The Charles Becomes a Wizard

Chapter 53 Dumbledore & Harry

As we all know, smiles don't disappear, they just move away.

"It seems that things have developed beyond your expectations." Snape curled his lips coldly, not disguising his sarcastic tone. "Well, since our great savior is still alive and well, I think I am no longer needed here."

After all, Dumbledore brought him along, on the one hand to prevent Harry from getting too seriously injured and to let him act as a temporary doctor. On the other hand, he also wanted him to see that Harry was well educated in the Muggle world, in case he would complain about Dumbledore's "Savior Training Plan" later.

"Severus." Professor McGonagall looked at Snape disapprovingly.

"It's getting late, and I still need to patrol tonight." Snape made a muffled nasal sound, turned around and left without waiting for Dumbledore and McGonagall to speak.

If I didn't leave on my own initiative, Dumbledore might even start to suspect me given his suspicious nature.

Snape was too lazy to waste time dealing with his repeated temptations!

"Albus, what should we do next?" asked Professor McGonagall.

She obviously knew how precious and difficult the Philosopher's Stone was. It was never a good thing to lose such a thing in Hogwarts.

"Minerva, please send Harry to the hospital wing first." Dumbledore hesitated for a moment and said to Professor McGonagall, "Don't worry, I will take care of the rest."

After Professor McGonagall left, Dumbledore searched the entire Chamber of Secrets but could not find any trace of the Philosopher's Stone.

He even used a rewind spell on the magic mirror, but the scene that appeared made Dumbledore unbelievable - Harry did not get the Philosopher's Stone from the magic mirror, the stone seemed to have evaporated inexplicably.

He pulled out handfuls of his white beard, and finally Dumbledore had no choice but to focus his attention on Harry.

So, when Harry finally woke up from his bed in the hospital wing, the first person he saw was Dumbledore waiting by his bed.

"Professor Dumbledore." Harry quickly propped up his upper body and called out somewhat flattered.

"Oh, my child, you finally woke up." The old man's eyes were full of kindness.

"Do you know how Ron and Hermione are doing?" Harry asked anxiously.

"Don't worry, don't worry, they are all fine." Dumbledore comforted.

"So, where's the Philosopher's Stone? Has it been taken away?" Harry pounded his fist on the quilt in frustration. "It's all my fault. I didn't find the Philosopher's Stone."

"I'm sorry, my child, the Philosopher's Stone is indeed lost." Dumbledore looked at Harry with his blue eyes hidden under the half-moon frame. "In order to find it back as soon as possible, can you tell me what happened that night?"

He didn't know if it was Harry's illusion, but he always felt that Dumbledore's attitude at the moment seemed a little anxious.

"I, I saw Professor Quirrell in that room, and he wanted me to find the Philosopher's Stone," Harry calmed down and began to tell the story. "I stood in front of the mirror and clearly saw myself in the mirror putting the Philosopher's Stone in my pocket, but there was nothing in my pocket..."

So, just like the magic retracing, Harry never got the Philosopher's Stone from the beginning. Dumbledore's eyes darkened.

That being said, the Philosopher's Stone should have been lost some time ago.

Who on earth could have stolen the Philosopher's Stone quietly from right under his nose?

You know, he used a lot of methods to protect this magic stone, but it was obvious that those methods were ineffective.

The person who could do this either had a deeper understanding of magic than he did, or knew him very well...

A face suddenly appeared in Dumbledore's mind. The fingers that were pinching his beard trembled, and he pulled out a few more hairs.

Perhaps he was wrong, the man should still be in Nurmengardi...

But apart from him, are there any other wizards with powerful magic who know him so well?

Dumbledore closed his eyes.

After the students have their holidays, maybe he should go to Germany...

"Then, I heard another voice," Harry clenched his fists, his voice trembling unconsciously: "That person, I mean Voldemort is hiding under his turban."

"He wanted to kill me and avenge himself, but I don't know why. As soon as Professor Quirrell touched me, he started screaming. Then he turned into a pool of ash. Then, the scar on my head suddenly hurt a lot. I don't know what happened next..."

"Oh, my child, do not blame yourself too much. The loss of the Philosopher's Stone has nothing to do with you. Someone stole it before you entered the room."

"And what about your friend Nicolas Flamel? Will he die?"

"The elixir Nico has on hand is enough to last until we get the Philosopher's Stone back."

"You will definitely find it back, right?" Harry's eyes were full of trust.

Dumbledore nodded. "Of course, my boy, of course."

"Principal Dumbledore, you know why..."

"Why can't Quirrell touch you?" Dumbledore asked gently, suppressing his impatience. "It's because of your mother."

"She sacrificed herself to protect you when she was in danger. This behavior will leave a mark on you."

Seeing Harry subconsciously trying to touch his forehead, Dumbledore gently pressed his wrist: "That's not what I mean. You can't touch this mark."

After calming Harry down, Dumbledore could hardly wait to return to his office. He sat quietly in front of a desk piled with scrolls, his fingers stroking the blank photo frame. He looked a little lonely, and no one knew what he was thinking.

There was a knock on the door and Professor McGonagall walked in and asked.

"Well, Albus, does Harry know anything?"

Dumbledore changed his previous depressed look and shook his head calmly: "Minerva, Harry knows nothing. I think that Hogwarts may have had guests who visited us before that we were not aware of."

"Albus!" Professor McGonagall cried in a rare excitement, "You know the Philosopher's Stone must not be lost in Hogwarts!"

She couldn't imagine how dangerous it would be for the young wizards who left Hogwarts once the news got out! They would be targeted by the dark wizards who wanted to get the Philosopher's Stone! The best outcome of being targeted would be to be cast under the Imperius Curse...

"Minerva, don't be nervous. I will take care of this matter." Dumbledore tried his best to comfort her.

"That's what you said when you insisted on bringing the Philosopher's Stone to Hogwarts!" Professor McGonagall retorted. If she had known it would turn out like this, she shouldn't have given in!

Dumbledore was choked by his right-hand man. "I have discussed this with Nico before. We announced to the public that after knowing that Harry sacrificed his life to protect the Philosopher's Stone, we believed that the Philosopher's Stone would easily cause chaos, so we destroyed it."

But at the beginning this was just an excuse. Who would have thought that the Philosopher's Stone is really gone now.

How should he explain this to Nico?

"How many people do you think will believe it?" Professor McGonagall was not optimistic about Dumbledore's clumsy lie.

Dumbledore smiled and said, "Don't worry, I will make them believe it."

Professor McGonagall gave him a suspicious look.

"Oh, Minerva, it's getting late. I thought you were here to inform me to attend the banquet." Dumbledore stood up from his chair and walked out the door first. "The students are waiting. As the headmaster, it's not good to be late."
