Harry Potter: Glory Bows to Me

Chapter 242: The Moonlit Screaming Shack

Harry's world seemed to be turned upside down in an instant.

He stared at Sirius blankly, his throat seemed to be strangled by an invisible hand, and even his breathing became sluggish.

He opened his mouth as if he wanted to say something, but was interrupted by Snape's cold voice.

"Harry, if Peter hadn't betrayed your parents, they wouldn't have been found by Voldemort. I hope you can restrain your ignorant anger and stop bringing shame to Slytherin."

"Peter...Peter Petillo? Was it really him back then?"

Harry's Adam's apple moved up and down, and mixed emotions surged in his heart.

Although Amanta had mentioned this possibility to him before, he had remained skeptical.

Should he believe it? Is this the truth?

Sirius' tone softened a bit.

"Harry, your father trusted Peter and put his and Lily's life and death in his hands." He said slowly in a low voice, "He saved Peter and gave him a chance, and Peter repaid him in this way - he betrayed James, betrayed Lily, and betrayed everyone."

Sirius' voice dropped.

Harry's lips trembled slightly and his fingers almost broke the wooden handle of his wand as the shock of learning the truth swept through his body like a wave.

His always unwavering hatred now showed cracks.

"For the past twelve years, I have been imprisoned in Azkaban, thinking about revenge for James and Lily day and night." Black took a deep breath, "But more importantly, I want to find you, Harry. You are their only hope left. I will never hurt you."

Harry's fingertips felt cold, and the coldness spread from his finger bones all the way to his heart.

Sirius's eyes were too heavy. It was a kind of belief that remained after experiencing so much vicissitudes and pain, with deep guilt and desire.

Did he...really blame him wrongly?

He slowly put down his wand, his eyes still wandering, as if he was weighing this sudden truth: "I... I need to think about it again..."

Meanwhile, Lupin on the ground was curled up in pain.

The moonlight gradually faded, and the fur-covered body slowly began to return to human form, his sharp claws gradually retracted, and sweat soaked his shirt.

The three of them then remembered Lupin who they had forgotten about.

"Professor Lupin...what's wrong with him?" Harry swallowed and chose to move closer.

Lupin was his favorite professor after all.

"I think... Professor Lupin, were you bitten by something?" Cedric hesitated.

Seeing this, Harry took out the last bag of cockroaches from his pocket and handed it over carefully: "Want some sweets? Maybe it will make you feel better..."

Before he could finish his words, Sirius pushed the candy back into his hand.

"…Your father was also so stupid back then."

Harry was stunned, but Sirius suddenly laughed, with a hint of bitter nostalgia in his voice.

"But... this is probably also where you are most like him."

Just then, Lupin on the ground let out a faint groan.

Sirius immediately squatted down and held his shoulders: "Remus?"

Lupin's hand weakly grasped Sirius' sleeve and said in a weak voice: "Sirius..."

"Don't talk," Sirius said in a rare gentle tone, "You almost tore all of us apart."

Lupin smiled slightly, but then frowned.

"I... I felt something was wrong with the potion. When the moon was full, I realized that its effect was weakening, but I had no control over it... If it weren't for you-"

Snape took out the small bottle containing the residual potion from the inner pocket of Lupin's robe, raised the bottle to his nose and sniffed it. His nostrils twitched slightly and his eyes suddenly became cold.

"this is not your fault."

He spoke slowly, his voice as low as the surface of a frozen lake.

"The wolfsbane potion is ineffective because—"

He paused, narrowed his eyes, and slowly uttered the answer: "Sugar was added to it."

Lupin's face turned pale instantly.

"Sugar?" Sirius narrowed his eyes. "Who would do that?"

Snape put the potion bottle back into the inner pocket of his robes, his eyes sharp.

"Few people know the properties of wolfsbane potion, and even fewer know that sugar can completely render it ineffective."

Sirius's face darkened instantly, and his fingers tightened slightly: "This is not a coincidence."

"Obviously not." Snape continued coldly, his eyes scanning everyone present with sharp scrutiny, "Someone did this deliberately, wanting Lupin to completely lose control..."

He raised an eyebrow at Harry and Amanta: "Come to think of it, I'm not surprised that there are two people who always appear at the scene of the accident. But you... As a prefect of Hufflepuff, what are you doing here?"

Cedric looked embarrassed, and Harry spoke first: "We thought... uh, to call Cedric over."

Snape glared at him.

Harry had no choice but to change the subject: "So, who would do this? And what's the purpose?"

Amanta slowly stood up and said in a deep voice: "We all know the consequences of a werewolf getting out of control, especially near Hogwarts... If this was a deliberately arranged accident, then the target would definitely not just be Professor Lupin."

"So," Sirius narrowed his eyes, his gaze sharp as a knife, "someone wants the werewolf professor at Hogwarts to completely lose control and cause chaos."

"Fortunately it didn't work." Harry muttered, but his tone was not relaxed at all.

"Then the question is," Sirius said in a low and hoarse voice, scanning the crowd, "Who knew the ingredients of the wolfsbane potion and was able to tamper with Snape's potion without anyone noticing?"

Snape's eyes changed slightly, and it was obvious that he also realized the seriousness of the problem.

He took a step forward, his robes sweeping silently through the air. "This is definitely not something an ordinary student would do."

"Could it be Voldemort? No, it should be the Death Eaters?" Harry immediately thought of this possibility and his body tensed up instantly.

Amanta's heart sank.

She thought about Draco.

She thought of the threat posed by the man in black robe.

Based on her intuition, she was almost certain that this matter was related to that person, but if she said it now, Draco would be pushed to the forefront.

She wasn't sure exactly what role he had played in the incident - was he coerced, or...

She didn't want to think about the worse possibilities.

Amanta's fingers tightened slightly, and the wand hidden in her sleeve was as cold as a poisonous snake sticking to her skin.

She didn't dare to speak rashly, but she had the answer in her heart.

Sirius stared at the remaining potion thoughtfully, his voice low.

“This will not be a solo act.”

"Of course not." Snape narrowed his eyes and looked at Sirius coldly, "Death Eaters don't like to fight alone."

The air froze for a few seconds.

Finally, it was Harry who broke the silence first, his teeth clenched and his eyes burning with anger.

"We can't let this go."

"What do you want to do?" Snape glanced at him coldly, "To challenge the mastermind head-on? You don't even know who the other party is."

"Then investigate!" Harry's voice was surprisingly firm. He looked at Sirius, then at Lupin, "If their target is not just Professor Lupin, then what about next time? Will they do something even more extreme?"

“They’re already doing that.”

Amanta suddenly spoke, her voice was not loud, but it made everyone quiet down.

She slowly loosened her clenched fingers and whispered, "This is not accidental, it is a planned action."

All eyes were on her and Harry frowned in confusion.

"Amanta, what do you mean?"

Amanta took a deep breath.

"This is not an ordinary prank, but an action with a clear purpose... Someone is not only trying to make Lupin lose control, but also wants to use this chaos to cover up a deeper conspiracy."

"What do you know?" Sirius' voice suddenly became sharp.

Amanta paused for a second, and finally shook her head: "I'm not sure yet."

She would not reveal Draco's name. No matter what role he played, she had to find out the truth first.

And, she knew, this was just the beginning.

The night was still silent, the moonlight shining through the dilapidated screaming shacks onto them like a veil of indifference.
