Harry Potter: Glory Bows to Me
Chapter 28 Draco's Inner Monologue
The Owl Shed is on the top floor of the west tower. Climb up a narrow spiral staircase at the bottom to reach this circular room.
"Actually... I've always known that Pansy has a crush on me, and I understand why she's targeting you and Harry."
Draco suddenly spoke as he walked behind Amanta. He seemed to be worried about something all the way.
Amanta raised her eyebrows. "The way she expresses her love is so obvious. If you still don't understand, you are either a fool or you are pretending to be confused."
"…I'm sorry, I didn't stand up in time because I was always concerned about the interests of the Malfoy family."
Draco's lips turned paler and paler, and it was obvious that he was in agony.
Amanta said slowly: "Well, but this is not what I want to say."
"The most permanent way to solve a problem is to solve the problem itself."
"you understand me."
Draco slowly stopped and stood on the spiral staircase, his lips completely bloodless.
"Amanta, I don't think you are that kind of person."
"I have always treated Pansy as my sister. When Pansy was a child, she played with fire and her hair burned, so I poured a basin of water on her head. Another time, she accidentally ate hellebore..."
Draco told him everything about his childhood.
"But her attitude towards me has changed since last year. When I realized it, I tried my best to avoid contact with her, but she didn't notice it at all."
"...until she saw another girl next to me."
He finally added: "Pansy is too young and her family is too doting, so she is somewhat paranoid."
Draco revealed all his secrets when he got anxious.
Amanta turned around and smiled harmlessly.
"Draco, what are you thinking about?"
Draco's light grey eyes revealed a rare look of confusion: "Ah?"
"I'm just saying that if she doesn't study hard and keeps thinking of ways to bully others every day, she will be expelled from Hogwarts sooner or later."
Amanta raised her foot, and the heel of her Oxford shoe hit the floor with a dull sound. Several owls above her head were awakened and fluttered around among the branches.
She had no business whatsoever with Pansy and Draco, she just hoped it wouldn't interfere with her life.
After all, there are still so many things waiting for her to do.
Draco hurried after her, his tone slightly raised.
"You're right. I should have a good talk with Pansy and write to her parents to try to control her behavior."
Amanta walked around the Owlery and soon saw her Bertha in a man-made cave in the wall.
Bertha had folded her wings and was sleeping soundly on a ball of straw.
Amanta quietly put the letter aside, and Bertha opened one eye, looked at her, and flapped her wings with satisfaction.
"Amanta, come and see my Dragun!"
Draco shouted from a distance, his voice filled with uncontrollable excitement.
Dragun is the eagle owl that Draco always mentioned. Amanta could not find any other adjectives to describe it except for its huge head and huge body.
"Oh my god! What is that? An eagle owl? That's so cool!"
Neville cried out in surprise as he entered the Owlery.
Obviously, his exclamation pleased Dragun very much. Dragun flapped his nearly one-meter-long wings with satisfaction, and looked at him proudly with his bright yellow glass eyes.
"Neville Longbottom?"
Amanta recognized him as the boy who had been looking for Toad on the train.
"Oh…you're Amanta Merlyn, and Draco Malfoy?"
Neville had probably heard a lot of gossip on campus in the past two days. When he saw them, he took a few steps back at a loss.
"Oh, are you here to deliver a letter, too?"
Amanta saw with her sharp eyes that he was hiding something behind his back.
Neville shook his head anxiously, his face flushed: "It's nothing, don't worry about it."
"There's no need to be afraid of us. Aren't you a Gryffindor? Show some courage."
Draco stroked Dragon's brown feathers with satisfaction. It was obvious that Neville's praise just now benefited him as much as Dragon.
Neville looked at them hesitantly, as if to make sure they wouldn't curse him while his back was turned, and then quickly handed a letter to a Hogwarts owl.
Amanta called out to Neville who was turning around and leaving in a hurry.
"Neville, are you interested in our SO group?"
"Uh, sorry, what was that?"
Neville was standing on tiptoe, and it was obvious that he wanted to leave.
"It is the abbreviation of the Study Skills Sharing Group, which aims to find the most effective and convenient way for each group member to achieve the standard of O grade at the end of the semester."
Neville's eyes lit up: "Really?"
But his eyes lingered between Draco and Amanta for a moment, as if he was thinking about the bad rumors about them again.
He walked down the stairs nervously and said perfunctorily, "I'll consider it if I have time."
"You actually invited Neville to join our group? He..."
Draco shook his head. "He is a complete idiot, and his talent is generally recognized to be extremely poor. Before he was eight years old, everyone thought he was a Squib."
Amanta also shook her head.
"Magic doesn't just mean casting spells. Everyone has their own strengths. I think Neville must have some."
Although she told Draco this, if she hadn't known in advance that Neville had excellent grades in Herbology and later became the Herbology professor at Hogwarts, she would probably have had similar thoughts to Draco.
So she added another sentence.
"Even if he is not outstanding in any aspect, he is still an excellent experimental subject. If our theory is successfully applied to him, it can prove that our method is applicable to almost everyone."
Draco couldn't deny it.
"You really have considered everything."
Draco spoke in a low voice as they walked out of the west tower.
"You know what? Before I met you, I always thought I was the best one."
"I can tell."
Amanta smiled.
She vaguely felt that Draco's temperament had changed in an indescribable way over the past month.
"So I was arrogant, conceited, and pretentious. I didn't take anyone seriously. I liked to point fingers at others, form cliques, and incite opposition... But after meeting you, I gradually saw myself clearly."
"I am still a long way from being a qualified heir to the Malfoy family. I always regard my father as my role model, but..."
"I just rely on the aura of the Malfoy family."
Draco spoke bitterly.
"Amanta, you are excellent. I hope that one day I can walk side by side with you."
Amanta patted his shoulder and gave him an encouraging smile.
"Why didn't I notice you talking so much before?"
"But I welcome it."
