Hogwarts: Wizards of Eternity

#14 - Entering Hogwarts

Within Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, there are four great houses.

Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff.

The four houses respectively represent the four ideals of the school's four founders.

The formation of a person's ideals is inextricably linked to their background, upbringing, and capabilities.

Now, the division of the four houses is basically equivalent to four social groups.

Although there will always be some exceptions, most people still go to a particular house and then, after graduation, pursue related work within that group.

Of course, the reason is not only the atmosphere of the house, but also the network of contacts and resources they acquire within the school, which makes it easier for them to develop in related fields, just as few people who study film for several years suddenly go into scientific research.

The houses of Hogwarts are not like certain 'dead-end' majors with no visible job prospects; as long as you can graduate, you can follow the rhythm and find a decent job.

Roger had only one thought about his sorting: anything but Slytherin.

With his background, if he went to Slytherin, the fun would be too great!

He probably wouldn't be able to calm down and study for quite some time.

From his past life memories, the Sorting Hat's allocation, in addition to the little wizard's spiritual qualities, also considers the little wizard's own wishes.

But… just in case, it's better to ask.

Roger didn't completely trust the information in his memory, because of two issues.

First, Harry Potter has novels, movies, radio dramas, stage plays… who knows which world line this is, and what are the differences between different world lines? Roger had only seen a part of the movies.

Second, from the magic books Professor McGonagall gave him, and the two history books in his bag, he could see that this wizarding world was far more complex than the glimpse presented in the movies.

Just like a certain state or province in a large country cannot represent the complex situation of the entire country or even the world.

So, when encountering critical issues, even with past life memories, Roger would analyze the specific situation.

"Hufflepuff, if possible, that's where I'd like to go," Hannah replied seriously.

After the little episode just now, Hannah suddenly realized that Roger might be different from what she had previously thought.

…Could it be that some of the legends in the tavern-goers' mouths are true?

Originally, she couldn't see any of the extraordinary aura of a leader of any faction in Roger's daily life, so she held a contemptuous attitude towards certain outrageous rumors, thinking that Roger was just an ordinary bookworm, but now she was a little confused.

"I, I haven't thought about it yet," Neville revealed a somewhat nervous look.

But Roger could see that, although he said he hadn't thought about it, he already had a tendency in his heart, but he just didn't dare to face that choice yet.

Checking grades, finding parents after causing trouble, confessing feelings, hesitating on major issues is human nature.

After thinking about the background of these two and some other information he knew, Roger nodded, he roughly understood this matter.

The train arrived, and the little wizards who had changed into their school uniforms in the train's changing rooms poured out of the carriages like a flood.

Roger and the others boarded the train during the day, and by the time they arrived at Hogwarts, it was already dark.

Although the school uniforms had temperature-regulating magic that kept them warm in winter and cool in summer, the cold night wind blowing on the skin was still uncomfortable.

After getting off the train, the students split into two groups.

A group of older students went directly to the main gate of Hogwarts.

And the first-year students had other arrangements.

"First-year students! First-year students over here! Harry, over here, are you alright?"

Above the sea of moving heads, a tall figure said with a smile.

And a little boy wearing glasses walked closer to him.

Although it was their first meeting, Roger recognized him, Dumbledore's confidant, the half-giant Hagrid.

"Come on, follow me, are there any more first-year students? Watch your step, alright! First-year students, follow me!"

According to tradition, all first-year students who want to enter Hogwarts must retrace the path that the four school founders once walked.

Along a short, steep, narrow path, through the dark forest, at the end of the road you can see a huge, majestic castle built on a hillside, and in front of the castle is a bottomless lake.

Near the lake were rows of small boats floating on it. The four founders took a boat across the lake and built Hogwarts on that mountain.

"No more than four people per boat!" Hagrid said loudly, pointing to a line of small boats moored on the shore.

Through the forest and across the lake, climb up the rocky tunnel and arrive at the damp grass, then climb a flight of stone steps.

The first-year students were safe and sound, gathered in front of a huge oak door.

After confirming that everyone had arrived, Hagrid knocked three times on the door.

After opening the door, what appeared in front of Roger was a familiar face, a tall witch in a emerald green robe, Professor McGonagall.

After Hagrid completed the handover with her, McGonagall glanced at the group of students, paused on Roger for a second before retracting her gaze, and led the new students towards the interior of Hogwarts, while walking, she began to talk about the Sorting.

"Huh?!" Roger thought in surprise.

Although some memories had already blurred.

He wouldn't forget the famous scene in the movie.

Shouldn't the next scene be the first meeting between Draco Malfoy and Harry Potter?

Could it be that fate had already fluctuated?

And when he saw the Sorting Hat, Roger instantly suppressed this surprise.

He knew that the test that belonged to him was coming.

The Sorting Hat of Hogwarts has the ability to read minds and look directly into the heart. This is something he must pay attention to. If an accident occurs at this stage, he is afraid that it will be even worse than falling into Azkaban!

For Roger, it doesn't matter if future information is exposed, anyway, everyone knows that he is a seer.

Even if being resurrected from the dead is exposed, it doesn't matter. Magic, after all, always has some magical phenomena. Physical death is not a complete death among wizards.

But he absolutely cannot expose that he is a person from another world, otherwise, God knows what kind of mess will happen!

And how to deal with it, Roger has his own way.

Occlumency? That is indeed a way, but on the one hand, doing so is too deliberate, and on the other hand, Roger currently has no way to learn that kind of spell.

Roger's method is very simple. The Sorting Hat cannot search all memories. There are many people in the wizarding world who have secrets they don't want to reveal. If it were that magical, this hat would have been destroyed long ago.

It should only be able to retrieve a person's 'current' thoughts, and roughly judge a person's personality based on the disturbance of magic and thinking.

And this, is much easier…

When Roger was ready, the Sorting Ceremony began amidst the attention of the entire Hogwarts, all the students, and professors!
