Master..."
Alan didn't communicate much with Oscar, but he was very comfortable with him. The other party was an elf but didn't have the arrogance of an elf, treating Alan and the others, these goblins, equally, without any contempt or slowness. After chatting for a long time, Alan even told Oscar that he and ten of his clansmen believed in the Father of the Oak, which also won Oscar's favor.
"I wonder where Chief Alan's territory is?"
Because of the influence of the camp, and Alan's own cleverness, Oscar took the initiative to ask for the first time.
"Oh, our Green Field Tribe is more than 500 miles away in the southwest of the desert. There is a beautiful lake there called Green Lake."
If someone else asked for the address of his tribe, Alan would probably make up an address to prevaricate the other party, but for some reason, looking at Oscar's sincere and kind eyes, Alan told the other party the location of the tribe without hiding anything.
"Is the tribe doing well? How many people are there in the tribe?"
"Life used to be very difficult, and hunting for a day wouldn't yield much..."
After Jack's questions gradually decreased, the conversation between Oscar and Alan increased instead. Both of them were energetic war professionals, and they didn't need too much rest time. At this time, Alan's talkativeness was aroused by Oscar in the quiet environment, and he said out countless complaints hidden in his heart, which can be regarded as a kind of venting.
Apart from the voices of Alan and Oscar, the surrounding people fell asleep quietly, and various light snores sounded, echoing with the calls of insects and wild beasts active in the desert at night, forming a natural symphony.
