Hogwarts White Knight

Chapter 14 Self-consistent theory

After realizing that little bit of inspiration, Gawain devoted himself to the study of spells.

This caused some trouble for Colin's quality of life, because when he woke up early, he found that what was waiting for him was not a hearty breakfast, but a pack of toast bread, a stack of lettuce, and ham that was only fried on one side.

"If my guess is correct...that's it."

Sitting at the desk, Gawain put down his pen and stretched his arms toward the sky. There was swelling around his eyes, and his short blond hair looked a little messy. Last night, when he suddenly realized that it was time to sleep, it was already today.

"And you guy..."

Gawain scratched Abyss's chin angrily again. Ever since it jumped on Gawain's face in the morning and woke him up, it had stuck to him like glue and couldn't be dragged away.

Abyss called "meow" and turned over on his lap, exposing its belly.

She had only been at home for a day, but Abyss already seemed completely defenseless.

Gawain was a little surprised by how familiar he was.

"(Fluorescence)."

Taking a deep breath, and another deep breath, Gawain held the ebony wand, straightened his right arm naturally, and exhaled the spell.

Once again, he felt that wonderful feeling, and his consciousness suddenly expanded.

But this time, he did not follow this trend naturally. Instead, he kept exploring and took the initiative to strengthen this connection.

Make it more stable and powerful.

A silver ball of light appeared... no, it should be said to bloom at the tip of his wand.

It was much more dazzling than what Gawain had used before, and even under the sun's rays, one could still feel its glare and warmth. And as Gawain actively weakened this connection, it dimmed again, turning into a comfortable brightness.

Although it is still not as rigorous as he expected, Gawain believes that with enough practice, this spell will have broader possibilities.

"really!"

Gawain wanted to laugh in celebration, but tried to keep his temper calm. He could feel that after the silver ball of light appeared, a considerable part of his attention needed to be used to maintain that connection.

Once dazed for a moment, it will disappear like a midsummer night's dream, like a bubble in the sun.

"The spell itself is just a tool or a bridge, not the root."

After writing this sentence in his notes, Gawain teased the abyss with the ball of light with satisfaction. The little black cat also seems to like this oversized cat teasing stick, jumping up and down to chase it.

A question has been lingering in his mind since last night.

Why are most spells in Latin?

And he flipped through several books and finally found some clues.

Dumbledore's "History of Modern Magic" annotated by Dumbledore mentioned that many years ago, when the Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was not yet established, the effects of universal spells often changed when indigenous wizards in the United States learned them.

But this rarely happened to the wizards who migrated with the British colonization.

"In other words, the spell itself is actually a preconceived impression. For example, when you say fire, you will think of fire. But what really has the effect is the wizard's own thoughts?"

Gawain believes that this conclusion is far from perfect, and there should be some deeper reasons.

But at least from what he knows so far.

"It's barely consistent enough. So, what if khronos is actually a spell?"

Thinking of this, he felt his heart beating faster, "Maybe I can try?"

"khro..."

Gawain took Abyss off his lap, stood in front of the desk, and called softly.

Just like last time, the world seemed to slow down visibly to the naked eye, and his perception became more acute. The gentle sound of the curtains brought by the breeze, the faint fragrance of the sun shining on the quilt, the rhythm of the rapid beating of the heart...

He felt that his blood was flowing faster and his body temperature was rising.

"Just like before."

Gawain thought, but he was sure that this time was destined to be different.

"Slow down, slow down."

He kept thinking silently in his mind, trying to make this process controllable, instead of turning it into gunpowder and blowing himself up into a tattered rag doll.

And he's about to succeed.

"Meow!"

Abyss suddenly stood up and looked at Gawain warily.

Its pupils dilated slightly, and it let out a low growl from its throat, and even the hair on its body stood straight up. Before Gawain could react, it had already jumped high and jumped out from the crack of the slightly open window.

"nos..."

He suppressed his anxiety, exhaled the second half of the spell, and then simply broke off the connection that was about to be established.

Cancel the effect.

Only a few seconds passed, but deep fatigue swept over him, making Gawain's vision darken, and he fell weakly onto the bed.

But he still stood up reluctantly and chased after him.

Meanwhile, Privet Drive is not far from Tulip Road where Gawain's home is located.

Harry Potter was running panting.

The eleven-year-old was very thin and wore a pair of thin-rimmed black-rimmed glasses. The sneakers he wore seemed to be one size too big for his feet, so that he had to stop from time to time to adjust when running.

Chasing behind him were three boys with ferocious expressions.

"Dammit, Potter boy, stop!"

The boy at the head had a big pink silver face, and blond curls were hanging on his forehead due to excessive sweating. While chasing him, he pulled at the collar of the round-necked orange T-shirt he was wearing.

"Do you think I'm stupid? Dada!"

Harry ran without looking back and called out the name his aunt used to call him at home, which undoubtedly made the fat boy even more angry. But compared to the thin and agile Harry, he undoubtedly suffered a big disadvantage in long-distance running due to his huge size.

The chase should have ended in his defeat.

If Harry hadn't stopped suddenly.

"damn it!"

Harry, who was running, suddenly saw a little black cat howling sharply in the middle of the road on his side.

It seemed to be frightened by the sound of the car horn. It wanted to move its legs but immediately retracted them. Its round head turned around, which was pitiful.

To make matters worse, a car was heading towards it.

"It can't be avoided!"

Harry's mind went blank, and before he could think clearly, his body had already started to act. He stopped, turned around, rushed to the middle of the road, hugged the little black cat with both hands, and then jumped back sharply.

"beeeeeep!"

The driver raised his middle finger at Harry, left a greeting that was so loud that it was silenced, and then sped away.

"It's okay, almost. Don't do this again."

Harry fell to the ground, hugging the cat, and breathed heavily.

Suddenly, a chill ran down his spine, and he felt someone staring at him fiercely from behind.

"Run? Potter? Run again?"

Just now, Dudley had caught up with him and was flexing his knuckles, wanting to have a pleasant conversation with him.

1. Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is a magic school in the United States. It was established in 1746 by immigrants from Ireland. The founder is said to be a descendant of Salazar Slytherin.

2. The current theory of magic is not complete, and there are still existences such as silent spells, wandless spellcasting, permanent transformation, as well as potions and research spells. But please let me leave some foreshadowing here.

3. Privet Drive and Tulip Road do not exist in reality, but Little Whinging is real, although the filming location was actually in Yorkshire (it seems no one noticed this foreshadowing before?) The name Duddy is in the first place Appears twice in the volume.

4. Regarding the golden finger curse of the protagonist, it is inspired by Emiya Kiritsugu in Fate, which has inherent time control.

5. The fact that the protagonist’s mature thinking is not like that of an 11-year-old boy is related to the subsequent plot (although there are secret hints in the front)
