Now they are used in the top cells in stacked devices, and there is a high probability that they will also inherit part of their characteristics in the binary single-junction system.
On the other hand, another article by Li Dan's research group based on the COi8DFIC ternary system gave Xu Qiu ideas for further optimization.
The introduction of PCBM into stacked devices is not to improve the device efficiency of the corresponding sub-cells, but to facilitate the regulation of the light absorption performance of each sub-cell of the stacked device, so that the short-circuit current density of the top cell and the bottom cell match.
In other words, it is not very important whether the PCBM is placed in the bottom cell or in the top cell.
Now, the optimal lamination system is the ternary IDIC-M/binary COi8DFIC system.
According to the results reported by Li Dan's research group, the device efficiency of the COi8DFIC-based ternary system is higher than that of the COi8DFIC binary system.
The experimental results in our own group show that the performance of the ternary IDIC-M system is not significantly different from that of the binary IDIC-M system.
Therefore, Xu Qiu came up with the idea of transferring the PCBM in the bottom cell to the top cell, that is, building a binary IDIC-M/ternary COi8DFIC system.
Anyway, the IDIC-M system can still operate without PCBM, and if the COi8DFIC system is added to PCBM, it may be able to go to a higher level.
This might be a feasible solution.
