Hogwarts: Wizards of Eternity

#78 - Grindelwald (5th update, please subscribe first)

Roger was a very charismatic person.

This charisma wasn't referring to magical power.

But rather a charisma of personality.

People who interacted with him would be involuntarily infected by him.

Those who hadn't truly spent time with Roger would find it hard to appreciate that special quality.

He was a seer. All your secrets were no secret in his eyes. At the same time, he was a sincere person, who wouldn't tell you lies, wouldn't scheme against you, and wouldn't think of using future intelligence to do anything to you.

As long as you didn't treat him with hostility, Roger would always release at least a sliver of goodwill towards you.

To put it in more game-like terms, unless you were a scum so vile that people wanted to vomit at the sight of you, or an enemy, everyone's initial affinity with Roger was 'Friendly'.

That feeling of not needing to think twice, not needing to have any concerns, and being able to speak freely and unrestrainedly, was truly fascinating.

The more people interacted with Roger, the deeper this influence would become.

If this influence continued, in the end…

"You're starting to want to choose his path. If you didn't have the slightest desire in your heart, you wouldn't be here, you wouldn't have come to see me," Grindelwald said very seriously.

Inside Nurmengard Castle, the two sat facing each other on either side of a tea table.

This castle restricted Grindelwald's conventional magical abilities, but his seer abilities weren't affected too much. He had been 'watching' the outside world all these years.

Originally, Grindelwald thought everything was predestined, but he didn't expect a variable to appear!

Ever since that trial, when that little seer appeared beside Dumbledore, everything changed.

The future began to become chaotic and unclear, and the original destiny was completely shattered.

Roger's existence severely interfered with Grindelwald's "vision".

Grindelwald could still see the future, but the future he could see was no longer singular, but as indistinguishable as a kaleidoscope.

However, although the future was blurred, generally speaking, there was still a rough outline.

After all, Roger's goal had never changed. What had changed was only the means by which he influenced the world.

In the end, there was still a trend that could be summarized.

"The person who flips a coin to make a decision isn't really waiting for heads or tails. It's that when the coin is tossed, his heart already has the answer."

Grindelwald, who had been watching Dumbledore, knew why he had come, so he directly gave the answer.

In Grindelwald's opinion, what was important wasn't what advice he gave. When Dumbledore hesitated, everything was already destined to lean in that direction.

Some things only happen 0 times, or countless times.

Regarding Grindelwald's statement, Dumbledore pursed his lips, noncommittal: "Just now you said you discovered something interesting. Can you talk about it?"

In fact, he had already agreed with Grindelwald's words in his heart, but that didn't mean he didn't want to know future information.

But Grindelwald, who always said what he had to say to him and wasn't stingy with sharing, shook his head this time: "What I see now is just a possibility of the future, but if I show it to you, the future may head in a direction that everyone doesn't want to see."

"Don't forget, he's also a seer. Some words, if I don't say them, and I say them, could produce very different results." Grindelwald really couldn't figure out the current trend of the future.

But at least there wasn't a future he hated too much.

Dumbledore's attitude during the Wizengamot trial left a deep impression on Roger.

Based on this friendship, Dumbledore's future, in all kinds of futures, almost had no possibility of 'falling'.

But if some of his future information was revealed, and Dumbledore made extra moves, the future might change in any direction.

Although decades ago, Dumbledore and he had stood on opposite sides, ending his ambition, how could Grindelwald really bear to see him not end well?

So, let him slowly boil like a frog in warm water.

"Can't you say anything at all?"

"It's not that I can't say anything at all—there's one thing related to that little seer, but it's not that strongly related."

As he said that, Grindelwald stretched out his hand.

But as soon as his hand was raised a little, he stopped his movement.

The long-lost harmonious atmosphere gave Grindelwald the illusion that he had returned to the past, and he almost forgot that he couldn't cast spells now and couldn't take Dumbledore to personally experience what he saw.

He put down his hand.

Suddenly, Grindelwald felt a little listless.

"In short, be careful of that junior named Voldemort."

"In many possibilities that I've seen, he has gone very far on the path of magic, much further than he is now. Although there have been timelines where he died prematurely, there's no doubt that he has the potential to reach great heights."

"It's best not to let him get the diary."

As soon as he heard Grindelwald mention Voldemort, Dumbledore subconsciously frowned: "Diary? What do you mean?"

"You'll understand when you see it," Grindelwald said casually.

Dumbledore frowned even deeper.

Dumbledore was a person who often spoke in riddles, but as everyone knows, colleagues are enemies, and riddle-makers don't like riddle-makers.

"Can't you be more frank?" Dumbledore complained very rarely.

He didn't know if he was talking about this time, or all the previous times.

And Grindelwald replied: "Not every seer is like that little guy, who doesn't care about anything except his own path, and doesn't care how the future changes."

In Grindelwald's opinion, it was precisely because Roger completely treated the 'future' as non-existent, did things as he pleased, had one idea today, and another idea tomorrow, always self-updating, and always wanted to face everything in the most excellent state.

There was no path dependence at all. He never thought of sticking to one path, living off his old achievements, and always used the most advanced technical means, which led to the future becoming so chaotic!

The future that was just determined today might take a 90-degree turn tomorrow due to a breakthrough in small technical details.

Unlike alien visitors from other worlds, Grindelwald had ties in this world. Even when he led the Deathly Hallows, there were things he didn't want to touch.

It was the same now. Regarding the rapidly changing future, Grindelwald's choice was to wait and see.

The two chatted for a while, and both sides tacitly didn't mention any topics about the past.

They just simply talked about Roger.

After discovering that he couldn't get new information from his old friend, Dumbledore planned to leave. He, who had just been severely stimulated by Roger, was really a little worried about Roger being away from his sight for a long time.

Before leaving, Dumbledore asked Grindelwald one last question: "Are you going to go out?"

Grindelwald stared at the old man with white hair and a white beard in front of him, saw himself with the same white hair and white beard in the old man's pupils, and was silent for a long time.

Just when Dumbledore thought he wouldn't get an answer, Grindelwald spoke.

"Go back and ask that little seer, does he want me to come out?"

"No matter how he answers, I will give you the answer then."
