The Charles Becomes a Wizard
Chapter 54: Slytherin's House Cup
The night before students leave, Hogwarts traditionally holds a house cup selection, ranking each house according to the number of gems remaining, to praise and encourage the animals.
The Great Hall was decorated early. The flags with the Slytherin emblem floating in the air and the silver decorations on the tables announced to everyone who would win the house cup this year.
The little snakes were in high spirits, and after Dumbledore announced the number of gems in each house, they proudly puffed out their chests in front of everyone's gaze.
This result did not disappoint their hard work for the past year. Whether it was working hard to get extra points in class, or working hard to follow the rules after class, or trying hard not to let the professor find out that they violated the rules, in short, this is what they deserved!
Dumbledore, standing on the platform, coughed twice, interrupting the little snakes' excited cheers.
"The Slytherins have done very well. However, in light of some recent events, I still have some final points to award."
What happened recently? Wasn't that the story about the savior and the Philosopher's Stone?
What was supposed to be a secret somehow became a hot topic in Hogwarts, which also led to those stupid lions worshipping the savior...
The little snakes exchanged glances, and the smiles on their faces froze slightly.
From what the principal said, he wanted to give them extra points...
Snape's expression also turned ugly.
But Dumbledore obviously didn't consider their feelings.
The old man with white hair and beard gave the Gryffindor trio a considerable amount of points in a very pleased tone, making Gryffindor, which originally had the least number of gems, jump to first place together with Slytherin.
But even so, Dumbledore was still not satisfied, and gave Neville Longbottom ten extra points in the name of "being able to muster up the courage to stop a friend is also a kind of courage", thus successfully making Gryffindor the house with the most gems.
The atmosphere at the Slytherin table suddenly turned cold, in contrast to the ecstatic Gryffindor.
"Well, I now have the honor to announce..." Dumbledore tapped the cup in his hand and continued after the little lions calmed down.
However, he was interrupted by a voice from the audience before he finished speaking.
"So you are encouraging night outings? Regardless of whether the Saviors are really brave or not, it is a fact that the three of them violated multiple school rules, right?"
“Shouldn’t this behavior be punished?”
The auditorium fell silent for a moment.
Dumbledore looked sharply in the direction of the voice, but unexpectedly found that the voice came from the Gryffindor table.
The little lions looked at each other, obviously no one knew who had just spoken.
But it was just this simple sentence that put Dumbledore in a difficult position in front of all the little animals.
The reason why Dumbledore dared to give extra points to the Gryffindor trio and Neville Longbottom for a reason that many people thought was unfounded was actually because he was relying on his authority as the headmaster of Hogwarts.
He believed that even if someone was dissatisfied with what he said, no student or professor would interrupt the president's speech in public.
It's just a matter of who wins the college cup. As long as he defines the matter in front of everyone, no matter what someone says afterwards, it won't change the result.
Who will take this year's College Cup seriously when the next semester starts?
People will only remember the story of the savior bravely protecting the Philosopher's Stone in the first grade.
The reason why Dumbledore planned a seemingly unimportant house cup was, on the one hand, to encourage Harry, and on the other hand, in Dumbledore's plan, Harry Potter, as the savior, should have stood out from everyone from the very beginning and become the focus of everyone's attention.
Dumbledore wanted to train Harry into a leader, and having him lead Gryffindor to win the house cup from Slytherin was one of Harry's ways to gain the admiration of the little lions.
"You should believe in Harry. No matter what the process is, he will bring you victory." Dumbledore tried to implant this idea deeply in the minds of the little animals.
Human beings always have habitual thinking when looking at things. When you begin to habitually admire and look up to a person, over time, you will agree with and understand all his views, and then become his loyal supporter.
But now, because of a simple sentence, Dumbledore's plan was disrupted.
As the headmaster of Hogwarts, it was unreasonable for him to make an exception and give Gryffindor so many points at once. If he now ignores the Gryffindor trio's violation of school rules, Dumbledore's prestige in Hogwarts will suffer an unprecedented blow.
But if I give up this opportunity...
Didn’t all his previous efforts go in vain?
Dumbledore was a little reluctant, and Professor McGonagall, who looked ashamed, spoke up: "Of course, night tours are not allowed. Since Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger have violated many school rules, 100 points will be deducted from each of them."
The animals in the audience were shocked by the twists and turns of the plot. As a result, Gryffindor's gems will become even fewer than before!
"Minerva," Dumbledore turned his head sharply, noticing that his tone was too harsh. He slowed down for a moment before asking gently, "Isn't this punishment a little too much?"
"Albus," Professor McGonagall looked at Dumbledore steadily, letting him see the determination in her eyes, "it's time for you to announce the winner of the House Cup."
Dumbledore's obvious favoritism towards Gryffindor made the upright witch feel ashamed.
Seeing that Professor McGonagall had no intention of changing her mind, Dumbledore turned to the animals in the audience and announced, "Then let us congratulate Slytherin for winning this year's House Cup!"
Contrary to everyone's expectations, the one who reacted most enthusiastically after hearing the result was not Slytherin, but Ravenclaw.
The young eagles threw their hats high and cheered.
They accepted the loss to Slytherin. At least the performance of the little snakes was good enough. But they were inexplicably suppressed by the trouble-making Gryffindor...
Why?
Are they better than me in any way other than making trouble?
In the bustling atmosphere, no one noticed a pitch-black crow flying across the dome.
Draco poked Charles who was sitting next to him and asked in a low voice: "Could the person who just spoke be...?"
Why did that voice sound so familiar to him?
Ciel stuffed a mouthful of pudding into Draco's mouth, with a faint smile on his face: "Well, I'm also curious, who is the person who spoke?"
