The Charles Becomes a Wizard
Chapter 147 Trial?
"What do you want to hear from me?" Charles asked. "Or, what kind of answer do you want from me?"
A woman who looked very serious glanced at her colleagues who were a little agitated by Ciel's completely disrespectful attitude, and waited until they calmed down before turning to look at the boy sitting on the trial stand. "Mr. Phantomhive, you don't have to be so vigilant. We just want to know what happened that night."
She seemed to be trying to soften her voice, but her words were still cold and her attitude was still condescending and arrogant.
It's hard to have any good feelings towards her.
However, Ciel had seen her photo before. She was Amelia Susan Bones, the Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. From the information Sebastian had collected, she was an upright and old-fashioned lady, just like Professor McGonagall. She was also a rare fair and strict person among the fifty or so members of the Wizengamot.
"Be alert?" Charles tapped the table with his fingers. "Shouldn't I be more alert?"
"Seriously speaking, I am at most an eyewitness, but why would an eyewitness be brought to the courtroom? Could it be that you have already found the suspect?"
"No, I don't think that's likely."
"You've made such a big fuss just for a simple inquiry. I really have to doubt your purpose. Are you trying to intimidate me? Or..." Charles narrowed his eyes, "want to push this incident onto me?"
"Ah, maybe I should feel honored to be valued so much by you?"
Charles' gaze swept over the group of wizards in purple robes, taking in the uncomfortable expressions of some of them, and then his bright blue eyes fell on Amelia Susan Bones again.
"Mrs. Bones, do you think I can kill a few adult wizards in public?"
The witch who was specifically named took a deep look.
"Mr. Phantomhive, just tell me if you saw any suspicious people last night."
"When the accident happened, all the lights in the room went out and I didn't see anything." Charles spread his hands.
This is the truth.
Although it was he who gave the order and it was indeed Sebastian who did it, Ciel didn't think anyone could see clearly what was happening in the dark.
After hearing what Charles said, the wizards began to discuss in low voices. It was so chaotic that one could not hear what they were saying.
"Quiet!" The old man with white beard spoke again. He seemed to have considerable power. Just a simple sentence made all the wizards quiet down.
"Mr. Phantomhive, we have reason to suspect that you are hiding certain facts. In order to prove your innocence," the old man nodded in the direction of the door, and then a wizard in a black robe stepped forward and placed a crystal bottle in front of Charles.
"This contains truth serum." His voice was dull and heavy, with a strong sense of oppression. "Drink it. If you really have nothing to do with the murderer, the truth serum can prove your innocence."
What would happen after drinking the truth serum was not something that this sharp-tongued kid could control. Most of the members present were good at playing with language, and as long as they found the right problem, even if the boy was innocent, they were confident that they could turn him into a real criminal.
Charles lowered his head and played with the crystal bottle in his hand. His half-long hair covered his delicate eyebrows and eyes.
"Why, don't you dare?"
"I didn't do anything wrong, why should I drink this?"
"To prove your innocence to us."
"Shouldn't you people who doubt me prepare evidence in advance?" Charles raised his eyebrows casually. "I'm innocent to begin with, why should I try to prove to you that I didn't do anything wrong?"
"This..." The old man was choked.
"You seem to have something against me. Why? Have you heard any rumors about me?" The clear crystal bottle made a slight sound when it was placed on the table.
"Let me guess. Did you hear something from your good friend Mr. Dumbledore?"
"Mr. Phantomhive, please watch your attitude!" A man with short gray hair interrupted Charles coldly.
"I'm sorry," Ciel said without any hesitation, leaning his head slightly on the armrest of the chair with one hand on it. "I just think there are some people here who need truth serum more than me, don't you think? Mr. Barty Crouch."
"You..." Barty Crouch's heart tightened when he met the boy's gaze that seemed to see through everything.
Shouldn't...
No, it's impossible, that thing must never be known to others!
Barty Crouch's eyes dimmed, and a cold light flashed in his eyes as he looked at Charles.
"Speaking of this, the resumes of all the big shots are really impressive, Sebastian." Charles laughed suddenly.
"Yes, young master." Accompanied by a chuckle, a tall figure appeared silently behind the boy.
"Oh, Merlin's holey vest, who are you!"
"who!"
"How did he get in?"
"..."
Sebastian's appearance caused a commotion. The wizards who held high status in the British magic world raised their wands and looked warily at this existence that should not be here.
"I am just an ordinary butler." said the devil in black.
"How did you get in?" someone in the crowd asked.
"I have always been by the young master's side."
"Phantomhive! What do you want to do by bringing people to break into the Ministry of Magic?" Barty Crouch asked loudly.
"Eh? I didn't bring anyone in here." Ciel tilted his head, looking completely harmless. "Sebastian followed me in openly, so who can you blame if you didn't notice him?"
"Instead of blaming others, why not reflect on yourself?" Ciel muttered softly. "I thought the members of the Wizengamot were all very strong."
Upon hearing this, the wizards' faces quickly turned red. A few of those who were particularly concerned about their reputation even wanted to convict Charles directly and send this sharp-tongued boy directly to Azkaban.
For those who are always sought after and hold high positions, few can tolerate the feeling of being slapped in the face in public...
This child speaks too bluntly. Even if this incident is over, he will definitely be hated by others in the future.
Amelia Susan Bones frowned and was about to say something to help Charles, but was interrupted by him.
The boy raised his index finger to his lips, with a faint smile between his eyebrows: "Next is story time."
Looking at the stack of scrolls in the black-clothed man's arms, the wizards present had an ominous premonition in their hearts.
