The Charles Becomes a Wizard
Chapter 101 School Board
Harry's situation at Hogwarts deteriorated again, and Dumbledore, who was determined to train a savior, certainly could not have failed to notice it.
However, when he found out, Professor McGonagall had already deducted all the points. As the headmaster of Hogwarts, he couldn't force the dean of the college to go back on his word, so after a secret conversation with McGonagall, the matter was dropped.
In the end, Dumbledore didn't take Harry's isolation by his classmates too seriously. On the one hand, Dumbledore believed that it was normal for children to fight with each other, and the little lions were open-minded. As long as Harry behaved better in the future, they would soon forget about it.
On the other hand, Dumbledore himself has a lot of things to do, such as investigating who the "Mr. Goat" who was said by Harry to have entered Hogwarts silently and defeated the basilisk was? For example, where did the basilisk that was supposed to be in the Chamber of Secrets go? For example, at the upcoming board of directors meeting, what should he say to the group of nobles who came with ill intentions...
Yes, he comes with ill intentions.
He didn't know what Lucius Malfoy had done behind the scenes to convince all the school directors.
If there hadn't been a school director who was close to Dumbledore and wanted to please both sides, and hadn't reminded him vaguely, Dumbledore, who had been so busy with various "accidents" during this period, would probably have had to wait until the day before the school directors' meeting to get the news.
Dumbledore's guess was correct, the school directors did have bad intentions.
Whether due to Lucius's coercion or inducement, or due to dissatisfaction with the series of dangerous incidents that have occurred in Hogwarts since the Savior enrolled, the school directors have privately reached a consensus on removing Dumbledore from the position of Headmaster.
They even brought the candidate for acting principal directly to the school board meeting.
He was a middle-aged man with brown hair, brown eyes, ordinary looks but outstanding temperament. His every move seemed like he had received an orthodox and old-fashioned British gentleman's education. He was aloof yet decent.
"This is Brian (Please imagine your middle name) Howard." Lucius tapped the snake stick in his hand to introduce him to Dumbledore. "After you step down, he will serve as the acting headmaster of Hogwarts."
Dumbledore lowered his head slightly, his deep blue eyes looking straight at Lucius from above the frames of his half-moon glasses. His hands were resting lightly on the table with his fingers interlocked.
"Mr. Malfoy, you seem very confident in your plan." Dumbledore spoke slowly.
"Mr. Dumbledore, what are you talking about?" Lucius pretended to be confused. "As one of the school directors, I have always been concerned about the interests of this school."
"I think you still owe us an explanation for what happened recently."
"I think everyone is curious about who could have caused an underage wizard to fall into a coma under the care of the greatest white wizard." Lucius said aggressively. "This is clearly a dereliction of duty on your part as the headmaster. We are merely making reasonable demands."
"Do you think so too?"
Dumbledore looked at the other school directors. When they met his gaze, some of them remained expressionless, while others turned their eyes away, but no one spoke for him.
"Mrs. Longbottom?" Dumbledore looked at the person most likely to be on his side. "Do you also think I should leave Hogwarts?"
Back then, her son and daughter-in-law, the Longbottom couple who are still sleeping in St. Mungo's, were two generals under Dumbledore. In order to fight against Voldemort's high-pressure rule, the Longbottom family donated a lot of money and property to the Order of the Phoenix. Dumbledore didn't believe that this lady would be willing to stand on the side of Malfoy, who was once a Death Eater.
The old and somewhat harsh-looking woman glanced at the old headmaster with white hair and beard and said, "Mr. Malfoy is right. We need a reasonable explanation for what happened before."
She was a smart and courageous woman, otherwise she would not have decisively given up most of her family wealth after realizing that the side branches wanted to kill her grandson and seize the Longbottom family's property. She would not have released the property as bait to divert attention and let the jackals, tigers and leopards fight for it.
She herself guarded the collection of books passed down from generation to generation in the Longbottom family - a true inheritance of an ancient family, and lived a life that was much more difficult than before with her grandson Neville Longbottom.
She now cares more about Neville Longbottom's safety than her son and daughter-in-law, who are still unsure whether they can wake up. Dumbledore's actions in recent days have undoubtedly made her very disappointed.
Dumbledore shook his head and was about to say something when he heard a knock on the door.
Professor McGonagall held a thick account book and led Harry into the house.
"Headmaster, here is the account book you requested." Professor McGonagall placed the account book on the table.
The relaxed expression on Dumbledore's face disappeared.
"Mr. Howard, maybe you would like to check it first?" Lucius picked up a book and handed it to Brian Howard, who had been silent. "After all, this will be one of your jobs in the future."
"Mr. Malfoy!" Dumbledore snapped.
He never asked Professor McGonagall to get any account books! Malfoy must have arranged this!
"Why, is there something in here that we can't see?" Lucius said nonchalantly, "Are you worried that Mr. Howard didn't check it carefully enough?"
Relying on the fact that Dumbledore would not attack him in public, Lucius handed out the account books on the table one by one. "It's okay, we can all help."
He moved so quickly that Dumbledore didn't even have time to stop him before the account books were transferred to the hands of the school directors.
It’s over.
Dumbledore closed his eyes in frustration and let out a deep breath.
Dumbledore is a knowledgeable scholar and a sensitive and suspicious politician, but his ability to cook the books is really limited, especially in front of Malfoy who wishes he could hide in a pile of gold Galleons.
For Lucius, it would not be an exaggeration to say that the contents of the account book were horrific.
The other school directors also looked extremely unhappy. Although everyone knew that Dumbledore had embezzled some public funds before coming to Hogwarts, they did not expect the actual data to be so shocking.
"Dumbledore," another Slytherin school director slammed the account book on the table and sneered, "Aren't you going to explain?"
