Harry Potter: Glory Bows to Me

Chapter 111 The Malfoys' Thestral Carriage

"Oh my god, can you see that?"

Draco paused in surprise.

"Sorry... I lost my composure, I just wanted to know, what do they look like?" he explained.

"They look like two flying horses, black in color, with heads that look a bit like dragons, and wings that are giant bat wings," Amanta explained simply.

She studied the two Thestrals, wondering how she could see them.

Only those who have experienced death can see the Thestrals.

And since she came here, it seemed that she had never experienced anyone's death.

Could it be... that she can see this because she has experienced her own death?

"How cool! It turns out what my father said is true." Draco exclaimed, "I always thought they didn't exist."

Harry stared at the air in front of the carriage in confusion.

"Why can't I see anything either? Logically speaking... I've also experienced what happened to my parents..."

Draco rubbed his chin with his fingers, thinking. "I think maybe you were still a baby at that time and didn't understand what death was. Or maybe you fainted and lost consciousness at that time-so you didn't know what happened."

Harry nodded. "That's possible."

“…but it always feels a bit regretful that I can’t see them.”

Harry stared at the front of the carriage with regret: "All I can see is - transparent air."

Amanta shook her head: "Being able to see it doesn't actually mean it's a good thing."

"So Amanta, have you experienced anyone's death?"

Harry asked curiously.

"Um……"

She couldn't say she had experienced her own death.

Amanta's eyes rolled slightly, and she had to make up a story: "...Actually, I don't remember it very clearly, but I think...it might be that when I was a child in an orphanage, there was a little girl in the orphanage who had an incurable disease and died not long after."

"Oh my god, that's so unfortunate..."

Harry shook his head.

"You're right. The thought of having to experience someone's death...it's best if I never see it."

"Okay, get in the car, we'll talk in the car, otherwise if we dawdle any longer we'll miss lunch today." Draco urged.

They got into the carriage and piled their luggage under the seats, and the door closed automatically.

The interior of the Malfoy family's carriage was as simple as its exterior. There was nothing inside except two black hard seats facing each other.

After Harry stuffed Hedwig's cage under the seat, he said worriedly, "I heard that riding in a carriage can be very bumpy. I wonder if a carriage pulled by a Thestral is like this too."

Draco nodded in agreement.

"It's a bit - I just don't like it, but I still prefer this method of travel to using Floo powder and eating a nose full of soot, or Apparating with the possibility of losing limbs at any time."

"The speed is also good - apart from the Hogwarts Express, the carriage at home is the most satisfactory to me."

"In my experience, it's only the beginning and the end that are uncomfortable - the middle is fine."

He talked endlessly about his feelings and listed various ways of traveling in the wizarding world, and always ended up praising his own carriage.

"The beginning and the end are uncomfortable... the middle is okay..."

Harry repeated it, chewing on the words.

"Well, yes, I think it's about time to leave. By the way, remember to take care of your luggage, especially--"

Before Draco could finish his words, he was interrupted by Harry's scream.

"Ahhhh!"

His scream was not without reason.

As they packed up their things and chatted, the Thestral suddenly flew up without any warning.

They pushed the ground lightly with their front hooves and flapped their two huge bat wings vigorously, creating a billowing air current that drove the carriage into the vast sky.

Inside the carriage, they quickly entered a state of weightlessness.

...It's a bit like a Muggle roller coaster ride.

Amanta grabbed the cushion under her legs with one hand and held the car window with the other, and her legs were floating up and her buttocks left the seat.

Her heart was in her throat. This feeling of being out of touch was so terrible.

Their owl cage floated out from under the seat as well.

Draco seemed to be prepared. He held the handle on the roof with one hand and held down his things with the other.

"I'm not done yet - watch your stuff! Especially the owl -" he shouted at them sitting opposite him.

Amanta's owl cage had floated completely upwards - she saw Bertha fluttering past her with her little wings frantically flapping.

She quickly loosened her grip on the car window and reached out to grab Bertha's cage, which was floating in panic. She breathed a sigh of relief - but Hedwig's cage floated past her again, and she quickly used her arm to push Hedwig's cage towards Harry.

"Harry! Hold on to your cage!"

Amanta reminded loudly.

"Oh...Oh...Oh...Oh...Oh!" Harry's screams soared into the sky.

Maybe because Harry was unprepared just now, he floated up and almost floated onto the roof of the car. He was waving his arms trying to grab something, and his arms waving around even hit Amanta's nose.

"..."

Harry was already overwhelmed.

Amanta reluctantly used her free fingers to hook Hedwig's cage.

The two cages collided with each other, making a crisp sound, which startled the two owls and made them flutter around in the cages.

Fortunately, the feeling of weightlessness did not last too long. After about ten seconds, the Thestrals stopped flying upwards. From the view outside the window, they gradually flew into the clouds - to the height they were familiar with and good at.

Everything in the car gradually fell down.

For the first time, Amanta felt so good to be down to earth.

Harry also gradually fell down from the roof of the car. He frantically reached out and grabbed everywhere, and finally he half-knelt and lay beside the car window.

After finally catching something and settling down, Harry lay motionless on the window, staring out, and exclaimed loudly: "Great! This is much higher than flying on a broom! We are above the clouds now - God, are we going to hit a plane?"

"Very good indeed, if your hand were not grasping my hat..."

Amanta patted his hands, which were clutching his hair and the hat of his robe, expressionlessly.

"Ahem, sorry, Amanta, are you okay?"

Harry hastily let go.

"It's okay." Amanta sighed helplessly, glanced at the white mist outside the window, and asked Draco, "How long will we sit here?"

Draco rubbed his chin, seeming to be thinking about this question as well.

"I do not know either."

He spread his hands towards Amanta.

"After all... this is also my first time riding from Hogwarts to Malfoy Manor, but the Thestrals are always very fast. I think we will arrive before noon."

"Amanta, you haven't had breakfast yet?" Draco asked.

"No."

Amanta shook her head.

"Me neither." Harry complained, touching his flat belly. "My stomach is growling."

Draco sighed slightly: "Of course...we came out early, but mother should have prepared breakfast for us."

"Ready?"

Amanta was a little confused.

After all, this carriage looks very simple, or rather, it has nothing except two seats facing each other.

Draco's face once again showed that smug and boastful expression. He had this expression every time he mentioned his family in the past two days. Amanta couldn't tell how many times she had seen it.

"This is not one of those Muggle carriages you and Harry have seen—the ones that don't have any functions."

"The Malfoy family's carriage doesn't look as simple as its appearance."

He tapped the flap above his head with his wand.

As soon as his wand touched the baffle, the space inside the carriage began to expand outwards foot by foot. The wood under their feet couldn't wait to stretch out to new lengths, and the structure inside the carriage was constantly changing.

"I think there are space spells, traceless extension spells, expansion spells, and transformation spells in the car..."

Amanta took stock of the spells used in the carriage with interest.

In the blink of an eye, they no longer felt like they were sitting in a small carriage, but rather in a living room, with the hard black seats and leather covers behind them turning into a black reclining soft sofa with a few pillows on it.

"Yes, of course. Perhaps there is something missing."

Draco tapped the floor of the carriage with his wand.

The wood under their feet immediately rolled over, and pieces of wood were pieced together and stood up. In the blink of an eye, it turned into a small table in front of them.

"A copying spell." Amanta confirmed, "and some spells are used to fix the angle and number of copies. Um - there is also an automatic cleaning function."

"Yes, it's pretty good, isn't it? Of course... this is only part of its function. To be honest, I haven't seen a more sophisticated design in the wizarding world. Although the Ministry of Magic always uses similar carriages, they are still far inferior to Malfoy's."

Draco felt even more proud when he saw the slightly surprised expressions on Amanta and Harry's faces.

He stood up and opened the wall cabinet above the carriage window - Amanta only then discovered that there were some cabinets there.

"Now, let's get back to the topic. It's finally time for breakfast."

Like a magic trick, he took out a huge tablecloth from the small cabinet and spread it on the table. He then brought out plates of food and placed them on the table.

Amanta thought that there must be some kind of space extension spell cast in that small cabinet, otherwise - the things he took out alone would be bigger than the cabinet looked.

Draco had already taken out several plates of baked cheese, chestnut cake, meat floss biscuits and the like.

But he didn't seem to have taken out everything inside yet.

Amanta looked at the steaming grilled sausages in front of her and continued to comment: "It has a heat preservation spell on it, which is really good."

"Harry, come and help." Draco urged, bringing out two more glasses of milk.

"Oh! Here I come."

Harry finally reacted and stood up quickly.

"I was stunned just now... This is too magical."

When they took out everything and put it on the table.

The table was already filled to the brim with food, leaving almost no room for anything else.

"Did your mother make all of this?" Harry rubbed his hands, looking at the dazzling array of dishes, "I don't even know which one to eat first."

But this sentence somehow hit a sore spot in Draco's mind.

The expression on his face suddenly became strange.

"My mother did it? Oh god... you should be thankful Merlin, it wasn't my mother who did any of this."

Amanta keenly grasped the key point in his words: "Isn't... Lady Narcissa's cooking delicious?"

Draco thought about it, shook his head stiffly, and nodded.

"Mother... I can't tell whether she can cook or not. Anyway, you should never even think of trying her cooking skills."

He had a miserable expression on his face, and his rich expression made Amantha even more curious about Narcissa's level.

"Hearing you say that, I actually want to try it."

Draco's eyes widened immediately.

"No!"

"Who has been responsible for cooking in your family? Is it Uncle Lucius? Isn't he very busy?"

Harry asked curiously.

Amanta reminded him: "Draco has a house elf at home, have you forgotten? Just like Dobby--"

"Uh... can they cook? They look dirty..." Harry hesitated, "I'm just concerned about hygiene. I always thought their job was just to clean the room and mow the lawn..."

Amanta had to tell him.

"Of course they do, and...Hogwarts' food has always been made by the house-elves."

"Oh! Really? Thank you so much for always preparing such rich and delicious food. I suddenly became interested in house-elves." Harry's eyes lit up.

Draco nodded.

"Amanta is right. Our family's three meals a day have always been prepared by the house-elves. As for mother..." He looked at Amanta and Harry pleadingly, "Remember, never let mother cook."

Harry nodded, not quite understanding.

"Okay." He looked at the sumptuous breakfast in front of him, "But... never mind that for now, this piece of brulee looks so delicious! I really can't wait!"

He couldn't wait to pick up the spoon and scoop out a big piece of crème brûlée.

Amanta shook her head helplessly and reminded him, "Eat less, Harry... Do you feel that your face has become rounder recently?"

"Really?" Harry immediately touched his face in doubt.

"Well, haven't you noticed? I think your figure is already developing towards that of Crabbe and Goyle."

Draco said slowly.

"..." Harry looked at the roasted chicken leg in front of him and couldn't eat it anymore.

"I... Crabbe and Goyle..." he said desperately, "I suddenly feel that they are not so fragrant anymore."
