The Charles Becomes a Wizard

Chapter 102 The decision of the school directors?

Only one-fifth of the gold Galleons donated to Hogwarts by the school directors every year was used to maintain the castle's magic circle and pay the salaries of faculty and staff. The remaining four-fifths disappeared. The tuition fees paid by some students were not even recorded, and there was no way to trace their whereabouts.

A rough calculation shows that Dumbledore served as the headmaster of Hogwarts for nearly fifty years, and the number of gold Galleons that disappeared from his hands was almost equal to the wealth accumulated by many small and medium-sized families over generations.

It is understandable that school directors would be angry about this.

The reason why they frequently donated money and property to Hogwarts was partly because it was an obligation that the school directors should undertake, but more importantly, they hoped that their pampered young cubs would have a more comfortable life at school. However, the account books in front of them now told them that those gold Galleons would rarely be used on their own children!

How is this different from treating them as scapegoats?

Before this, no one had ever thought that the highly respected Dumbledore would embezzle public funds.

Dumbledore has a high reputation in the wizarding world and a very good name. In fact, even Lucius, who always disliked him, had never doubted his character before Charles pointed out his fixed mindset.

Even though the forces led by both sides have been in constant friction over the years, Lucius still trusts this old man who has saved the wizarding world from danger several times. He believes that Dumbledore has made a lot of efforts for the stability of the wizarding world, and believes that under his care, Hogwarts must be the safest place in the world...

But in the end he was too self-righteous and thought the old man was too selfless.

Facing the angry eyes of the school directors, Dumbledore could only smile bitterly.

What could he say? How difficult it was for the families and orphans of the members of the Order of the Phoenix who died in the war? How much he had invested most of his wealth in it, but it was just a drop in the bucket?

He had no choice but to embezzle part of Hogwarts' funds. The Order of the Phoenix could not be disbanded before Voldemort's complete death was confirmed.

In order to maintain the vitality of the Order of the Phoenix, a constant supply of new forces is needed. If they cannot even comfort the families of the deceased after the war, how many people in this wizarding world that has been peaceful for so long would be willing to risk their lives to join the Order of the Phoenix for that fragile "ideal"?

Although Dumbledore believed that the reasons he could give were selfless and frank enough, he knew very well that the school directors in front of him would not listen and would not be able to understand.

Before today, Dumbledore had never thought that Lucius would resort to such means as checking the accounts, so he was caught off guard.

In short, no matter what the reason, the evidence that Dumbledore embezzled public funds was clearly placed on the table and seen by all shareholders, and he had no way to defend himself.

"Why are you talking like that?" Professor McGonagall, who had no idea what Dumbledore had done, expressed her dissatisfaction with the school director's questioning tone. "This is Hogwarts, you..."

"Professor McGonagall hasn't seen the account book, has she?" Lucius handed her the book in his hand and said in a meaningful tone, "Once you have seen it, you will know."

Lucius's attitude gave Mag an ominous premonition in her heart. She opened the account book with trembling fingers, and after just a few minutes, she looked up in disbelief.

"Albus! This, these..." The upright witch stared at Dumbledore with her cloudy eyes, hoping to hear words of rebuttal from him.

She didn't want to believe that the old man whom she respected and loved from the bottom of her heart would do such a terrible thing.

But Dumbledore's reaction disappointed her. He just sighed and looked at her quietly: "Minerva, you have to believe me."

Believe me, I will not do anything detrimental to the wizarding world for my own selfish gain.

Dumbledore did not say the following words, but McGonagall, who had worked with him for many years, could naturally understand what he meant.

He could understand it, but that didn't mean Mag could understand and agree with his approach.

What on earth would make Dumbledore take action against Hogwarts' property? And why didn't she know about it? Did Dumbledore no longer trust her? Or did he have other plans?

Professor McGonagall's mind was in a mess, but she tried to remain calm.

"So, what are you going to do?"

"After our collective discussion, we believe that Mr. Dumbledore is no longer suitable to continue serving as the headmaster of Hogwarts." said a school director from Ravenclaw.

"Of course, Mr. Dumbledore needs to return all the gold Galleons that were secretly transferred by him as soon as possible. As for other punishments..."

"You actually want Albus to leave Hogwarts?!" Professor McGonagall screamed before the school director finished speaking. "How dare you?!"

How could Dumbledore leave Hogwarts? What would happen to the students of Hogwarts after he left? Who could keep them safe like he did?

"Why not?" Lucius asked coldly. "How many things have happened at Hogwarts in the past two years under his 'care'? You must have remembered that there is still a little wizard lying in St. Mungo's who may never wake up. It's not wrong to say that he neglected his duty, right?"

"Malfeasance and embezzlement," Lucius tapped the ground with his snake staff, "What makes you think we would allow such a man to continue to serve as the headmaster of Hogwarts?"

"......" Mag opened her mouth, but could not say anything.

"In the interest of fairness, Mr. Potter, please take two steps forward."

Harry shuddered when his name was called. This boy who had been keeping quiet since he entered the room instantly became the focus of everyone.

Haha, this is Dumbledore, who disregarded the safety of all students and was determined to train a savior.

Looking at the thin, small, shivering boy, Lucius raised a false smile at the corner of his lips. He stood up from his seat and put his hand on Harry's shoulder.

"You are the only existing heir of the Potter family. You can naturally inherit the position of the Potter family's school director. You should also participate in the next vote."

The school director? Him? How could this be possible!

Harry was stunned by this title that came out of nowhere, and his mind went blank in an instant.

"Now, those who agree to remove Mr. Dumbledore from his position as headmaster please raise your hands."

The school directors looked at each other, and everyone except Harry raised their hands.

"More than half of the school directors agreed to my proposal. So," Lucius looked around and said to Dumbledore, "From today on, Mr. Dumbledore will no longer be the headmaster of Hogwarts. Now, please stand up."
